  The reason is that the data store is not presented to all hosts in a cluster. When you create the VM in vCenter Server, only warehouses of data visible to the host on which the virtual machine is created are displayed.

  Make sure the presentation on your storage system is correct and rescan your hosts.

  To check the above, take a look at the Configuration-> Storage for guests.

  I wonder how do I know if a store of data never mounted/dismounted iscsi on a host?

  Here are the steps and I got in trouble.

  1. Add iscsi target static to the host.

  2 rescan HBAs

  3. If the data store is connected recently vSphere will rise this data store. If not and the data store was dismantled to the host of the last connection and then I manually mount (mountVmfsVolume) this data store.

  If I manually mount a data store that involves automatic Assembly of vSphere so it will be occurs "InvalidState Exception" on statement "mountVmfsVolume" from the CROWD. The exception message is "the operation is not allowed in the current state.

  How can I know if the data store will be auto-monté and avoid this exception of CROWD? Is any information that I can use before getting this data store manually?

  When the device is detached, it remains in a State not fitted even if the unit is represented (in other words, the detached state is persistent).

  To set the device online, the device must be fixed.

  If you want unit decommission definitely an ESXi host, manually remove the NAA to configuration of the host entries:

  So you can use command base for esxcli detached storage unit list to check if the host has upped this device earlier or not.

  When the device is presented at the start (or manually permanently removed from service before), it will not appear in the list.

  When the device with a VMFS was removed earlier and not permanently taken out of service, the naa.ID appears in the list.

  3 x HP DL380p

  2 x Netgear ReadyData without (21 to each)

  I installed on each server ESXi and vCenter running and working.

  What I want to do is to create a data store on each of the San via iSCSI so that all 3 hosts can access them, so that if a virtual computer fails it is lit by the next available host.

  So far I figured out how to add a NFS share to each of the hosts with the same data store but can't seem to do it with iSCSI.

  Can someone give me a break down of what I have to do?

• ESXi 4.1, does not use the entire RAID 5 on Dell R810 datastore

  I installed ESXi 4.1 on a Dell R810.  I've raided the first two drives in a RAID 1 and installed ESXi.  The 4 remaining disks are in a RAID 5 for the main data store.  ESXi acknowledges that the RAID is 2.7 TB but will only create a.7 TB or 744,75 GB data store.

  I did the same thing on several Dell R710s without problem.  Someone at - it ideas?  I guess it's a driver issue, but I do not see updates to driver for 4.1 for Dell R810
