LR can remove a part of a file name by renaming?

I have a file name of 12012014 - 1234.cr2.  If I rename it to LR, it is quite easy to make testname-12012014 - 1234.cr2.  But I can remove 12012014 date [originally added by LR], so that the name becomes testname - 1234.cr2? It is probably a process in two steps, at least, and if it can still be done, for example, by using a wildcard character?

For a SINGLE file in the metadata Panel of the library.

Click in the file name box and type the name to what you want.

For a batch of a folder of several files renaming selected (assuming that '-1234' is the file name suffix original camera.-)

Select the files, press F2, select "Custom name - Original File Number '.

Enter your name personalized (eg. TestName) in the custom text box.

Then "12012014 - 1234.cr2" would be renamed "testname - 1234.cr2.

  • Can I use the part of a file name in a watermark?

    Hello

I have a lot of files to .tif I need to convert to PDF and then affix a unique watermark.

This watermark will be based on the file name, but only a part of it. For example a document with file bmw06125_x_1.pdf name should be stamped with a watermark indicating something like "see mw06125".

So basically, what I need is the mw06125 of the file name part to be part of the watermark is it possible with my copy of Acrobat Pro.

I am very new to this software and I still have to use it effectively, but I don't know that it will allow me to automate a large number of stamping and conversion. I was also wondering if it was possible to use Excel spreadsheets as part of automation, because I am able to write a formula that will allow to create the name.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How can I view all of the file name when you download a file as an attachment under the surface of windows 8 pro

I want to see the name of a file before I download it as an attachment, but the names of files in the file download blue box only see the part of the name. I click on "View files flaps" but who only works in windows Explorer. I need the full name in the window of blue line screen upload. How then can I list instead of several columns of short filenames?

    Thank you

    Bess in Carrollton, Texas

    Hi Bess,

It would be better that you could provide more information on this issue.

What application you are trying to download the file? Is any e-mail Application or SkyDrive?

If you try to upload a file with a long file name to the SkyDrive or Mail application, it wouldn't show the full name of the file when the download of the file. It shows only a part of the name of the file. It comes to the design of these applications.

To find the full file name, the only option is to rename the name of the file to a short name and then download the files on the machine or SkyDrive App.

    I hope this helps.

  • Remove mouseover in a PDF file name

I am trying to generate a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat X Pro through the interface of Word 2007.  When I generate my PDF and hover over an image, the text of the passage of the mouse displays the file name of the image file (IE mouseover text = "ImageFilename.png").  In addition, some of them are not correct (the name of the image file is in fact a previous revision of the image file and not the current file).  I would like to know:

-What Acrobat data queries for these names of files.  I know that this is not the actual file name since some are incorrect, so it must be some data contained in the word itself?

-How to completely remove this feature?  There is no significance to the names of image files and I'd rather not have all correspond to the text of the document.

I tried this and other forums but can not find instructions on how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

You see the word "alt" text. When you insert a picture in Word, it automatically uses the name of the file in the text field. This can only be with Office 2007 +. To change it, in files in mode compatibility (.doc) right click on the image and go to the format of the image, then select the ALT text tab. In the .docx files, this tab is under "Size."... "for stupid reasons rather than the format of the image. The text is a good thing for accessibility - screen-reading software.

  • Try to restore a lost Thunderbird profile, but can't "move profile" because the file names are too long

I'm having a problem with Thunderbird that is addressed in several comments here and on "mozillaZine", but trying to follow the instructions for fixing it, I ran into a new problem that I see not addressed. The initial problem is that described in this thread, where my files and everything just disappeared, and I am invited to start to create a new profile:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/1040003

Following the links in this thread, I get to this - and since my address book has also apparently gone, I click the internal link to the section titled 'Lost profile':

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared

Step 1 then sent me here:

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

Step 2 on this page says: "Copy the profile folder where you want to store." When I try to do it, however (using Windows Explorer on Windows 7), he gets to halfway through the copy and then hang up because it clashes with a file name that is too long to copy. And according to the prompt that tells me this, there are many more yet to come long file names.

Ignore this error and I just ignore these files? That means the copy of profile won't be complete, which I think would be dangerous or would just cause other errors. Or is there some simpler way quite do what I originally planned to do, which is to recover the profile which has mysteriously disappeared?

Again, I'm under Thunderbird on Windows 7 and it was used for years without ever encountering this extremely irritating glitch. I'll be grateful for any help.

Here are three different approaches, I suggest:

1 see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles and see if you can switch to that you want to use the Profile Manager.

    2. While TB is NOT running, use a prompt with the following commands: Note: place the entire path in quotation marks.

    • CD "the full path of your current profile directory name '.
    • xcopy "the full path of your"good"profile name" / s/h
    • now check with the Windows Explorer, and switch to him as above

3 change "profiles.ini" (using a text editor such as Notepad) to point to the profile 'good '. "profiles.ini" looks like this:

    [General]
    StartWithLastProfile = 1

    [Profile0]
    Name = default
    IsRelative = 1 * change this to 0 *.
Path = yt20rg5n.default * change this to the path and the name of your profile of "good."
    Default = 1

Let me know how it turns out.

  • How can I get the 8.3 file name short AND way?

We use some old DOS programs and need to use the old format back (filename.xxx). When the files are in the long trees, it is very difficult to find the names of files under Windows.

There was a response published in Google (http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/522710.html) which works very well under XP, but when I use it in Windows 7, I get the long file name.

Does anyone know how to do this?  The program can be changed?  Here is the program of this flajason-ga posted, but it must be updated for Windows 7 (I only know how to program in Foxpro).  Thank you, Alan

After my last comment, I read your details a little closer.
The last script I posted was to list out a whole directory in 8.3 format.
If you are looking for a friendly way of Clipboard to recover the 8.3
for individual files, that will be more to your liking.

Same thing as before. Copy the below into Notepad and save it with a .vbs extension.
Except that this time, you can simply drag and drop a folder or file icon
on the .vbs file and it displays the short path in an input box.
where you can copy the value and use anything you want to.

If you're industrious, you can also save the .vbs file in your
Folder "send to" (C:\Documents and Settings\ [yourname] \SendTo) to have
It is available in your context menu with a right click.

    Set fso = CreateObject ("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

    ' Is a file or a folder?
If fso. FolderExists (WScript.Arguments (0)) then
    "It's a folder
    Set objFolder = fso. GetFolder (WScript.Arguments (0))
Refund = InputBox ("this is your short path:", "SHORT PATH", objFolder.ShortPath)
    End If

If fso. FileExists (WScript.Arguments (0)) then
    "It's a file
    Set objFile = fso. GetFile (WScript.Arguments (0))
Refund = InputBox ("this is your short path:", "SHORT PATH", objFile.ShortPath)
    End If

  • Can I import words from the file name as keywords in the metadata when you import pictures?

    Hello

My apologies if this question has already been asked. I can't find the answer: will / Lightroom can import words filename for my photos as keywords in the metadata when you import the photos from my hard drive? And if so, how can I do this?

I'm new to Lightroom from iPhoto. After reading several articles on the transfer of photos from iPhoto, I exported some 7000 photos in an electronic file on my hard drive. I'm following the advice, sort and rename the photo files on my hard drive to be able to import them into Lightroom in an orderly fashion. It is not too difficult because iPhoto already for most changed the filenames for event names as ordered in iPhoto. I also prefer to do it manually rather than using any iPhoto / Aperture plugin because my iPhoto organization was far from perfect and I have already started to significantly improve by changing the file names.

I'm renaming the files of images with additional information to improve the organisation even more with what would anyway keywords "DATE/NAME/NAME OF PERSON (S) IN THE EVENT PHOTO" so it would be good to not have enter these keywords in the metadata after import for each photo. It's automatic and if not is there a way to do this? All the other tips are welcome!

    Thank you

    Hi adiscerningeye,

You can create metadata Preset and then apply this preset on import for images.

    Link partners: -.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Shares of advanced metadata

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 * create and apply metadata presets

Once you create a metadata preset, you must select it during import so it will be applied on all images when importing.

You can also type a few words under key words, so it will work like keywords for this specific to import Images.

Let us know if it helps.

  • can 13 items I sort by file name in Organizer

So I currently have 11 PES and now that I upgraded my camera to an EOS 7 d Mark II, I am increasingly finding subjects with PES 11, firstly, no RAW support, I have workarounds, but it is not ideal. Second more serious problem is the old question of sorting by file name in the Organizer. It was never too a problem for me until I started to import photos from my EOS 7 d MarkII where I used the 10 FPS burst high speed. When I try to see the shots in Organizer, they are just all over the place in a completely random order. The date/time of camera records in the EXIF info, but at 10 FPS resolution of these data are not enough to keep the image in the sequence. I noticed previously with slower cameras sometimes multiple pictures appear out of sequence, but now it's worse.

Can someone tell me if PSE13 also suffers from this limitation? What about Lightroom? I have to update? I have thousands of photos in my catalog and I invested a lot of time and effort in the categorization and tagging of my images. I'd hate to have to do all over again, but if Adobe can't help but then I might have to leave the ship elsewhere to see if a competing product can help.

    Thank you, Keith Adley

The absence of order of alphabetical sorting in PSE11 has been fixed in PSE12 and 13.

Just download the demo version of PS13, and you should see that your gross issue has also been resolved.

You should have no problem to convert your catalogs from PSE11 to the new version without losing anything.

  • Cannot find filename when looking for a part of the file name.

I'm just trying to do a simple search.  I have a few hundred files in a number of subfolders and above I'm looking for right in the file name (in the upper right corner of the browser) and he doesn't find anything.  This is getting very, very frustrating.  It seems to randomly find some files... but no more.

Is there some settiing I need to change?  What is the problem?

Well - I thought of her.  Despite light in several places that the 7 search automatically applies a generic search at both ends of your criteria, is not.  So, let's say that I was looking for the file name "aaaxyzbbb.txt"... the search for "xyz" found nothing.  But "* xyz" found what I was looking for...

In general, I can't delete the pages of my PDF files first. Acrobat displays the error message "one or more pages could not be deleted." In General, if I close and restart Acrobat a few times, I am able to delete the pages in question. Is there a way to get the delete function works the first time?
