  • Wake On Lan for Pavilion 500-046

I have been using Wake On Lan on my other computers to wake up computers on my network that have been closed using the Windows 7 shutdown command. This is a very useful feature for me, and I would like to make it work on my computer HP Pavilion Desk Top with Qualcomm AR8161 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet control. The Bios on the 500-046 has this option, and I put it to ACTIVATE. I am running Windows 8.1 update on the Pavilion. I, moreover, looked at other possible power in Device Manager settings, but I'm not having any luck getting it works. There is absolutely no response from the Pavilion when a wake on LAN signal is sent. A similar question has been posted by me a few days there are no answers. Maybe and Expert could give it a whirl. Thanks for any help.

    Hello fredkoch3,

I read your post about how you have problems to wake on LAN issues with your desktop computer, and I'd be happy to guide you to a resolution!

To start, I recommend that you follow this thread on ' Wake on LAN ' (WOL) behavior in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. This should help explain how (WOL) is used for Windows compared to Windows 7 8.1.

To find out if your system can be configured for Wake on Lan, I suggest a command "powercfg' running on your computer. This will check the power management features available. To do this, please follow the steps in the following procedure:

    1. Press and hold the Windows key and the R button simultaneously
    2. Type the word cmd in the box provided
    3. In the command prompt window, type the command "powercfg - availablesleepstates.
    4. Here you can compare the available sleep States using the document States supply system to see if (WOL) is available.

  • Wake on Lan for a Mac Mini running Leopard does not

Don't know where to best this post, but here's.  I'm trying to set up a Mini as a server of music for my audio system.  The Mini is a core 2 duo with 1 GB of RAM of 2009 I think.  Can I upgrade to Snow Leopard (possibly Lion/10.7 if I improve memory, what can I do anyway).  The mini is on a local network using a Netgear router and is only connected through wifi.  No ethernet.  The Mini is connected to a DAC by USB, and which is connected to the audio system.

I want to run this without screen and keyboard and rely on my iPhone or my MBAir to control the Mini via screen sharing.  I want to leave the Mini sleep don't no need then to wake up when I want music.  Problem is, I can't get the Mini to wake up.  I tried the Wake on Lan and other tools of waking distance so I can start playing the music, but I can't seem to wake up.

I have the correct MAC address and IP address (I booked a local IP address for him).  I'm sure that the two computers are on the same network.  I put the Mini to wake on lan in energy saver prefs.

    Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have not 10.5 available now and just ask...

In Sys Prefs is the Mini on Wake for administrator access? (Can't quite rememer what pref pane is in.)

  • Wake On LAN for 8133 Pharlap running

Study the various options related to guard dogs and control of the external power supply and came across a white paper which talks about Wake On LAN (activate the controller via the Ethernet port).  I see the instructions for Windows, but I use a race 8133 Pharlap.  This feature is available with this platform/OS combination?  If so, are there instructions for WOL with Pharlap?  Thank you.

    GSinMN

Unfortunately, the Wake On LAN feature is not supported by Phar Lap ETS. So that the WOL work, the ethernet for the operating system driver must be configured such that it can receive the wake-up signal. While it is possible in Windows, Linux and Mac, Phar Lap does not support this configuration. I apologize if our documentation was not clear and for confusion resulting in lack of clarity.

  • automatically optimize for costs of life battery batt to 100% within the parameters of the power manager

In the settings of my ThinkPad Power Manager W530, I chose the option "automatically optimize for life battery" (battery-> maintenance-> Mode of Charge of the battery). Nevertheless, he always fresh and keeps the battery at 100%. Is it normal for a battery 9 cells?

But many articles and discussions here at the forum State, actually in charge at 100% is not tor good battery life (see for example this article http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Welcome-FAQs-Knowledge-Base/How-can-I-increase-battery-life-ThinkPad/ta-... ). Do not miss anything?

    Thank you!

No matter how many charge cycles the battery on it, just the time where you change the batteries maintenance mode. If you have configured to maximize battery life, the battery may charge at a lower percentage (somewhere around 90%, more or less a few percentage points), but will show this figure as "integral" or 100% for the system. If you change the mode to load completely, then the maximum capacity will change to read the actual capacity of the battery.

The only way your situation would be a concern if, after setting the battery in order to maximize the battery life, then using the system on battery and load up once again, the battery always charged up to the full 94 w/h instead of reducing the number.

  • Life/changing the battery for V570

    Hello

I bought my laptop a year ago and never got more than a couple hours my battery. I bought a battery backup and it's even worse maybe (an hour?). I've seen where some talked about resetting or to recalibrate the battery and I'm not sure how to do on the 570. If not, anyone know where I can get a long battery life for this laptop?

    I run Windows 7.

    Thank you

    Hi Wirehead,

to reset please first remove the battery and charge it again to make sure that it is firmly connected.

Charge the battery to 100% full, then use your V570 on battery only until 10 to 15% batt power is left.

Stop then restart and immediately press the F2 key and hold until you see the first screen of the BIOS.

Now let V570 slowed down until the battery is empty and the laptop turns off by itself.

This will create a reference of empty battery for the control circuits.

Plug then the charger for a few hours, then start and make sure you fully 100% of charge batt.

Then again run the laptop on battery only and I hope that you will get 2-3 hours of the lamp

until the low battery warning appears.

  • Wake on Lan for HP Envy laptop m4

I have a HP ENVY laptop m4 running Windows 8.1 (64-bit).  The laptop has a Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter. I can't get to respond to any package of Wake-On-Lan.  The computer is connected wireless to 90% of the time.  At this point, I have not tried a sequence of waking with the wired connection, so I can't tell if it's successful.

My question is: is-possible WOL with the Ralink card? And, if so, how you configure it?

    Thanks in advance

The first thing you need to know is that it doesn't seem to be a WOL enable\disable option in the BIOS of your laptop want m4.  That does not make a non-viable option using WOL.

You should read the following article on the How to Geek on WOL.

Yes the network LED turns on, but the motherboard is still as built, so the BIOS needs updating.

If the hotfix is not installed, how can I get it to install?

Your question is too vague.  Most of the life themes battery by Windows XP tasks occur only in some computers - and yours may or may not benefit from all the suggested fixes.  In addition, some of these plots have been released a long time ago and were likely incorporated into a later Service Pack.  You should have installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP 5 years.

If you want to use your laptop as a portable device, I suggest you buy a battery - not the cheapest possible one - and use it for a while.  If you experience shorter than the normal battery life, you can ask for help then or read through the results of this research--> http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?query=battery+life+xp&x=4&y=8&mode=a&spid=global&catalog=LCID%3D1033&wa=wsignin1.0

  • Can I use Wake-On-LAN with P1606dn printer?

I have a printer laser P1606dn that is installed remotely and remote voltage.

When it is first turned on, the button on the front should be pressed to coax the printer in life.  It will turn green and we are ready to go.  After that, even if it fell into energy saving mode, sending a commnad impression he wakes up and network printing works very well.

However, I would like to finish with the market support the button when it is first turned on.  I tried to use a command to Wake-On-LAN for the addess IP and MAC to the printer, but nothing happens.

I realize I could leave it powered permananetly but don't want to do that because there are other devices on the same power supply that must be turned off at night.

How can I me he waking distance?

    Thank you very much.

Oh well, thanks for looking anyway.

Apparently a design flaw strange that a printer must be turned on manually until it works, but I guess I'll have to put up with it.  The 15th year, Laserjet 4 M - PS it replaced has not caused as much fuss.  Progress!

  • Cannot use Wake on LAN, unless that "allow this computer to turn off the device to save power" is checked

Wake on LAN - power management

On my Media Center PC, I am unable to use Wake on LAN unless "allow this computer to turn off the device to save power" is checked (in the tab power management of the adapter in the Device Manager). "Allow this device to wake the computer" and 'Allow only a magic packet wake the computer' is checked, but become grayed out when "allow this computer to turn off the device...". ' is not checked.

The problem is, Wake On Lan doesn't work unless the computer has been asleep for a short period of time. If I try to activate the computer using WOL after about 10 minutes, he never wake. I guess that's because "Allow this computer to turn off the device to save power" is checked, the machine is before turning off the network adapter.

Is it possible to force the computer to disable the NETWORK card, but would retain the capability of WOL? Or ensure you THAT WOL works little regardless of how long the PC has been asleep?

The machine is a Windows 7 PC with a Nvidia nforce network controller.

By the way, I have a laptop on the same cable network that has all three items checked in the tab for its NIC device power management, and this machine can be awake at all times using WOL, regardless of how long he has been asleep, this issue must therefore be with the configuration of the Media Center computer.

I would be really grateful for any suggestion, I spent a lot of time trying to get this to work!

    See you soon

    Hello

If the systems are only a sleep you don't need a magic packet.

If computers are set to wake on any network traffic all Ping or arp will wake them up.

For this configuration, it is best to disable the saving of NIC.

There may be some variations on where is the energy saving setting.

Here are a few examples, YMMV, look around your systems.

Real means WOL shut down a computer on Hibernate real position, http://www.ezlan.net/WOL.html

However as these has involved the PSU cooperation. Motherboard. Network card and are not considered critical by the industry for the user end is a YMMV situation.

12 Desktop who are under my immediate control (mix and match brands and processors). Only three are fully compliant and properly awake.

Three satisfied partially, the rest don't care my desires/needs of Wake on LAN.

On the positive side, since it is now fashionable to go green, the percentage of new computers that keep the better sleep habits significantly improved.

  • Wake-on-Lan Pavilion p6130y?

I have several HP desktop computers, that support wake-on-lan. I just bought a p6130y and immediately installed Windows 7. I can't WOL to work on it. (I have others updated for Win 7 and WOL works for them).

    (1) it is not mentioned in the BIOS, but
    (2) the Device Manager indicates it is enabled on the LAN.

My question is: is taken WOL supported on the p6130y?

    Derek

Fixed!   I reinstalled Win 7 tonight (this time 64-bit), and this time this WOL worked right out of the box!   Guess we will have to put down for one of life's little mysteries.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Wake on LAN - AirPort Extreme

I'm trying to configure the Wake on LAN for my AirPort Extreme and Windows 7 PC, reboot with my iPad.  It works fine when the iPad is on the local network, but no power on the PC when I'm not on my network domestic.  I put airport to the port before 9 to the PC as directed, and made sure the PC has been configured to accept magic packets.  Any help?

Apple wake on lan system is different... and there is a good chance the router from Apple not go to work.

The best and easiest around the issue is to install a different router... and use airport extreme for the wireless. Make sure the PC is connected to the main router although no airport.

  • Need new battery for Satellite Pro U200-182

    Hello

I m needing help on the purchase of new battery for Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 - 182
No model origin. what I found on old battrey is PA3356U - 3BRS with parameters: DC10.8V - 4700mAh

When I tried searching on the web I found that this trick
    http://smart-parts.NET/bsearch.php?brand=Toshiba&name=satellite%20PRO&SER ie = U200% 20Black & model = U200-182

I would like to ask if I can buy it (if this battery will be compatible) and also if its possible to buy the battery longer "life."

    Thank you for the help

I found the info that for your laptop model there are two types of battery only:
    PA3356U-3BAS
    PA3356U-3BRS

So if you use Google and put these numbers, you should be able to find an online store where you can buy these compatible batteries.
By the way: link you posted is OK and I don't see the reason why you shouldn't order of it. It is listed as compatible.

To extend the life, you need battery with more cells and ability, but it is unfortunately not available for your laptop model.
