Mac Book Pro and HDMI

A bit of clarification, please:

I'm going to buy a Mac Book Pro or Mac Book Air. The Pro has an HDMI port, right. Can I connect to my TV HDMI port with a cable as I do with my PC. I realize that Air needs an adapter to a certain type of do it, right, but which?

Just a little confused here.  Thank you! B.

Yes, the HDMI cable can connect the MBP to your TV for use as a monitor provided your TV takes over that. The MBA in need: output audio and video HDMI using third-party Mini DisplayPort to HDMI (sold separately) on the Apple Store locally or online adapter: Moshi Adapter Mini DisplayPort to HDMI (4 K).
