MacBook Air (13 inches) early 2014 restart itself

I had this problem where my Macbook Air randomly restarts by itself. Sometimes he just locks (goes to the password screen) even if it is used.

I took it to Geek Squad since I bought this computer at Best Buy, they've had for a week and all I've heard from them is that there is no hardware problem, and that the computer is "optimized" and upgraded. Continues a day after, because I am a broke student, I can't afford to carry anyone at this point and I don't have any form of insurance or guarantee. I tried to reset the SMC, reset NVRAM, open disk utility and repair the disk, reset preferences to default power saver, reinstall OS X about 4 times in the last 4 months trying to get this resolved. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Not enough information on your mac. You can download etrecheck from http://www.etrecheck.com/

then run it, it produces a list (without personal data), copy it to the Clipboard (share button) and post it here.

Who can help us to find a cause for the issue.

  • Anyone have links the Bootcamp Driver for Macbook Air 15 inches (early 2014)

I just downloaded and installed windows via bootcamp 10.

So I need drivers for windows 10.
If someone has the drivers installed on their computer now, or the files for them, if you could please link me to them (upload to mediafire or another host may.)

On a side; note It seems that all drivers are working perfectly fine (for example the drivers from the internet), yet the Apple that will be.

  • Should I get the base Macbook Air 11 inches, the 4 GB of ram?

My use of the computer is basically writing, internet, surfing, streaming videos and music and the occasional simple recording with Audacity (and, eventually, once Garage Band that am I on Mac). I am looking to buy a Mac to last me through my last year of undergraduate and perhaps a few years of graduate studies.

    Here are my concerns:

-4 GB of ram is not enough for the future of the development of software and upgrades of Apple.

-Apple updates their current models in a few months and my timing for purchase is bad.

-I'm on a budget, and even if I can afford the upgrade ram or 13 "MBA, same base MB Pro if I really want to stretch myself, I don't want to pay more, the difference will be extremely useful for me later.

I like the size and feel of the MBA 11 ". But I also like that the 13 '' comes with 8 GB of ram standard, although I honestly don't even know if I need it. But I am attracted by the greater autonomy of the 13 "as well.  I'm not all that warned that with the hardware and software, so I want to just a few balanced opinion.

    Thank you

Your question is a bit like asking what type of car you should buy.  Much of it is your personal preference.

With a budget, however, one thing I can say is that your money would be better spent on additional RAM.  This should be the first place where you spend discretionary funds.

For the rest, for example, 11 "and 13" models, visit an Apple Store and try them both for yourself.

  • Why my MacBook Air is not restart?

My MacBook Air is a little strange. When I click on the Safari icon, nothing happens. When I clicked through launching pad, it tells me "cannot open the application"Safari"because it is not responding."

When I opened the window force quit, he says the only programs running are Finder and Safari. When I try to force quit Safari, nothing happens.

When I try to reboot, I get the popup "Are you sure you want to restart your computer now?", but when I click on "restart" popup disappears and nothing happens. I wait when the countdown timer and restart on its own, nothing happens.

    Reboot does not work either.

I tried to wait a while. Nothing.

When I try to open Google Chrome, a pop up flashes for about one second, which says something about the interruption of a reboot, then breaks down to Chrome. (Even if I do twice on, in which case you would think restarting had already been interrupted, I still get the same error message and crash)

The two other programs I've tried, Photoshop and Textwranger, opened and closed correctly.

Yesterday and a few days before that, I was getting pop ups warning me that my startup disk was full. I went through and deleted most of My Documents, downloads, and the Desktop files and uninstalled all unnecessary programs.

Yet, he always says I have only 12.58 GB free (120,11 GB). The vast majority of my files (87,73 GB), according to the about this Mac falls into the category of 'other '. So I don't really know which of my files that would be.

I still have a good number of iPhone photos stored in iPhoto. Looks like those who would be present as 'photos' rather than 'other', but maybe not.

I had planned to go to iPhoto external hard drive tomorrow night as soon as I'm on my home (where is my biggest external hard drive).

And then to uninstall Photoshop, I guess the biggest program that I installed it, if I had still not enough available disk space.

But now that same Safari does not work, I'm worried, that it could be more serious that comes to move some files from external hard drives. I use Photoshop a lot, so I prefer not to uninstall, if this is not what is causing the problem.

Dumping iPhoto and Photoshop the best way to go? Or is there something else that would cause the large number of 'other' files and the problems I see.

  • Why I can't have a decent resolution of my Macbook Air with an external monitor?

    MacBook Air 13 "(early 2014)

I bought a Samsung S32E590C 32 '' nice monitor but cannot get above 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz (1080 p) using Thunderbolt to HDMI. The resolution is so low that I can't use the screen correctly. I'm afraid I won't be able to get a better resolution with my Macbook Air and will have to sell the monitor...

    Suggestions please.

    Hi sansthwaites,

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support! I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with your MacBook Air and your new view. I'm sure we can help you understand what can happen.

Based on your model described, it seems that the beginning of 2014 MacBook Air should be able to produce a somewhat higher resolution for a monitor external, as shown here:

    Graphics and video Support

    • Intel HD 5000 graphics card
    • Dual display and copy video: simultaneous support for native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

MacBook Air (13 inches, beginning 2014) - technical specifications

However, the max possible resolution may be limited by the type of connection, or the specific adapter you use. For example, this Mini-DisplayPort-HDMI adapter supports up to 4 K (~ 3840 x 2160) resolution:

Belkin 4 K Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter - Apple

    .. supported .While this Mini-DisplayPort-HDMI adapter only supports 1920 x 1200:

Amazon.com: AmazonBasics Mini (Thunderbolt) adapter DisplayPort to HDMI: computers & accessories

Then how you connect to an external monitor can certainly affect the maximum resolution available. In this case especially, however, I suspect that the issue is actually the screen itself, as it appears from the Samsung S32E590C screen to list a 1920 x 1080 max resolution:

Support - curved screens S32E590C | Monitors Samsung

    I hope that was helpful.

  • MacBook air crashes after the release of sleep since the upgrade of the sierra

Began to notice that since I upgraded my macbook air 2015 to sierra, system crashes. The trigger is always when I wake the sleep system (whether it is by opening cover or press a key). Issue is intermittent and may not be reproduced every time. I contacted apple support and they recommended resetting the SMC (ctrl + shift + cmd) but that didn't help either. I also did a check of filesystem (fsck-fy) and which seems to be very well so.

I noticed others seem to be faced with similar problems and a common theme that I noticed was that both we seem to have an installed tardisk. Not sure if this could be a factor?

While it is not any loss of data, the question is certainly annoying and disruptive to work.

The same question was observed at about 7 times since the update of the sierra. Containing the report of Etrecheck to the breast
