  • MacBook Air stops randomly

I am currently on a trip abroad in India (originally from the United States) with my macbook air. About two days after my arrival, my computer started to shut down at random and on a regular basis. As far as I know, there is no reason for the stops - they occur if the computer has a lot of left of the battery, when it is almost empty, when it is plugged in, when it is not plugged, etc. When the computer is plugged into a power source, it usually automatically restarts and resumes operations normal as if nothing was. If it is not plugged in, just off the coast.

Except once, he were not error messages that accompany the stops. An error message I received said something along the lines of 'your computer closed due to a problem'.

There is no apple store where I travel, so take my computer to the genius bar is not really an option. No information on what might be the problem or how to fix this problem would be highly appreciated.

Don't know if it's important, but I spilled some water on my computer a few months ago, but it works normally since then. I was able to reverse the computer very quickly, so I don't think that too much liquid obtained under the keyboard.

    Thanks for your help!

  • my macbook air stops every 5 meters.

    Please help solve this problem

    Thank you

I found that one of our members here (John Galt) responded to a similar question in 2012.   He suggested to reset the SMC.

    * Shut down the computer.

Plug the MagSafe power to a power supply adapter, plugging on the Mac if it is not already connected.

On the built-in keyboard, press Command-Option-shift keys (left side) and the power at the same time button.

Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.

Press the power button to turn on the computer. Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change State or temporarily disable when you reset the SMC.

I think a reset would be a good start.

  • Mid-2012, MacBook Air of random stop

I tried to find a solution to more than a year. My MacBook air has been cutting randomly without warning.

At first I thought it was overheating, so I installed Mac Fan Control and cranked up the fans, but it always stops around 60-70 ° C temperature of CPU, which should be good. The first three years, I owned the computer I never had a single problem and the fan never accelerated where she was audible 2 times.

The error code in the log files is Cause of previous stop - 2, which I can't find a description of anywhere.

I took the computer to the Genius Bar for a verification of the material, but the computer turns off as soon as they are trying to run the test. They wanted to change the logic board for $600 + then I said that I think about it.

If anyone has experienced this? I can find no solution confirmed online and don't know if I have to replace the logic board or card IO first. When he died, it's like it lost power. Immediately turns off. It will not restart for at least 20 seconds, and if I turn on for a few minutes it turns off again before moving on to the screen. However, it will work perfectly sometimes for up to an hour or two.

The computer was pampered life whole and never dropped or spilled on. Looking inside, it looks fine, but tbh I don't know what I would look for.

If anyone has any ideas at all, I'd like to hear them. It's a mid 2012 Air i5 with 4 GB of RAM.

EDIT: Also, I did the resets of SCM, this does not solve the problem.

Why my macbook air back show my Facebook messages when I am not connected? What can I do to stop?

    Hello, welcome to the discussion!

If you are referring to push notifications on your desktop, you most likely have Facebook as an internet account on your MacBook. You can withdraw from your account, or disable notifications for it.

Open system preferences > Internet accounts

    Select Facebook

Uncheck the Notifications tab to disable the notifications or click on the "-" button to remove the account

  • How many times should I stop my MacBook Air

I have a MacBook Air (early 2014), with a processor i5 and 4 GB of RAM. It will be 2 years from November 2016. Summer's going hard for me for a while now and works very well without any problems. I use applications like Final Cut, Motion 5 and Xcode and I am satisfied with the performance of such a light machine.

Apart from the information on my Mac, I have a question about proper use to optimize the performance and life of it. How many times have I stopped him? I use my Mac a day should I allow to sleep when I do not use as it has little effect on the battery and allows me to pick up where I left off. Should I only stopped when loading or is it okay to sleep by loading too? Should I stopped him every month or so or just during the software updates as I prefer to leave is majority of sleep of the time it won't have a long amount of time without me using it.

    Thank you.

If you do not meet the pigs of RAM, there is really no reason to close it. If you don't see the warnings of memory, a simple reboot menu Apple fade issue.

  • Sharing printers has stopped working for me. MacBook Air "think" printer is not connected.

Sharing printers has stopped working for me. I have an Epson Stylus Photo R340 connected by USB to my Mac Mini end of 2012, and until recently, my MacBook Air has been able to print to it. Now, he 'thinks' the printer is not connected. Computers are on WiFi. Both computers have an OS X 10.11.5 now and the latest driver of Epson printer. Printer sharing is enabled in preferences, sharing, and "Share this printer on the network" is checked in the preferences, printers and Scanners. I went through the hoops to remove the printer and add it again on the Mini and the MacBook Air.

Of course, the Mini prints very well via USB. Someone has an idea (that I have not already tried) how to get the sharing of printers to work again?

Other sharing services work, such as the file and screen sharing?

  • MacBook Air keeps stopping itself and gives a report of Panic CPU. Repair warranty or fixable?

My MacBook Air keeps stopping itself, when he is asleep, or even using active? Some big long panic report arrives and I have no idea what all this means, what's wrong with it? She did this 4 or 5 times a week for 2 months now. I read here similar questions but do not understand the answers. It is almost always plugged in power, my 2 year warranty is updated until August 2016, 6 months ago, the motherboard has been replaced and told me that it looks like new. So what's happening? I need a repair under warranty again? I tried to copy and paste the report but I get a message saying that my question has invalid characters?

MacBook Air (mid-2012) the wife has been running Windows 8.1 in Bootcamp without problems. But this morning, it wouldn't start up. It starts to load and then goes to a black screen. • My macbook air keeps building a list of swap file 1.1 GB of files that I have to remove... .because my hd gets stuck. How to stop and cause? Please

This is what it looks like after the removal of all but the swapfile53... (I deleted swapfile1-52) each 1.1 GB

It is excessive swapping of data between physical memory (that is, tokens of memory on the logic board) and virtual memory (one or more files on the boot volume.) This activity is relatively slow and causes the entire system to be less sensitive. It can happen for two reasons:

A process of long duration with a memory leak (a kind of bug)

Not enough memory for your usage pattern

Please note that if the cause is a memory leak, install more memory will not help. It's likely you have already more than 4 GB of memory. Hunt for leaking memory can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.

These instructions are for OS X 10.9 and later versions. Some details may be slightly different for earlier versions of Mac OS X.

When you notice the slowdown, open the activity monitor application, then select all processes in the view menu, if it is not already selected. Select the memory the real Mem of the treatment twice table column header to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you do not see this column, select

View ▹ columns ▹ real memory

    in the menu bar.

If a process (excluding the "kernel_task") uses a lot more memory than all the others, which could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that constantly catches real more memory over time without ever letting go. Here is an example of how it's done.

"Wired" memory should be less than half of the total. That memory is not exchanged, but makes available physical memory that you may then in Exchange. If most of the memory is wired, which can be an indication of a leak memory in a third-party program that modifies the low-level operating system. Ask for advice in this case.

If you do not have a clear memory leak, the options are to install more memory (not possible with a MacBook Air) or less than programs running concurrently.

The following suggestion is reserved for users familiar with the shell. For a more accurate, but potentially misleading test, run the following command:

sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total

where process is the name of a process, you think of a memory leak. Almost every process will cause a memory leak. the question is how, and especially how the leakage increases with time. I can't be more specific. See the manual page leaks (1) and the Apple Developer documentation for more details.

  • How can I get my macbook air to stop repetitive clicks

I just got this computer barely a month, I purchased from best buy and this by clicking. He came to dislike. I don't know what to try, it's not an apple store where I live. What should I do? It still does for some time after I turned it off. How can I solve this problem? It's a 13 in early 2015. I took great care with her, I had a macbook in high school and I remember having heard such a noise on a few of them as well. I am a collage student and need my computer for class almost every day.

    Greetings faiffles,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

I understand that you hear clicking from your MacBook Air and you don't have an Apple Store nearby. In this case, I would advice contacting Apple Support, so we can learn more about this situation.

Contact Apple - Apple Support support

You can also see an Apple authorized service provider if you have one nearby. The following link has the details.

  • Add a second macbook air, now the airport extreme has stopped working

I got a new (for me) 2012 macbook air to replace my MBA 2010 last night. I had another macbook air on the network to download some files in iCloud. As soon as I started the MBA new upward across the network crashed. (Features were always connection ac Airport Extreme router, green light, but no internets).

Restart the router helped briefly before the problem comes back. When I connect with the new MBA, I had seen an error there are two Macbook Air on the network and it was changing the name of one of them.

I read somewheres that download great traffic and a lot of features sometimes overwhelms the airport extreme (huh? not very extreme), so I made the turn power off the wireless on iPad, apple tv and the old MBA. This, most reboot the router and the modem seemed to do the trick for a while, until that there no more.

I read around DiscoveryD and the problems with Hello. Will try this angle when I go home.

I see here that maybe I need to reset (rather than just reboot) my router now that there's a new kid on the block - the new MBA.

    Any other ideas?

Where did you got your 'new' MacBook Air? Apple or an evening private? If the latter, it can be configured as such not "play well" with your existing home network. If you have received this by a private party, I strongly suggest you reload a clean version of the feature of MacOS X. In this way you will start with a Mac "out-of-the-box" and should have an easier time getting connected to your network without problem.
