  • MacBook Pro mid-2009 vs MacBook late 2009 - macOS Sierra

    Hi all

Can anyone please explain to me, why we can't install macOS Sierra on MacBook Pro mid-2009 models and can install it on the MacBook models end 2009? I checked the specifications of these two laptops and they are quite similar, where MBP is faster/more stronger and it's really not any sense that we cannot move to the Sierra.

    -Processor is the same/more fast (both are 45mm Penryn - http://ark.intel.com/compare/40380, 42014)

    -Same/more fast GPU

    -Memory even more

What material might be different? A tiny chip (part of) the motherboard?

Am I missing something or Apple made a mistake?

    Kind regards

The previous model lacks some materials needed for execution of Sierra, which was included in the successor model.

  • Mac Pro early 2009-7950 HIS Itceq Turbo / 3GB

    Hello

I bought a GPU 7950 HIS Itceq Turbo / 3GB GDDR5. I tried with the Mac Pro early 2009 (10.9.5) and a 4K monitor, but it does not work perfectly.

The DVI output is good, but the max resolution only 1080 p. If I use with cable MiniDisplay, and view the right side monitor scratches and horizontal 5 seconds noise appears on 60 Hz. The monitor works fine on 30 Hz. I tried SwitchResx app for the best refresh rate, best rate exceeded the 55 Hz, but the horizonte noise not.

The other problem, the boot music played twice each time, so pluged the DVI. If the MiniDisplay cable was plugged music start playing around and he played with white screen. The only way to start if you connect the cable

The seller never try it with a 4K monitor, so I do not know is the card works well.

The 4 K is Acer BX320HK. It works very well with the MacBook Pro late 2013 (10.10.5) with Nvidia GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB same MiniDisplay-Display cable.

Is there someone who uses this card with MacPro and 4 k monitor?

    Thank you!

The specifications of the card say:

    2560 x 1600 per display (DVI Dual-link)

    You use a dual-link cable?

I can't find the manual so I don't know what input DVI resolution lets you get.

What version of OSSX on the MacBook Pro? If more Mavericks try upgrade to the same version of OSX, you can do a test on another HDD for testing with installation.

  • Upgrade SSD for Macbook Pro?

I have a Macbook Pro (early 2011) and I would like my mac by installing a SSD 15'. He got a 2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor. My laptop started to slow down a lot and it lags when I use photoshop or when I'm editing videos, so I thought I should spend my hard drive for an SSD. But I don't really know what SSD to buy it. My friend recommended the Kingston SSD UV400, but I read that some people have complications after installing the SSD on their Macs. I really don't know much about these things, I'm looking for insight. Someone at - it recommendations for SSDS, I should get? I'm looking at a minimum of 480 GB for storage and, ideally, something lasting!

    Thank you very much!

Currently, the best options are the OCZ ARC-100 series, the 850 series of Samsung (good price on Amazon) and 6G OWCseries. OWC also has tool boxes if you need it and installation tutorials. If you want to keep the HARD drive then you buy one of their media DataDoubler to put the old HDD in the space occupied by the optical drive. It can even include an enclosure for the optical drive.

How to use an SSD with your HARD drive

If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.

After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.

Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.

Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.

Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.

  • Cannot update software on MacBook - white, early 2009

I'm new to Mac OS.  I only got the iPad and iPhone.

    I bought an antique MacBook, white/early 2009.

-OS x 10.6.8 4 GB of ram, 107 GB available hard - not SSD disk

Great, runs fast.  The case seems new, perfect condition.

It is said there are updates available, for many things, but they won't install.  I have download, the system begins to restart, but remains on the desktop with wallpaper only - no icons, etc.  Manual reboot simply cancels the update process.

I don't need this notebook, I just want to get some applications or programs that connect with applications on my other devices, but this version OSX is too old.  Therefore, I made a mistake buying this MacBook - only error of $100.  Don't know if I'll keep it.  However, it is pretty sweet.

Please use the numbers of the BONE, if possible, when you reply.  I don't know the names of the different versions - like Maverik, El Capitan, etc..

    Thank you

The computer that you identified as MacBook5.2 (13-inch early 2009)

should be able to run El Capitan OS X 10.11.6 as it is downloaded from

the Mac App Store online. This is the download of the available system only

which would be upgraded to the latest OS X.

Other than this free update, the other option would be to buy a

old Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 redemption code Online

    Apple Store, which would then be used in the App Store for download;

It would cost $19.99 (buy at the Apple Store; download App Store)

Don't know what you found or tried to download. Remember if you try

to use the Mac App Store since in Snow Leopard, you

Use your own AppleID because all updates and upgrades will bind the

OS X computer and just bought the software to your AppleID.

And any subsequent owner of this computer should adapt

the Snow Leopard 10.6.8 using App Store database. The

model that you probably won't be able to use the next OSX

not yet released version; El Capitan is what should be judged.

If you upgrade to a system later has no install DVD media,

the owner later would need boot Snow Leopard 10.6.3

the retail DVD and then update. While they could use their AppleID to

Customizing the computer for their own use. So to enter the

install the disc media for the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 system with the

computer, is a key to set up for future upgrade online users.

There are other details in the present, perhaps someone can offer those

because I need to be offline now.

    Good luck & happy computing!

Where can I find Keynote v6.5, for Macbook Pro?

The Mac App Store has only the latest version of any application. The only way to install an earlier version of Mac App Store apps is so if you have a backup on the Mac, another Mac or a separate disk file.

  • MacBook pro mid-2009 can not insert disc in the drive

I can't insert a floppy in the drive of my Macbook Pro mid-2009! It's a s if there is a disc already inside - something is it prevents insertion of entirely.

I've tried several "cures" I found on the net - one of them worked for a short period but now the problem is back.

The guys at the genius bar in an Apple store have seen this problem so often, they got some field tools rush this opening and get in and out drives. If who disobeys, they can take in the back and open it to fold the skin of the player, fitness and clear of the issue.

You an appointment for an assessment is free, guaranteed, or rear. In general, if they can solve this problem in less than a quarter hour without spending coins, there is no charge.

  • My Macbook pro early 2015 keeps "freezing".

    Hello fellow Macbook users,.

I have a problem with my Macbook pro early 2015, that bothers me. I've got El Capitan installed 10.11.4.

Maintaining Mac freezing randomly and soon after the touchpad turns off as well. I have no other choice than to turn it off using the power button. I can't find a model by the problem, it's just a coincidence. I am a fairly new Macbook user and I don't have that much knowledge about the product, still.

I really appreciate all the kind of help I can receive.

    Best regards

Download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information

And what would be a replacement of the battery in good condition for this?

    Thank you

Hello! The battery is old and has almost reached 1000 charge cycles, which means that it may soon become useless.

I have seen many users asking link to OWC here on the forum and I have seen a lot of positive feedback on this manufacturer, so if you plan to replace the battery, you should consider the OWC part in option.

Even if it is very slow, you must make a return upwards before the race "repair disk". The risk of data loss is minimal, but do it anyway: Save and run to repair the disk.

As for what it implies - most of the time nothing more than simply sitting and waiting to do his thing.

  • I want to exchange a larger HDD (Mac Pro early 2009) and at the same time improve Cougar to El Capitan.

I want to exchange a larger HDD (Mac Pro early 2009) and at the same time improve Cougar to El Capitan. What is the best way to do it?

I think the best would be a new installation of El Capitan on the new HD and reinstall the applications on the new HD, and then migrate the data and setting for the previous version of OSX. In this way the least unused stuff enters the new OSX version
