  Try a test message with Norton shuts down completely. If it works, remove Norton and do a custom Setup, opting out e-mail Scanner when it is offered. Sometimes just turn off is not enough.

  Buy an inexpensive wired USB mouse for less than $5 and see if it works.  As far as I'm concerned wireless mice are more trouble than they are worth.  YMMV :-)

  I wanted to say thanks for trying to help figure this point. Believe it or not, it turns out that the culprit was the keyboard itself. Option key was fried. Go figure.

  I can t tell you why this happens with your keys, but don t forget that the keyboard is a mechanical part of the laptop such things can happen at any time. I guess you're not the first person who had such a problem. ;)

  In addition, you can t return only unique keys. If certain keys n t work more, need to replace the entire keyboard. Of course you can do it yourself if you want to go to an ASP but if replace you that you pay for a new keyboard.
  I think that the repair shouldn't t take a lot of time. Normally, the keyboard is replaced in a few minutes. Just talk to the technicians.
