Mail is not delete sent messages as described in the preferences

(Grumpy warning: Point - happy warriors FAQ should show fair relevant questions, or I'll make you.)

It is a problem of mail which was me angry for a long time. All my mailboxes are configured automatically delete sent mail after a month. Still my sent mailbox is loaded with mail, on average, age 6 to 7 months. Here are my settings:

OS X 10.11.3. All accounts are IMAP. All email accounts, send and receive are correctly. There are no icons for error next to their names. I have not restarted that 16 days ago, but this problem is much older than that. He is a new user account on a drive wiped with the new OS X installation since last spring.

I usually can't stop Mail, but I did it today, he then revived. Changed settings, before returning to a month. No change. I can't wrap my head around it. I've lived with it because ultimately they are deleted, but I would it work as expected. Any suggestions?

The issue is resolved as of today.

What has not worked:

Reboot was not the solution because I did several times last year the half but I haven't restarted in 20 days. Quiting Mail and re-run it wasn't the fix as I rebooted there is 20 days, and several times last year and half, so there is no reason why this action suddenly fixed things.

What does not work:

I think that to change the parameters of deletion, then again once again, fixed some problem happened 8 months ago when mail stopped removing.

Windows XP SP3 - Outlook Express receives and sends messages, but do not delete received messages.  Can you help?

You have corruption of dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • After saving the emails from windows live mail, why not open them on my computer as the file extension is wlmail.fol?

After saving the emails from windows live mail, why not open them on my computer as the file extension is wlmail.fol?

wlmail.fol is a tiny text giving the name of the folder. The exported messages will have filenames like 00D13E83 - 000025DF.eml. If you don't see all of the files like this, your export probably did not work properly.

For a successful export, follow these directions:

    1. Set Windows Live Mail to work offline before starting.
    2. Create a temporary folder on your desktop * to contain the exported messages.
    3. In the Export Wizard, select the temporary folder, and then select all the folders.* *
    4. When it is complete, check that the number of files in each folder to the temporary folder is one more than the number of messages in the corresponding folder of WLMail.
    5. Copy the temporary file to its final destination.
If you use a reader not NTFS to do this, you will see a warning that certain file properties will not be copied files. This can be ignored.

    * Windows Live Mail do not work with files that are not on a local drive, as opposed to an external or network drive. This is avoided by using the office as a temporary folder location.
    * If you want to export the files sampled only, select each of them containing messages. Subfolders are not automatically selected by default.

I had the same problem at first. You open the e-mail as usual. And then in the Actions drop-down list box, you select the print option. This has worked for me and printed the actual e-mail only.

  • Windows Live Mail 2012 is not saving sent Messages - 8 victory

Recently my laptop was stolen and had to get a new.

Fortunately, I had everything backed up with mypcbackup.com, so not too lost.  However, I have major issues with Win Live Mail.

    1. saved messages are not saving to sent mail.  The boxes are checked.  I checked that "show all messages" is the parameter.  I tried to change the folder to mail to a new charge storage and empty one.  Nothing works.  Someone said that the parameters of time and the region can effect.  Mine are set for time and my correct location even though when I bought the laptop, it has been the standard we TZ rather than my local Malaysia.  This cause a problem?

It is to save the gmail and hotmail sends properly.  Just having problems with my computer and business correspondence which are not mainstream, but have been well until the new laptop to work and win 8.

2 I had restored my backup of emails in mail storage folder, but none of them are picked up by Win Live Mail.  This is very important because it's the last 4 years of work e-mails.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help solve these issues.

    Hi Mattkerr,

I suggest you to uncheck the option to save the messages in the sent items folder. Restart Windows Live Mail, and then check the new option, clickapply , and then click OK.

Also try to rebuild the Windows Live Mail folder and check if this solves the problem.

Step 1: Rename the Windows Mail folder and create a new folder

    a. exit Windows Live Mail.

    b. find the folder of Windows Live Mail .

    It is usually located in:

    C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\

    c. right click on the Windows Live Mail folder and then click Rename.

    d. Add old at the end of the name of the folder so that the folder is now named Windows Live Mail.old.

Step 2: Create a new Windows Live Mail folder and copy the contents of the previous folder.

    a. start Windows Live Mail so that it can automatically create the new Windows Live Mail folder, and then quit Windows Live Mail.

    b. find the new Windows Live Mail folder to confirm that his creation.

    It is usually located in:

    C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\

Note If the new Windows Live Mail folder is compressed, you must unzip this file. To decompress, right click on the Windows Live Mail folder, and then select extract.

    c. open the Windows Mailold live folder.

    d. open the Local folder and copy theaccount {xxxxxxxxxxxxx} .oeaccount . Notice thatxxxxxxxxxxxxx represents numbers or letters.

    e. Paste the file in the Local folder in the new Windows Mail folder (that was created in step 1 of this procedure).

    f. If the following folders are present in the Windows Live Mail.old folder, copy each folder and paste it into the new Windows Mail folder.

    o stationery

    Microsoft o community

    g. close all folders.

Step 3: Import messages in Windows Mail

    a. start Windows Mail.

    b. import the messages into the previous Windows Mail folder to the new folder. To import the messages, follow these steps.

    i. click file, point to importand then click Message.

II. click Windows Live Mail in Select a programand then click Next.

III. click Browse, select the Windows Live Mail.oldlocation and then click Next.

IV. click all folders inSelect the folderand then click Next.

    v. click Complete, and then the messages will be imported in file imported.

    c. place the messages that have been imported into any folder to the folder appropriate under the Local folder. For example, move messages in the Inbox under the imported folder folder to the folder Inbox under Local folder.

    d. check if blocked messages are deleted. If this is not the case, try to send or delete messages.

If the problem still persists, then I suggest you to post the same question in the Windows Live Mail forum for more help on this issue.

  • iOS 10 Mail crashes after deleting some messages

On my iPad after installing iOS 10 Mail closed unexpectly after deleting some messages. In addition, I regret the disappearance of the "remove all" button on some of the issues.

Try resetting your device. This will not erase your data stored on that device.

    • Press and hold the sleep/wake button
    • Press and hold the Home button
    • Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.

Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings

If that doesn't work, restore your device to factory settings. Please note that this will delete the data on your device.

  • Sent messages appear twice in the "Sent" folder

Whenever I'm using Thunderbird 38.1 on Windows 10 to send a message, the message is saved twice in the "Sent" folder I don't have an account with Thunderbird. If I delete this message, the single message sent is displayed twice in the folder "deleted".

Also, is it possible for me to get rid of the files the? I never got a message in them, and I see no need of them. If they are useful, can I at least integrate with records above them, which contain all messages on my email account?

    1. it is indeed a problem with outlook.com.

Simply right-click on the account in the folders pane and select settings.
Copies and records say Thunderbird does not make a copy of the mail sent anywhere.

    2. that depends on your account is IMAP or pop.

    • If it's POP, you can combine

In the account settings > server settings > select advanced use global inbox instead of the Inbox for this account.
Note in this case to any mail account records in local folders first that account records will be more visible after the change.

    • If IMAP is all I can suggest use unified folders view. This is the view (alt + V) menu > folders > unified.

Local folders are local storage. In the case of an IMAP account, it is very important. Move messages to local folders removes the mail from the server, so you can archive mail on your computer you want is no longer online. You can also use local folders to make copies of important mail if you have two chances to lose.

  • Mac Mail did not request a new password after changing the outside

    Hello world

I recently changed my password of gmail on their web site after "suspicious activity" had been detected. But Mac Mail does not work. Still able to send and receive emails and it asks me to enter a new password.

How is that possible? Any ideas?

If you have enabled the validation in 2 steps, you generated a password specific to the application in your Google Mail account and it is entered instead of the login password you use on the Web site.

  • Windows 8.1 with Bootcamp installed in El Capitan. Do not delete with Bootcamp so I used the disk utility. Now, Windows always tries to start with an error, the 'other' space illustrates.

Long story short, I installed windows 8.1 using Bootcamp, went very well. I was just curious how it would go.

in any case, tonight, I decided to delete the Windows partition (Bootcamp Partition), and I got an error in Bootcamp that says "sorry couldn't do Mac OS partition a new»

With that I went to the disk utility and tried to partition the disk on a partition again, which it did, but now I have 40 GB of "other space". I literally have nothing stored on this computer, until I installed Windows 8.1 which was not there.

Also, when I start it up I always get Windows start first if I do not hold Option, then it goes to the blue screen, obviously because he's not here.

I started to recover, tried to fix it, verify, erase free space, etc.. I'm running a MacBook Pro 13 "128GB 2015.

On a Mac of 2015, the disc is divided into a group of logical volumes and Volume for OS X, and a partition for Windows. If BCA fails to restore it correctly, the part of Windows do not get properly gathered in the LVG/LV. The other questions you have, it's that there are remnants of the Microsoft your EFI partition Boot code.

To solve both, the easiest and safest method is

1 backup OSX and all of your files - use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

    2. boot into Internet recovery (CMD + Opt + R) - OS X: on OS X Recovery - Apple Support .

    3. click on Utilties-> disk utility and erase your entire internal drive.

    4. restoration of OSX and your files - use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

This requires another external drive that can accommodate TM backup - backup disks that you can use with Time Machine - Apple Support .
