  Hi all

  I'm having a problem about the privileges on a farm at my place of work. The problem is this: my user belongs to a group (authenticated against an Active Directory domain) which plays the role of administrator of the entire farm. However, on a specific folder, another group (which I also belong, same AD domain) is configured with the user of the Virtual Machine role.

  The result is that the level of privilege that I have on the record is not that of an administrator, but as a simple user (so the lowest level possible).

  Is there a way to change this behavior, perhaps with a configuration setting? It is not possible to have my user name removed for the second group, I have to find another way.

  Please help me solve this problem.

  Several permission settings

  If multiple group permissions are set on the same object and the user belongs to two or more of these groups, two situations are possible:

  • If no permission is set for the user on this object, the user is assigned to the set of privileges assigned to the groups of this object.
  • If a permission is set for the user on this object, the user's consent takes precedence over all permissions group.

  I just tested against vCenter 5.1 and get the expected behavior as above...

  Daniel is an AD account in the group Admins of ESX in AD assigned to the Administrator role in vCenter.  Daniel is also assigned to the ESX unalterable group.  If I create a new folder in "folder1" vCenter and assign ESX Read-Only read-only permissions on this file, the account of daniel has access read-only as expected.  The permissions set on the child object folder1 override inherited permissions.

  The above permissions by leaving in place where daniel is a member of an administrator (legacy) and read-only group (child object) on Folder1, but with more specific permissions on the child object taking precedence.  If I add in the permissions of the user as administrator on Folder1 daniel, daniel now has permissions of administrator on this issue.  The user has set the permissions on the object takes precedence over all permissions group.

  I have to respect (and I can) my catalog PSE & Photos:

  (2) on a home network location where two users could access photos to organize and edit (with a "lock-out" for the photos that are being edited by the user of the computer)?

  Are there other good or better procedures to manage multiple users of the PSE?

  There may be different solutions, but they are not just technical, they also depend on how you want to cooperate.

  In your case, you have two powerful PC with enough disk space. I would say that on the other hand, you will need an external drive for backups.

• How can I hide some folders from start menu to certain groups of users on Windows 7?

  Our company has a record in our record system which Start Menu contains all the administrative and user management tools. Recently, we noticed that our other members of the staff (Standard users) can access this folder. It concerns us because the 'Administrators' folder contains Applications such as the command prompt and a shortcut to the center of disk management. Is there a way we can hide this folder in the Start Menu? Our employees are organized in groups that correspond to their service, in order to hide the folder from several groups of users would be helpful.

  Do not put in the folder all USERS with access to... (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu) and put only in the user profiles you want (C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu)

  Windows 7 Home Basic Edition under the snap-in to manage local groups is not included. However, you can do the work manually as follows:

  1 log in under an administrator account.

  2. click on the start planet.

  3. type cmd.exe in the search box.

  4. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter

  5. click on "run as Administrator".

  6. type the following commands and press ENTER after each:
  net localgroup "Family" / Add
  net localgroup
  net localgroup 'Family' 'Jack' / Add
  net localgroup "family".
  net localgroup 'Family' 'Jack' / del
  net localgroup 'Family' / del

  I run a web site, ASP.NET 1.1 (not app) on Win 2003 server and IIS 6.  Users around the world have used for years.  Around June, a small group of users in the same office began to not be able to connect.  I have followed the issue to the fact that the USER. IDENTITY.NAME is not met.  IIS IWA turned on and I think anonymouse access disabled.  But I also played with these settings and received no differences other than blocking everyone.

  During troubleshooting, I found:

  1. THE USER. IDENTITY.NAME is filled if they use Chrome (same computer, the same user account,.. .just Chrome instead IE 8).

  2. we reconfigured a new laptop.  Windows and IE installed costs.  They remote desktop for the new laptop computer and get the same error.  I have Office remotely and able to connect just fine am using IE 8.

  3. I thought something with their power of Attorney might be the issue.  I caught their proxy file.  Nothing has changed.  I always log in fine.

  I'm not able to solve this further and think there must be a setting in their account windows or something that causes it is not to define.  The thing I don't understand is why Chrome works?
