Management IP on ESXi console is now the IP of vMotion?

Hi all

Yesterday I had to change the IP addresses on 4 ESXi hosts and I was informed by a colleague that the simplest way would be to add another port of kernel vm standard vSwitch, give the new IP address, DNS update and then delete the original vmkernel port. It seemed to work, but noticed last night when connect you to the console via iRMC (Fujitsu ILO version) that the IP address of the console is now the same has the IP of vMotion.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

sitting on a dvSwitch vMotion and he says that it's vm kernel 1 port and my new core of management port I created appears as port of kernel vm 2.

Here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problems of conversion of PDF to MS Word document.  I managed to convert 4 files and now the subsequent files generate a "Conversion failed" error when you try to convert the file.  I have a big manuscript and I separated each chapter to help the conversion; as I said, the first 4 pieces without problem, then the conversion failure.  I tried to convert the document integer and same result.  Specifically, I bought the feature export to Word.  Please help.  I had initially export the Word Perfect PDF document and attempting to pass PDF to MS Word.

    Hi sdr2014,

I'm sorry to hear that your conversion process is at a standstill. It seems that the problem is not specific to a single file, you have been unable to convert anything, since the first four chapters of a correct conversion.

    So, let's try this:

If you want to convert via the ExportPDF site, please sign out, clear the browser cache, and then reconnect. If you use the drive, please choose Help > updates to ensure that you have installed the latest version.

Please let us know how it goes.

  • Attempt vSwitch configuration change and now the ESXi host and virtual machines offline

So I have no doubt, I have myself to blame for this one. I was trying to change my vSwitch from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps when an 'operation timed' error out jumps-to the top and my vCenter Server lost connection with my ESXi host. I tried to restart the host manually, but that did not help. The host is not the ping requests and all the virtual machines on that host are offline; None of them vMotion off to my other ESX Server.

I tried to reconnect the host computer in vCenter, but it is obviously does not connect because it can't ping it. I logged the ESXi console and all the network settings appear to be correct. I'm used to connect to the ESX console where you can execute commands, but it's my first ESXi host, so I don't know what I can do.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    -D.

If you had your management port and VMs on different vSwitches / NIC leave on framework would eliminate a false positive. As in your case the management port reportedly follows the cable / about speed, but the virtual machine network would be intact (and I'm assuming that your storage space as well).  In this case the VMs system would have worked very well even if the management port did not work.

  • Change IP ESXi console reviews

    Hello

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the static IP address of the ESXi console prompt? The ESXi server is not on the network, and the guests are running. I can not connect to the server from vSphere client, but I need to change the IP addresses of the clients before I put the server on the network.

    Thank you.

Create a new vSwitch without physical connections in it. Configure the virtual machine / systems use the vSwitch the first time you turn on the guests. With that, they will be out of your network, but you should still be able to manually assign the IP configurations settings / NETWORK card inside the VM to what they should be. Then, change the network card in the computer network connection virtual is set to use up to one with a Teddy allocated.

  • To identify the address IP of BMC in ESXi console

    Hello

Is there a command to esxcli to identify the address IP of BMC of the node started ESXI?

In the Linux machine, 'ipmitool lan print' will list the of the BMC IP address assigned to the node...

    any ideas?

Unfortunately it seems not exist a standard esxcli of builtin command to query the IP Address of management controller.

But you can query local shell ESXi CIM providers and get IP address like this:

    # enum_instances OMC_IPMIIPProtocolEndpoint root/cimv2 | grep IPv4Address

    IPv4Address = 10.2.1.17

You can do also makes a request of information the remote host CIM, for example like this:

    $ curl - sk https://myesxihost.local:5989 / cimom -x POST root user.

    H ' content-type: application/xml; charset = "utf-8" '.

    H ' CIMMethod: ' EnumerateInstances------.

    H ' CIMOperation: MethodCall'.

    H ' CIMProtocolVersion: 1.0 '.

    H ' CIMObject: root/cimv2 '.

    -data '

    ' | grep-A1 IPv4Address

Enter password for user "root": Home

    10.2.1.17

These are generic methods of CIM which should work with any standard IPMI device and don't require any special drivers/extensions by a hardware vendor.

  • Synch Media Player created a partition on my camcorder DXG-579v - now the only record camera 4 minutes on an 8G flash drive

How can I get rid of the partition? The camera now has a F & a G drive, & is much larger than the other. I don't want to sync anything on camera.

Tried to reformat - only reformatted the smaller disk.

Also - Media Player never changes the file extensions?

    Hi Hububa,

Media Player does not change the file extension, unless the user he orders him to do so.

Remove the partition from the partition for the management of records and then put in shape then fomat the camera flash player.

Follow the steps below to remove the partition management diska

    a. log on as an administrator.

    b. Click Start, run, type compmgmt.msc and click OK.

    c. in the console tree, click Disk Management. The disk management window appears.

  • Install ESXi 5.5 restarts the Adaptec RAiD card

    Hello

I have a job im trying to install ESXi 5.5 on. I got it running on the machine perfectly well until I added a map of Adaptec Raid 3805. Now when I try to install ESXi it restarts everything when trying to load the AACRAID driver. It isn't hanging or show all errors. It just restarts immediately.

VMware claim the Adaptec 3805 is compatible with ESXi 5.5

Anyone got any ideas on why this is happening?

    Managed to solve this problem.

I had to disable virtualization technology Intel® for Directed i/o in bios and now the installation program works perfectly

  • ESXi Hypervisor - start of the guest on the question of booting operating system

    Hi all

I am very new to the game of VMware and I intend to start playing with free products available and to acquire a good understanding of it.

My question that I have currenty obtained is:

I have my desktop PC, I intend to install 5.1 ESXi hypervisor on it and then install a version of windows as a guest operating system.

I hope that I can set up so that when I turn on the computer, windows automatically boots - so if my wife wants to use the computer, it can still, and his experience is no different. However, I can then install several other OS and turn them as and when I need and have a good game.

Reading through the documentation that it doesn't look like this is possible?

I know that this is not strictly the destination of the product, but it would be convenient for me.

Has anyone encountered this before? / You know a way to do this?

    Thank you very much

    Tom Whittle

Welcome to the community - it is possible to have a virtual machine to run at startup of the ESXi Hypervisor but where your solution falls short is you are not able to access the virtual machines in the ESXi host console - you still need another machine to run the vSphere client so you can manage the ESXi host and access the virtual machine.

  • [SOLVED] Help: Snapshot showing is not in Manager snapshots, but 0000002.vmdk always in the vicinity

    Hello community,

Here's the problem: one of our most important servers (Windows 2008 R2, Exchange 2010) got a software update, so we used clichés, which removed right after the update went smothly.

Now, some time later, I saw that the 000002.vmdk file is always there and always referenced when I check the properties of the virtual machine.

So this happened not recognized for some time now, the server has 3 virtual drives, two of which have these snapshotfiles, 25GB and 50GB the other short.

I've been digging around the internet for some time now, and so far the only solution I found was to create a new snapshot and then select "Remove all" since the Snapshot Manager. Thus engage all snapshot of the files at once.

Fortunately, we have still some 700 GB of space on the volumes, but I'm not sure about this procedure. With snapshots of this size, there will be a delay (I think that's what happened the first time) or something else. When this server going boom, we have a problem. (of course, there is a backup, but I'm not Admin Exchange and this guy is on vacation, murphy...)

You think it's a good idea? Any other ideas?

    Oh, our environment:

    vCenter 4.1 345043

    ESXi 4.1 582267

    Sincere greetings,

    Thomas

    Welcome to the community,

with ESXi 4.1 in place, you should have any problems with delays, so I would go ahead and follow the snapshot create-> delete all routes.

Two thought but since I do not know the workload. Think to delete snapshots after the opening hours (depending on the speed of storage) and be absolutely sure, there is no backup (or something else) who tries to create another snapshot when the consolidation is on!

I would go ahead and delete the snapshots with the virtual machine. IMO it is not necessary to do with the virtual machine off.

  • ESXi does not recognize the PCI network cards

    Good afternoon-

I am trying to add a few new ESXi hosts to my virtual machine environment and I want my NIC integrated with the PCI NICs for tolerance to failures of the team.  ESXi is not to see the PCI network cards.  I can't find a way on how to add them to the host.  Add network cards in VC shows just the cards integrated network, the same as the ESXi console (or what there is of it).  What I'm missing here?  Thanks in advance.

    Server = PowerEdge R710

Is what model of network interface cards?  You may need to install drivers for them - http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_4/4#drivers_tools.

  • Cannot access ESXi host to download the vi client

Just installed ESXi 3.5 on an HP DL360.  After that installation went and changed the configuration of network and account/password root via the console.  Now, I want to install the vi client.  I point a browser on my laptop to my ESXi 3.5 hosts and get a context connection.  I assumed that I would use my root account and the password, but it does not work.  How to do this?

    Never seen anything like this.

Please check the ip address, subnet mask and gateway you have configured.

If you use the host name of the ESXi in the browser, also make sure that solves the correct IP address. (nslookup YourHostName)

The connection popup shows the name/IP of the ESXi host.

BTW: What DL360 generation do you use. In my lab environment, I'm under ESXi 4 U1 on a DL360G4 without any problem.
