Manipulation of PDF in Flex

Hello

is it possible to manipulate PDFs in Flex 3?

What I want to do is

  • load (not necessarily view) a PDF file existing in a Flex, AIR, AS3 environment
  • read its properties, such as the PDF version and finally
  • make changes to the PDF file, for example to convert the PDF/A for archiving, i.e. Acrobat Standard or professional capabilities.

I know that AlivePDF is THE library when it comes to PDF generation, but is there something similar for PDF manipulation? Or kit Acrobat SDK will be available for Flex programmers to AIR, as in the near future?

Thanks in advance!

Thilo

If I'm not wrong that acrobat has a javascript API that you can use, but it will require that the user have the pro version to do this, I don't think that Adobe will make this a free utility because it is a software that generates a good income for Adobe.

  • manipulation of PDF files on iPad

Hello. I own an iPad Air.

Because of the demands of work, my use of PDF files on iPad is massive. These files are 'stored' locally in iBooks (transferred to the pc via iTunes), but backup to the cloud, as I need to access these files also when I am disconnected from the net.

The problem I have is that I want to take notes on these PDFs and there are a lot of apps out there that do work, but I can't access the files they are 'hidden' in iBooks, and I can't find a find to make them accessible to applications.

a suggestion or something for me?

    Thank you

    Hi Fabrizio, there.

You can Adobe Acrobat, with this app, you can record and edit PDF files.

Opening of iBooks I suggest that you try to 'share' button (the square with the arrow upwards) and see if it is not an option "open in another application" and that choose Adobe Acrobat to other applications using your.

You can also try to post them on your iPad and save them to you favorite application to open PDF documents.

I hope this can help you!

  • Upgrading RAM on Flex 15

There is no mention of this in the textbooks and a basis of knowledge/google search was in vain. The one I bought has 4 GB of RAM and is supposed to be expandable to 8. How can I do this?

Good day and welcome to the community.

To clarify, you have the original 15 Flex, or the most recent Flex 2 15?

Here is material for each manuals:

    Flex 15: http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_flex14flex15_hmm.pdf

    Flex 2 15: http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_flex_2_14_flex_2_14d_flex_2_15_flex_2_15d_hmm...

If you have the original model, please consult its manual page 38. It seems that there is one DIMM, so upgrading RAM location would require swapping in an appropriate plu DIMM.

If you have the newer model, please consult its manual page 42. There seems to be 2 DIMM slots, so upgrading RAM can be as simple as adding a module additional DIMM, if your existing configuration is 1 x 4 GB.

I hope this helps a little.

    Kind regards.

  • Open or save PDF files crashes Photoshop CS4

Whenever I try to open a PDF file or save a file (for example a flattened PSD or a JPG) as a PDF from Photoshop, it will crash and give me an error report.  My Macbook Pro is only 2 months old, so I thought that maybe CS4 was simply too old for her, but all the other aspects of the program works perfectly and only manipulation of PDF files will give me this message and cause the crash.  However, I just installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC earlier today right before trying to save/open these PDF documents, so I don't know if this has something to do with this issue.

In addition, I tried to convert a JPG file to PDF in Bridge and also, he crashed and gave me an error.

Yosemite OSX 10.10.1 and already updated CS4 11.0.2 using (and had this error before and after this update).

I rarely have problems with Photoshop, so I'm not very familiar with a problem like that.

After various attempts at solving problems, I discovered that the problem was caused by a corrupted font, that I discovered by validating and accordingly to remove the incorrect font files.

I wanted to put it out there, just in case it helps someone else who might have the same problem.

  • Reader crashes when opening the pdf while UAC elevation

    Hello

I'm a developer who has a package installer for our software which, of course, requires UAC elevation to perform the installation.

On the last screen of the installer, we try to give the user the possibility to open a .pdf of our user manual.  Any other than .pdf format works very well, but Adobe Reader will not open, and once this has happened, Adobe Reader does not work at all until the user opens a session and return to.

Comments of the vendor of the package install (Setup factory):

    > >On Windows 8 and 8.1, Adobe Reader does not start correctly when it is called from the high count (after UAC has been shown and has been granted access). If you perform the same script from a facility that has been manifested to run "as applicant", you will see the PDF document opens correctly, which suggests that there is some kind of problem with the Adobe sandbox. If another application PDF, such as Foxit or SumatraPDF, is installed on the target computer and saved for the manipulation of PDF documents, you will see that the file opens correctly, even when the viewer of documents is launched, after the elevation of the user took.

This seems to be a bug in Adobe Reader?  Or am I missing something?

    Eve software postage

I'm not saying that it was designed to work that way, or that everything is fine. But it can be good for you (and me) to review, it's a good idea to run Adobe Reader unnecessarily high. Similar considerations apply to the choice that many installers are doing "run applications now?" at the end.

(Security scenario: lock PC.) Admin comes to install your software, between the password for UAC. Installation in competition, starts. The user now has a copy of Adobe Reader, where they can record in tight areas, perhaps compromising safety).

(Privileges Scenaro: elevation software creates a file of preferences, as an administrator.) Later runs, not high, can not overwrite the preferences file, leaving the user to have preferences).

(System scenario: I read that communication with the shell does not work for a higher app and shell not higher.) No further details).

  • Wrong icon in the Menu Start 10 Acrobat

I have Acrobat X Pro on a new computer running Windows 10. Recently, I noticed that the Acrobat icon on my menu start changed the icon Photoshop PS. When I click it, it opens Acrobat, but it is the icon of the PS on the taskbar. When I go to the location of the application in Windows Explorer, the .exe file has the correct Acrobat icon. If I create a shortcut on the desktop, the icon is also correct. When I pin the shortcut or .exe file in the menu start, however, it replaces the PS icon. When I right click and go to properties, the 'change icon' button is grayed out.

While this does not seem to take into account the problems of functionality, it is annoying and I worry, it might be another matter. MalwareBytes scans turned up clean, but obviously I am concerned also with the possibility of a virus. I tried 'Repair Acrobat Installation' as well, but no luck.

I don't know if this is something Acrobat or a problem of Windows 10, since it seems to happen only with the icon on the start menu. The only possibility I can think is that I had done research on some software manipulation of PDF for the client's work. I don't know if this has changed in some way of the icon. I uninstalled the software and the icon is always false. I know, he had problems with PDF being changed for Firefox symbols at the time, but PDF files are very well. It is only the Acrobat itself and only the icon on the start menu.

In any case, I want to remove Acrobat before moving on to the search in Windows 10 as the culprit.

    Than you!

I had the same problem and solved with the following workaround.  Detach your Launcher Acrobat in the task bar and create a new shortcut on the desktop of the "acrobat.exe" in C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat (not from the start menu). Open this shortcut Acrobat and while it is open, PIN to the taskbar.  You can safely delete the shortcut on the desktop after it and the correct icon will stick.

  • Drag and drop leading to variations in printing color

We use CS5 on Mac OS x 10.7.5. We create our files in InDesign and PDF export. When all files are made our users select any PDF document files and drop them in the queue of our Ricoh color copier. We have noticed that when you print this way, PDF files are coming up with changes to the colors. If we open the PDF files in Acrobat and print to the copier of the application, the color is correct.

I thought that by dragging and dropping maybe we were absent on the color settings that are used by the printer when we print of Magnatune, but I used the method of the slide / move on the original InDesign file and there was no change in color, only in the PDF file. Then I realized that InDesign is actually open the file in the background during the move and process of the fall (as evidenced by the temporary files that appear on my computer as it prints them.) and what we put in the print dialog box in InDesign is stored in the document. By example, if I print separations in InDesign and save my file with this setting, and then when I drag and drop the Indesign file I get separations, but not the composite file. So my theory is now that perhaps Acrobat does not save the printer specific settings file, but rather that they are apply only when we print from the application.

I just discovered the printing Acrobat batch functionality and have set up an action to do and which works very well - no color change, but just curious now why the method slip - déposer did not work as expected.

Anyone had experience with this, or have any other theories?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Interesting. I don't know exactly what is happening behind the scenes, but my suspicion is that this is not at all using Adobe technology, but uses Apple built in manipulation of PDF. It is not so sophisticated in Acrobat. And there are also ambiguities in PDF format that allows two programs, both valid, to print in a different way.

You can check if it is the technology of Apple by printing a file to preview. If the color of the drag-and-drop game, it is likely Apple technology is used for printing. What is the 'right' is of course another question!

  • Attach a file after having signed the form

    Hello

In my form there are two signatures. By signing the first signature field is all of the above areas it oneself. Then I have the attchments sections below, it is the second signature field. But if I sign the first signature field does not have the attachment (import data object). I know that it is clearly manipulation with pdf file after the form is signed. I handled the exception and he said: ' not allowed error: security settings prevent access to this property or method ". But stil, l there is no work around through which I can reach this requirement of the company? Help, please!

    Hello

I did this as well and I couldn't find a solution. Once that form is signed the process of attaching a file seems to be considered too much of a change.

For a form we have dropped digital signatures and went with a less secure/robust method to indicate that a section was signed, just so that we can maintain the ability to attach files during the process of the form.

I'm afraid it's one or the other - digital signature or attach files.

    Good luck
