Master pages - header different for chapters

Hello, I am fairly new to Indesign, and I use a template for a book which included put Master Pages implemented with background numbers headers and two superiors.

The left hand one I use for my name of the author and the right, I started to use for the title of the book.

I want to give up the title and replace it with the name of the current chapter, which there are thirty-five chapters.

It seems that I could do this by adding to each separate chapter name as a variable? Or can I create multiple master pages?

Can someone give me the basics as to how I would like to address the issue?

With variables, can I highlight all the pages of the chapter and change the variable for the pages without having to do it page by page?

in any case, and help would be appreciated. As mentioned, this is my first project in this sense.

You need just a field of variable on the master page, based on a paragraph style that you will use only for chapter titles. You can place the title in a box right next to the page, but lost in the background on the first page of your chapter.  Given the title of chapter one time over the first page of the section (as long as he is in contact with the bleed), carries this title the following pages until another instance of this paragraph style is found.

  • Why is the text in my master page header reformatted after the publication of Business Catalyst?

    Everything goes well with the text in my master page header in Muse, but when you are viewing my site online, the text is reformatted and a biased. I contacted tech support, and they told me that there is a problem with Business Catalyst, they are working on right now. The workaround is to open your site in Muse, click 'File', choose 'Properties of the Site' and under "Advanced", uncheck «Enable in the browser Edition.» Once you publish the site again, the problem should disappear. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has had this problem and if this workaround is successful or if you know other solutions.

    Hi Rebecca,.

    If you are publishing to Business Catalyst, go to file > properties of the Site in Muse. The 'Advanced' Panel will turn off IBE. We will address this problem in an update very soon.

  • highest graphic need to master page header

    Hello

    I am a new user and start to take.  However, I need a graph displays a master page header.  I looked into this and found the following:

    "If you want a master item to appear in front of objects on the document page, assign a top layer of the object on the master. An element of master on a top layer appears in front of all objects on lower layers. »

    But how do I do this - the main page of layers do not show on the page of the document.

    Thank you very much!

    I think it's because of the blending Mode. Outer glow by default to the screen, and the shadow cast by default are multiplying. If you change the outer glow blending Mode to multiply, it will behave exactly as in the shadow of a fact.

  • Font size Master page header changes on the slave with the exception of home pages when publishing?

    I added a text box with large text as a header on my master page. Naturally, this header transfers to the pages of the slave and appears in grand in design mode and preview.

    However, when I write the Typekit site, the police of the header appears correctly on the homepage, but becomes very low on the following pages. Yet once, it happens that once I have publish on Typekit, not in the preview of the site in Muse.

    Any help?

    I found this In-Browser editing disabled in file-properties of the Site-Advanced fixed the problem. Header will now appear the same size on all pages.

    Thank you, me, to answer my own question!

  • Pin the Master Page header Panel

    I pinned the header Panel in my Master Page, but when I go to the home page in my browser the page scrolls ON my header Panel - I want to scroll down UNDER the header Panel... someone knows how to do this?

    Thank you

    Hello Aldoc22569958,

    You can fix this with the help of the layers panel.

    1. create a new layer and move items in the upper layer header.  (Select the header items > right click > move to layer > select top layer)

    2. make sure that there are other elements in the layer below the layer of the header.

  • My client needs to change the text that appears on every page of his site, but in the edition browser is not make changes to the master page text. Is there a way for him to do? A special widget or something?

    He wants a place on the header of every page of his Web site where he can post his latest information in real time every day. If he had his way, it would look like a strip of tickets transiting via the header of each page. I was going to include it in the design of the master page header, so all that he would have to do is update the copy on the master and it would update the header of each page. But in the Assembly browser does not work on master pages.

    Is there a way to do this? Even if it's an a widget that has been done by another Member of the community of Muse?

    Thank you.

    By BC you can change the template or page that would change the display, but if the new site is updated to Muse then he would cancel the change.

    Thank you

  • Table of contents using a style/section of the master page

    I'm at the top of my head I think... and probably incorrectly to the top of my document.  I hope I can quickly explain where I am:

    Question 1

    I'd like a Table of contents to use 10 section headers that appear throughout my document.  Here's how I set up:

    • In the master page, a place for the header of section and it gives a paragraph style.
    • Then, throughout the document, I used the "numbering and section options" start each new section and give this article is the unique name.

    When I went to generate the Table of contents, I've specified using this particular paragraph style that I used for the section headers, but nothing appears (except for the title, I asked for the General table of contents).  It's as if this isn't to find the sections - or this style (which applies only to the master page).

    Where am I wrong?

    Question 2

    I wish that my Table of contents, not numbered.  How do I do that?

    Shanell

    I don't know that you understood my post. I was able to do exactly what you did - create a master page with a frame and the section marker character (indicating "section" on the master page) and then add the actual text of the marker in the numbering and section options. The text appears on the page of live document.

    When I tried to do a table of contents, text was not resumed UNTIL I selected and carried this master frame on the page of the document (Ctrl + Shift + click on Windows or Cmd + Shift + click on Mac on the image that you want to replace). After substitution, the text appeared as scheduled in the table of contents.

    You're right about the number of page for this page. You can use another master without a page number, or you can cancel and delete the master page number frame. I assume that you will need to use a different master for the first page and pages in any section to avoid having the marker appear on all pages, or you can replace only the first page so that you don't repeat entries in the table of contents for each page of each section.  If you use the marker as a running header Section, you can learn more about Variables header running in the help files in place. In many ways, the use of a variable can be simpler and more direct.

  • can I change the indents on Master Page without changing the text on the pages already finished?

    Hello

    With the help of experts on this forum, I corrected some problems of dash/tab on my two Master Pages.

    Here's the thing, though - it screwed up the four pages that I already created (and then manually set): the text in the placeholder on the top right text that I had already added to these pages and did other things also.

    I need to create Master Pages to use for all new pages I create in the future?  Or is it possible to set a Master Page and then tell InDesign to apply these changes to the new page I create, but to leave alone the pages already created?

    Thank you, Malcolm

    If the pages need to be different, you can create a new master page for each of these appearances. Conversely, if it's just a one-time deviation from the master, you could click the document page and choose replace all elements of Master Page in the Pages panel menu. The duplicate text boxes that you see is because you have redone the master to the pages of the document. This could be avoided by setting the text frame on the Master Page as a main text block. • Lose the Master Page assignments after import layout

    I have a book with about 40 chapters, and I'm trying to change the page layout.  I update the master pages in Chapter 1 and then use the import formats to import master pages in the other chapters.

    However, when I go in the other chapters, the first pages lose their 'first' assignment page and just came with a normal allocation of L/R.

    If I Master Page use manually and change the first "chapter" page it works OK, but who will become a bit tedious for those chapters.

    Is it possible to keep the existing master page to use assignments when importing to page layout?

    Thank you!

    John

    Ah, interesting.  Of course, during the test of this morning, he had not this problem.

    But your message prompted me to finally understand that cryptic MasterPageMaps and so I made a chart like this, which seems to do the trick:

    Paragraph tag name Right hand Master Page (or master Front Page) Left Master Page Indicator of rank (single, on the pages up to this amended) Comments
    Titrechapitre First Unique Titrechapitre page as the first master page

    Thanks as always for your quick and helpful answer!

  • Multiple master pages, but only first master page is printed or is displayed in the preview pdf.

    Hello

    I have 8 master pages in my adobe form, but when I see the preview PDF or print only the first master page is displayed or printed. Can someone please tell me how to print or pdf preview of all master pages. The contents in the master pages are different.

    Thanks in advance.

    Master pages are used a background for the body (similar to a background image) pages.

    You should put all your content in the pages separate body rather templates.

  • Automatic master pages

    Hello

    Is it possible to have a different master page to the first page and pair selected master page left/right for the rest of the elements. So, something like:

    element X begins a sequence of page (page X_first, X_left/X_right...)

    element begins a sequence of page (Y_first_page, Y_left/Y_right...)

    I can get 1. different page with "single" span in StructMasterPageMap and the rest of the pages with pagination master left/right by default, but not with specific pairs of left/right.

    BR, Martti

    Martti,

    FM leans on all pages of the occurrence of a trigger (paragraph or element) to apply a master page mapping rule. It uses the first found trigger.

    If your structure is little hierarchy, you can use ESD to apply different labels of context items in part X and Y of the part. This allows you to use this context tag in the MasterPageMappings table. My first glance would be to detect something that is 100% chance to appear on the page after the X / Y page title and then set corresponding "until this that changed' mapping rule.

  • Page style changing page to page (fonts, positioning), even with the same master page.

    OK, Ive never noticed this before. Here's the question.

    I have elements such as fonts, positioning evolution page by page. Even when they share the same master page.

    For example. In my footer using fonts im 'A' with focus on my positioning jig.  I'm using this master page for my map of the whole of the site.

    When I publish the site and go to other pages are 'A' becomes Ariail or default, loses all the attributes style and is now turned to the left.

    What is happening here.

    Tour of 'IBE' in the 'Advanced' Panel ' file > real estate Site "to Muse and re - publish. This will be corrected in a 2015.1.2 update that will be released soon.

  • Catalogue with left and right master pages

    I'm sure it's a pretty easy question for any inDesign pro, but that's.

    I'm creating a catalog for my company, its going to be 150-200 pages... or even more.  I got about 6 pages done before I realized how I have this set up isn't going to work. I have a master page for the left pages and one for the right pages (see image second image for my pages pane)

    My problem is, I need to insert a new page as page #2. When I do, it creates her "not cela" is part of my image for all subsequent pages.  Do all moving pages, but master pages too.   I need the content on the page to not pass the (master) page so that the blue tabs are always outside the catalog.

    Who is? How can I set this up?

    Untitled-3.png

    Untitled-2.png

    Variables work find for it. Just put the text for the variable in the margin, touch the bottom, lost on the first page where you want it to appear. It will follow all pages until another bit of text formatted for the chosen style is found.  In this way, you can have a master page that works for all sections.

    -in this example, the text at the top and the side of the in section is taken from the variable, and the text at the top of the page on the next release is, too.

  • Frame12 include master page or page reference objects in the HTML Help output?

    Hi, I'm looking for a copy of FrameMaker 12.

    While I can do a lot with the settings available in the dialog box publish, there still doesn't seem to be possible to include objects from Master Pages or reference Pages in CHM output?

    When you use TechCommSuite, I can work around this by applying "Master Pages" within RoboHelp (for example to add a standard footer to each theme and with a small logo of declaration and copyright society).

    It's not like there's a way to do it with the command post of Frame12? Or am I missing something?

    David,

    If you look in the outputs > General properties of the publication settings page, there is now an option to import the HTML template file. The option type of works in a way bass-ackwards, you click on the box first, then you get a window to select the file and then you must click on the button import.

  • Apply the Master Page by using the paragraph Style

    Hi all

    I am a beginner in the script. Learn the script through tutorials cs3 scripts.

    According to the paragraph style it automatically applies the master page.

    For example:

    Paragraph style = "CT".      To apply the Master Page = 'A-Master '.

    Paragraph style = "PT";       To apply the Master Page = "B-Master".

    These are the lines I'm working on:

    myDocument var = app.activeDocument;

    var myPStyles = myDocument.paragraphStyles.everyItem () .getElements ();

    myPage var = myDocument.pages.everyItem () .getElements ();

    for (i = 0; i < myPStyles.length; i ++)

    {

    If (myPStyles [i] .appliedParagraphStyle is "CT")

    {

    .appliedMaster myPStyles [i] = 'A-master. "

    }

    }

    Where I have error. Can someone help me solve this problem.

    Thanks in advance engineering...

    Try this one,

    var myDocument = app.activeDocument;
    var myParas = myDocument.stories.everyItem().paragraphs.everyItem().getElements();
    var myPage = myDocument.pages;
    for(i=0; i

    Good luck...
