maximum capacity of hard drive for XPS 400

Hello

If I'm not mistaken, maximum capacity of hard drive for XPS 400 was 2 x 320 GB. I can't remember where I got this information and I can't find it online either. Can anyone confirm this or correct if there is no such limit.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

  • Tecra S3 - 153 Maximum capacity of HARD drive replacement

I want to install a new HARD drive with a higher capacity, but I can't find any information on the maximum capacity of replacement of hard drives.

Does anyone know hwo to find that info or what would be the maximum capacity for TECRA S3-153 PTS30E-0TD03S?

    Hello

Tecra S3-153 supports the SATA controller.
As far as I know that the SATA controller is not limited, so, theoretically, you should be able to use HARD drive sizes 2.5 SATA; 250 GB and more

  • PowerEdge 1950 SAS 5 / i maximum capacity of hard drive?

    Hi guys,.

I am planning on getting an upgrade on one of our PowerEdge 1950 servers which has the SAS 5 / i controller.

Currently as 1 x 80 GB SATA II drive and 1 x 250 GB SATA II hard drive.

The upgrade, I'm eager to replace the 250 GB SATA II with a 2 TB SATA II drive so we can merge our cluster of stale data (Intel Celeron D 3, 06GHz) and our well-built used 1950 together to save power and room on our grid, while making access much faster data.

Because the Cluster consists of 1 x 1 TB Drive and 1 x 500 GB drive, it would be impractical to pop just readers to the 1950s as two disks approaching their capacity. They also get a bit now with the 1 TB drive with a warning sector re-appropriated in SMART County (we received as a replacement for factory refurbished for a new brand doesn't have a disk of 1 TB in December 09).

Are the questions I would ask: what is the maximum capacity hard drive SAS 5 / I controller can accept and: what is the combined total capacity of the hard drive?

Obviously with the latest firmware of the controller (hence the reason why I request in a new thread).

    Thanks for your answers,

    Chris

    If it is a disk 2 (3.5 ") 1950: 2x2TB storage = 4 TB of total disk; 0 = 4 can be used to RAID, RAID 1 = 2 TB usable.

    If it is a 4 drive (2.5 ") 1950: 4x1TB storage = 4 TB of total disk; RAID 0 = 4 TB usable, usable 10 RAID = 2 TB, RAID 5 = 3 TB usable 2xRAID 1 = 2x1To can be used.

I guarantee you that it refers to the total disk space of all disks included with the machine in the sale.

A single disc (not the total of all disks in RAID array) can not be greater than 2 TB on any of the controllers supported for a 1950 (SAS PERC 5/6, 5/6).

  • Satellite 2610 CDT: what is the maximum capacity of hard drive?

    Hello

I want to add a new hard drive to an old laptop Satellite 2610 CDT. However, before buying a new drive, I want to be sure that it will be properly recognized by the BIOS. The operating systems (Win 2000 and Debian) I will use can handle large capacity disks, so that they are not a problem here.

How can I determine the maximum capacity of the hard drive that will be recognized by the BIOS? The BIOS supports LBA-48 address?

    Thank you very much!

According to the specifications of the laptop computer supports a 6 GB HARD drive.
You can try with 10 or 12 GB of HARD drive.

These hard drives are cheap and I don't see any risk with the upgrade. Test it!

  • New hard drive for XPS 15 (L501X)

I need to replace my hard drive failed and did a little research for a new.

I currently have a Seagate ST9500420AS which has a height of 9.5 mm and I think about him replacing a portable Seagate SSHD (ST500LM000) with a height of 7 mm. It is suitable for my computer and it is compatible? This is my first time looking for a new hard drive, so any advice is welcome.

    Thanks for reading!

It must be installed.  You will have just a small gap at the top.  The holes should register where they need brackets etc.

  • Maximum supported size of HARD drive for HP Elitebook 8440p Windows 7 Pro 64 bit runing

Hello, I just bought a HP Elitebook 8440p "off lease" of Tigerdirect and seeks to upgrade the two memory (from 4 GB to 8 GB) and put in the eligible of the biggest HARD drive I can. Either a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB WD hybrid WD BLACK2 (1 TB HDD / 120 GB SSD Combo drive in a single package!). I would like to see more large disk addressable by using Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS since I don't seem able to find this info on the web. HP offers only only a 256 GB SSD in its specifications. but I didn't know if it was do limitations of BIOS or availability at the time of production, even for the HARD drive to 512 GB.

Also, I would like to know if 9.5 mm compliant Bay that it needs to be for the WD drive. Can't find that either, and while the new laptop has not yet happen, all measure exactly the same way regarding what works and what simply cannot be "cheated".

Thank you for taking the time to read this and NO information to that effect would be Greatl appreciated!

Essentially the reason why you do not have a maximum size of hard drive is because there is not everything. Between SATA and 64-bit OS', worrying about maximum size of hard drive is a thing of the past. Are the biggest readers found in the manual, as you suspected him, just a function of the market at the time of manufacture. It was a few years ago now, it is so understandable that the offerings were "at the time" more thin than now.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Page 4-9 shows the procedure of the Bay and the replacement of the hard disk. The Bay is made for a 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard but the new 7 mm readers also works. The black hybrid drive requires some software (included in the package) to treat the two drives in Windows and I read a modest amount of disappointment in the documentation about them. If you can afford the 512 GB SSD go in this direction and you will not be sorry. I use a Samsung 840 Evo and it has worked perfectly for me for almost 2 years and the most recent 850 I hear is even better.

    Hi A.P.ZG,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

Since you are facing a problem to install Windows XP on the new drive, it would be useful if you can answer this question to help you further.

You receive error codes or messages during the installation fails?

You can read the article and check if it helps to solve the problem.

    Hello

As far as I know this laptop supports the ATA-5 interface and, therefore, it should be possible to use the 120 GB IDE HARD drive as ATA - 5 supports the 28-bit LBA

But to be honest I didn t find details what size HARD drive max can be compatible

I seems that you would have to test

  • Replacement hard drive for Portege P2010 - part number required

Can someone tell me what is the part number for a replacement hard drive for Portege P2010 is? It has the latest version of the BIOS installed, if the capacity of the HARD disk can be greater than the original 30gig?

    Thank you

    Hello Martin

Unfortunately I was found no specific information. If I'm right, this unit needs 1.9 HDD and I think it can be much more expensive as 2.5 standard.

Check it please this page http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/Database_files/Toshiba_Portege_2000_and_2010_series_spares.htm
You will find a few pieces of upgrade for your device.

  • Adding 3rd hard drive for HP Pavilion Elite m9250f

I have a Pavilion Elite m9250f running Windows Vista Home 64 bit. The computer currently has two 500 GB hard drives for a total capacity of 1 TB. I would like to add a third drive to increase storage capacity.  I have a SATA to 2 to and cables. When I tried to install the new drive above the two existing disks, he did not slide smoothly. When I removed the already highest reader, I could slide the new drive into but the screws are not line up properly with the new drive. This leads me to believe that I can not install a third drive in the Bay. Is this a correct assumption?

I have an available expansion Bay below the optical drive but am not sure that it is usable for a hard drive. If the use of the expansion Bay is possible, do I have to buy a hook or how to mount the drive in this space?

If necessary, I can copy the data from the secondary drive on an external drive and replace it with the new drive. However, I need confirmation that the secondary is the player in the foreground of both in the hard disc enclosure.

    Thank you for your help.

If the task under the existing optical Bay is open, just use an adapter to fill the space and to mount the drive in there.  Make sure of course that there is a power cord and a SATA port.

  • Satellite A105-S4074 - which HARD drive for upgrade?

I want to replace the Toshiba MK1234GSX (120 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-150, 8 MB cache) hard drive on my A105-S4074 laptop with a bigger. My question is whether it is good to buy a Toshiba HDD no.

Available on direct to my computer Toshiba laptop is only the following HARD disk:
    HDDR320I02X
Toshiba 320 GB 2.5 "5400 RPM internal notebook hard drive - SATA"
    Capacity: 320 GB
    Interface: Serial ATA 150
    Speed: 5400 RPM
    Buffer size: 8 MB

I wonder if such a 320 GB or 500 GB WD HARD or Momentus drive will work very well, for example
-Western Digital 320 GB / 500 GB Scorpio blue SATAII 5400 RPM 2.5 IN. 8 MB in bulk / OEM hard drive (WD3200BEVT/WD5000BEVT
    -Seagate Momentus 5400.6 320/500 GB 5400 RPM / MIN SATA 3 GB/s 8 MB Cache 2.5 inch internal NB Hard Drive (ST9320325AS/ST9320325AS)

Also, is it wise purchase a 7200 RPM HARD drive for this laptop? Would this work?

    Thank you

    Hello

First on interface SATA there is no capacity limit. This means that you can buy each HARD drive with SATA interface and it should work fine.

It is also irrelevant if you buy a Toshiba, Western Digital, etc. There is not much difference between the models. It of your choice what you buy! ;)

Theoretically, 7200 RPM HARD drive should work but don t forget that they produce more heat and need more battery power. 5400 RPM should be sufficient for most applications.

  • Satellite L670-134 - maximum size of HARD drive compatible

    Hi all

I would like to install a new HARD drive and would like to know what size the 2.5 "HDD can be because there is enough of different sizes and in the past, I probably had a problem with a laptop from other manufacturers.

Anyone know the maximum values? for the width, depth and height of the hard drive for laptop?

In General, this info is not available. You can just hope that someone who has the same laptop model post own experiences with HARD drive upgrade.

  • new hard drive for laptop

I have a laptop dv7-3140el and HD samsung HM641JI 640GB 2.5 "SATA 5400 RPM (to replace car failure). To buy a new hard drive I have to take the same or I can take 7200 RPM instead of 5400? What technical specifications should I look for when buying a hard drive for computer laptop dv7-3140el? I wouldn't make a bad purchase!

    Sorry for my bad English

    Hello

Here are a few points to note when replacing your HARD drive:

You are not limited to any particular drive manufacturer.

The speed of rotation of the disc can be 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM

The new drive HARD should be at least the same capacity (or slightly more is okay) as the original drive - mounting a drive smaller than the original often causes risks with recovery media.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

750 GB hard drive for laptop.

If necessary, the procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 47 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

    Kind regards

  • Equium L20-197 - what is the maximum size of HARD drive

    Hi all

I recently bought an Equium L20-197 and I thought to install a larger HARD drive.
I wanted to know what the maximum size of HARD drive that can be installed on an Equium L20-197 (I guess it's 120 GB, as it is on the L20-187 but I'm not 100% sure)

I have also been seaching for the IDE drives and found a list of sites who have PATA, ATA100 etc. are also the IDE drives? (I checked the wiki and articles all point Yes, but a little more confirmation would not hurt)

I was also wondering if the HARD drive I install must be brand toshiba (or if it even makes a difference).

Thanking you in advance for any help you can provide.

    Hello

Equium L20 is very similar to the Satellite L20.
Search here in the forum for similar issues. If you want to use the advanced search option, you will find a few useful headings.

I know, it's that you can use the 40 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB and 100 GB 2.5 IDE HARD drive supporting the UDMA100
