Media Player 12 does not play Audio; Other players

I have Windows 7 Home and Media Player 12.  I also supplement players [Media Monkey among them].  When I try to play a video with audio in Media Player, I get my usual great video, but all I get is machine chatter on the audio track.  I watched the audio on NERO and it is there; I can play the audio and video in ONE of my other players and get sound and video.  Why Media Player will play the audio?  I've never had this problem before.

I don't know what else to watch to see what happens.

What you found is already good enough for a search engine, I tried: 'windows media player' audio MPG (on a single line) and there are various visits, including 316992 KB http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/316992 at this point, I'm lost, allegedly WMP12 can handle MP2 (the predecessor of MP3 used with MPEG2), and of course, he could also handle audio gross (as WAV) If that's what you have.

My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video. When you try to play the video (usually an avi file) I get audio and visualization. I tried to uninstall and install new, but does not. I chose also to all types of files media player by default but video still does not play.

An avi file is simply a container that may have different types of files in it for video and audio.

You probably don't have the correct Codec to play the video.

Either download a codec pack such as K-lite or download a little program called G-spot, open it and drag your avi file in the center of the small window of G-spot.

It will then tell you what Codec uses the avi file. You can then Google that particulat Codec, download and install it.

  • Windows Media Player-DVD does not play

    Media Player Vista

Vista media playerdoes not read DVDs.  music CD plays ok. a film recorded on cd format plays better than a dvd.

    Hello bsstanfield619,

    ·        Have you an error when you try to play DVD on Media Player?

    ·        This happens with all DVDs you play or any particular format of DVD?

    ·        Have you checked if the DVD work on another computer?

    ·        What is the extension of the files you are trying to play from the DVD?

You might not have the required codecs to play the DVD on your computer. It would depend on new type of file that you are trying to play from the DVD.

Read the article that will give you information about Codecs and decoders that you need to upgrade to below:

Windows Media Player is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled. "As far as I can tell there no way to uninstall Media Player and reinstall it? Can someone help me with this?

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes before the show?

Step 1: This happens usually if you install a hotfix or an update that updates wmp.dll. To resolve this issue, follow these steps.
    1. reboot your system.
    2. open cmd.exe as an administrator by selecting Start Programs/Accessories.
Right-click on command prompt and choose Run as administrator.
    3. type: unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMPVersion and press ENTER.

For more information, see this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961047

Step 2: If the problem persists, run SFC (System File Checker) tool to analyze and fix the incorrect system versions files.
    1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
    2. type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • Windows Media Player 12 will not play or burn music CDs!

Running Windows 7 Home Premium-Windows Media Player will play a DVD but will not play an audio CD, which begs the question: why it does not burn the CD using Roxio Burn (which just sits there doing nothing) just like WMP 12.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and suggestions in this forum, but nothing is done.  Microsoft has really any solution of constantly failing to player?  In addition, reinstalled my computer back to the State factory and Media Player STILL will NOT play or burn music CD.  Hello, Microsoft, I would rather download Media Player 11, which at least has worked, so tell me how to get that back.  Thank you.

    Are normally given CD detected?
If not, the problem is probably with the drive itself - CD and DVD is access differently if we wouldn't necessarily affect each other.

There are three things you can do.

    * Stick with WMP11, re - download the file and re-install on top of himself. Who can fix whatever your problem.

Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > WMP11 and you'll be with WMP10-findyourself.

  • When I copy a CD in Windows Media Player 11 does not apply media information.

With the XP sp3 operating system, I rip the CD purchased and Windows Media Player 11 does not apply media information. Either he gives and error saying that it cannot be done because I am not connected to the internet while I'm connected, or it can recognize my internet connection, but I have to do a manual search and manually apply the name of each track, even if they are present and order under each line I have to click to match the name of the correct track.

It's so frustrating to have to fight manually for applied information on the media which is clearly presented, and after all, album art that shows correctly in the finder info media constantly refuses to fill in the library and I have to go to a separate Web site and copy and paste it in. Yes, he found elsewhere on the internet, with the help of the connection which was present all along!

It's crazy, the info is already there! And why do I go online in any case the info is in the CD? This doesn't seem to be a problem with the previous players. Please provide a fix for this useless, frustrating dinosaur, waste of time, a process!

Have you tried to delete temporary Internet files and the Cookies in Internet Explorer?

If you temporarily disable your firewall software, which helps? This could be a third-party firewall, like Symantec, or the built-in Windows Firewall.

My windows media player 11 does not work properly

whenever I go to open a video with it, it appears on the taskbar, you can here the sound, but the player himself does not appear on the destop

I tried to reinstall the drive, and I get the same thing.

If I go to roll back the player, add remove programs say it has been restored, but the media runtime in Add Remove programs won't disappear because it says that windows media player 11 is always there.

    Help

    Hello rockys_rod,

To fix it, simply remove your old library files. Then have Windows Media Player find your new files. It will not destroy your music files.

How to get WMP to re - index your music:

    1. close Microsoft Media Player.
    2. click on Start and then run
    3. in the box, type the following:
    [list] %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

    4. click on OK and a folder containing your library files will be displayed
    5. delete all files ending with .wmdb
    6. open Microsoft Media Player
    7. press F3
    8. Select the addresses of your music files
9 WMP will re-index your music.

If this does not help, try the FixIt in the article below:

  • Windows Media Player 11 will not play video

Windows Media Player 11 will not play DVD-video or video files from a SD card.  I tried several update codec options, but none were successful, including the option offered by Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx?displang=en).  Windows tells me that a more recent update has been installed and refuses to go forward.

    Hi RonMcCulloch,

    ·         You receive an error message or error code?

    ·         What is the type of file you are trying to play?

    ·         The DVD I get recognized by the computer?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

In the meantime, you can try to reduce hardware acceleration, and see if it resolves the problem. (Only if your video card supports hardware acceleration)

    a. open the screen resolution by clicking on the Start button, click Control Panel, and then under appearance and personalization, click adjust screen resolution.

    b. click on settings Advanced , the Troubleshooting tab and then click change settings.

    c. move the hardware acceleration slider toward none to reduce or turn off video hardware acceleration.
