merge catalogs?

Is it possible to merge LR catalogs? I have various catalogues and I think it would be easier to have a little. Thank you.

File > import from another catalog.

And Yes, things are easier if you do not needlessly fragment to control your images through a number of catalogs.

    Hi all

My wife and I have our LR catalog on an external hard drive that we share between our macbooks, which means that we can edit the same catalog are on our separate macbooks, but not at the same time of course.

This system (which after a lot of very useful tips on this forum, have opted for) works well, but sometimes, we want to work on sets of different images that currently exist in the same catalog at the same time.

I know that LR is not very good in the kind of thing, but I understand that it might be possible.

To be clear, the idea (I think!) is as follows:

Suppose there is a set of unpublished photos (let's call him "India", a trip to India) I want to change it on my macbook, while my wife edits some of our other photos on his computer.

I could take pictures of the India of our main stock on the external hard drive and put them on my drive internal quite easily. And I suppose I could edit in a new catalog on my internal drive. But can I then when they are done, not only return the photos of our stock of master on the external hard drive, but also to merge the catalog in which the changes are saved with our catalog of maser?

Cann - it possible? Is this the way forward? And I have a feeling there is a book out there on the arcane issues of splitting and catalogs that merge (most important), but I don't remember what it's called or who has by - if anyone knows what I'm talking about, please let me know.

Thank you very much in advance

    All best

    David

    Hi Dtbain,

I think you want to work on a separate set of images on a catalog different and once done, you want to merge the master catalog.

You can create a new catalog and import the images you want to change separately.

Once this is done, please follow the instructions below to merge the master catalog catalog.

    1 > open catalog Master

2 > click on file > import from another catalog

3 > navigate to the new catalog created earlier and then click Choose.

4 > it will provide you with a new dialog box with a few more options for the images in the new catalogue.

Please follow the link below to understand better options.

  • If I merge two catalogs that overlap, how can I keep all the data?

Somewhere in the LR update process in two or three months, I did inadvertently and unknowingly create a second identical catalog. No problem, really, except that I have somehow added to and then edited into two catalogues. This week realized my mistake. I don't know how to return to a single catalog. Each catalog has now has hundreds of unique files and publishes, in addition to the 50 k + files that existed before my error. I need all files and changes; If I merge the two catalogs, I keep all the data? I was about to try an approach of the worksheet using ListView of John Beardsworth plugin, exported to a spreadsheet and calculate unique values, but it is perhaps a bigger than the fusion learning curve, especially if I can keep all changes. I looked at the fusion of information on the pages of LR, but I think I need more information about what the merger is doing with all the data. I want to be sure before proceeding. Similar experiences?

    Hello

The merger would not affect the collections. All collections should be there in this merged catalog.

In order to filter images that have different metadata (it comes to virtual copies):

    1. Select the folder under which you want to search for virtual copies, or you can select all the photos under catalog Panel.

    2. click on menu Photo > stacking > expand all stacks

    3. click on menu library > filter by genre > virtual Copies

Thank you very much for your answer.  I don't expect really something like your very comprehensive and understandable solution.  It is clear that you spent a lot of time to type the answer.

  • How to connect LR cat merged?

Before moving to the new computer LR5, I backed up my photos on an external HD and LR called Mergedcatalog.

What are you connect LR5 merged catalog?

    Thank you

    Joe

I perhaps saved unnecessarily because I kept all the catalogs/images on the HD position when I was using the old computer. The merged catalog is perhaps unnecessary. I have linked and see all my photos.

Thanks for putting me on the right track.

  • Why the LR5 catalog is better than PES 12 organizing?

    Jim

I started using a trial version of the LR5.

I've been a regular user of the different versions of the EP over the years.

In general, I was pleased by the Organizer, & have various tags nested in each other.

I've never had a problem with it being unstable, and can usually find what I'm looking for.

(provided that I have correctly tagged it in the first place :-))

My first impression of the LR5 catalog is that it is not as intuitive.

I searched online for how to install the catalog & most of the discussion relates to catalogues how to have. -J' have already made that decision - just one:

So?  What are the features I am missing in the LR5 catalog that make it better than the elements Organizer?

    What do you think?

I am also a happy user of the Organizer, but I also use LR 4.4.

What I find interesting in LR:

-huge amount of customization possible and options (if you need it...)

-Ability to handle JPEG files as well as the raws (the Organizer doesn't let you open JPEGs in acr,)

-Smart ways to manage variants without copying files (virtual copies)

    -The most advanced metadata management

    -possibility to merge catalogs

-Much more supported by Adobe and user forums

-Advanced options in the output in the latest versions

What can be the subject of a debate, it's the difficulty of the learning curve, as well as the "robustness" of the software. The organizer has riddled many bugs (there were already several years before LR). The problem is that after having much more options makes more complex LR. For example, the database has three times the number of tables. It follows that LR forums are full of complaints about bugs or missing features... just because it's too rich and trying to satisfy the needs of each.

Several cases of problems with the Organizer are related to the function of backup that backs up the images and catalogs. Catalogues only backup LR. Backup of images is your responsibility. If you have problems, it isn't for lack of LR, it's yours.

I can't find a post I made to show the possible benefits of the Organizer, but it was just for fun.

  • Apply settings from LR 5.7 to 6.4 development?

Hi everyone, please excuse newbie asking what may be a perfectly simple question, but there are a few things that I don't really understand...

What I want to do is to transfer the development parameters for some raw files from a computer that is running LR 5,7 to another computer running LR 6.4, to save me re - working the raw on the second computer files. Also, there are a number of things that I don't get - 6.4 LR (xmp) sidecar files, but installation of 5.7 LR isn't. So where are the development parameters stored?

Here are the details: I was on holiday in Iceland and I took a laptop computer to the backup process photos and perhaps, while I was there. So I have a few pictures that were processed on the laptop using 5.7 LR and I do not know where develop them settings are stored - no xmp file. A further complication: LR 5.7 couldn't use my raw (ORF) files and would not have to update to the latest Camera Raw (which I have on the desktop with LR 6.4), so I had to convert plans to DNG before treatment on the laptop.

Now I'm at home, I copied the original raw (ORF) files to my desktop, which is running LR 6.4. I want to apply the same settings to the shots that I already treated on the laptop (DNG), rather than start again development...

Everything received with gratitude and once again excuse my ignorance.

Delete the pictures of Iceland from the LR 6 catalog, but not the hard drive.

Transfer the catalogue LR 5.7 and associated photos (ORF and DNG) to the other computer, and then open LR 6 and then file-> import from another catalog and points to the Lightroom 5.7 catalog. This will merge the catalog and keeps the LR 5.7 changes, so you can see them in LR 6. You will need to add a link to photos of the Iceland in LR 6 by following these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

When you do so, the ice01 to ice70 DNG will have changes in the merged catalog LR 6.

  • Combining catalogues and folders

    Hi all

I have two folders of photos on an external drive and two catalogues on the hard drive of the computer. I want to combine the photos in a folder and to combine two catalogs in a large catalog. I think I know how to deal with merging catalogs. Is to combine the pictures on the external hard drive just a proposal of drag-and-drop? Also should I combine the photos first, then catalogs or vice a versa?

    Thank you.

It doesn't matter what you are doing first. Drag / move photos from one folder to another must work to combine files.

Do not start this operation until you have made backups of your catalog files and all your photos.

  • Transfer Photos from mobile to PC Organizer Organizer?

I have 13 items on my laptop and my PC. I did some organizing photos on the laptop in the organizing elements. When I copy these files in the laptop to the computer and import them into the organizer information (notes, labels and captions) are missing. Is it possible to copy this info with the files when you import in the Organizer? I tried to import the CR2 and JPEG files & information is missing both.

Thank you, Jon. I didn't know I could do this when I already have a catalog. Is it possible to merge the catalog of my vacation (on my laptop) photos in my general catalogue on my PC?

You can't easily merge catalogs in thehttp://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Merging_Catalogs Organizer

To simplify the steps above, use first the ' file/write to files metadata' to write your keywords, captions, notes and ratings to your files in the catalog of holiday.

Then, import the new photos in the catalogue. It's easy if the new photos are in specific folders.

  • Pre-defined reports to track use

    Hello

I have followed in my RPD to use, but it seems to me to miss the follow-up reports in predefined usage answers. I followed doc:

    http://www.Oracle.com/WebFolder/technetwork/tutorials/OBE/FMW/bi/BIEE/r1013/usage_tracking/usage_tracking.htm

I use version 10.1.3.4 OBIEE, can anyone tell why this component is missing in the responses.

p.s. I have merged the RPD with master Dr. follow-up by copying records physical/bmm/presentation of RPD follow-up to the master instead merger of the use of the use.

    sliderrules wrote:
Okay, I think that I have not merged catalog. Copying took place between the rpds and there are no errors, I can see the sector of activity and tables in the answers.

I am referring to doc http://obiee101.blogspot.co.uk/2008/08/obiee-setting-up-usage-tracking.html

There is a section below that describes the content which should be copied from the catalog to track usage of master catalog to track usage. I unzipped and saved a copy of the usage_tracking.rpd but I am unable to open the file in offline mode, as described in the exampkle. Navigate to the location of the RPD, but impossible to open?

Given that RPD work is completed, you will now need to just merge the catalogs, and John explained clearly in the link that you are referring to:

In short, the steps are basic:

    (1) excerpt from the catalogue.
    (2) open the catalog offline.
    (3) to open another instance of the Catalog Manager where you open your current catalog online.
    (4) copy - paste the content.

  • Help! Merge changes in a single catalog LR in a former a folder of images for...

Hey friends! We you handle a difficult series of photos and moved everything to an external hard drive. Without thinking, I opened and made changes to a picture folder on our main computer and then later on changes in another folder of images in the catalog of external hard drive file.

I would like to merge everything into one place without losing any changes for our two separate records of more recent images. Is there an easy way to do this?

    Thank you!

On the external drive, open the LR catalog, select the folder of interest, right-click on the file and choose export this folder as a catalogue...

On the internal disk, open the Lightroom Catalog, select file-> import from another catalog and select the catalog that you created from the external drive.

  • Small catalog in master catalog merge

I have what is probably a common situation, so hopefully someone here can help me out.  I have LR on 2 computers Win10.  One is bigger with a lot of storage space (SSD and hd) and usually rest at home.  The other is a small ultrabook I use when away from home (sometimes for weeks or even months).  For 16 years, I have had all my off-camera photo original files in a folder that contains monthly subfolders that look like this:

    p-2000-01

    p-2000-02

    .

    .

    .

    p 2016-07

    p 2016-08

Currently, I have almost 100 photos of k in these files.  I have only these off-camera photo original files in my LR catalog.  My biggest home computer has all these on a hard drive internal, but my little ultrabook has no where close to enough space.  The ultrabook I just the more recent months. For example:

    p 2016-05

    p 2016-06

    p 2016-07

    p 2016-08

Here's my question.  Can I create a small catalog on my ultrabook that only has photos on it and then merge them into the great, master catalog on the computer at home later?  I think the answer is Yes, but here are some possible pitfalls that I am very clear on:

1 suppose I have perform the merge for the catalogue of the computer at home and then more later to add more photos and monthly records in the ultrabook and import them into the small catalog.  The small catalog now has photos that had already been merged into the great, master and new catalogue photos that are only in the small catalog.  That I can then combine this new version of the small catalog with the master catalog and there will be no problems because some of these pictures in the small catalog had previously been merged into the master catalog?

    2. now more than some of the old pictures in the small catalog that had previously been merged into the master catalog had subsequently changes made on the ultrabook (edition, number of stars, etc.).  When I do the next merger of this small catalogue to the master who already has these pictures in there will be changes made since the last merge also be deferred?

  • Can I re - merge a catalog of smart with their original dng previews in a different catalog?

    I can do this wrong...

I exported a catalog of the only intelligent seen at work with my MBP. It is as simple as the import of this new catalogue back in my master catalog where the original dng files, or is there some other tricks, I have to do? If I import the smart preview catalog, it will create duplicates or it will merge previews with their corresponding originals.

Looks like I answered my own question. It is possible to simply update the previews and parameters for the main catalogue of development.

I created a test catalog of a few chose my preview catalog smart and then imported this catalogue in my master catalog. The dialog box gives me the opportunity to not import the original files and update the previews, metadata and develop settings only.

So all is good. Thanks for all the weight.

  • Internal errors and missing files after the merger of catalogs

    Hello

I was merging two catalogs Lightroom CC on OSX 10.10.5 more often with success, however, a single folder is totally inaccessible after the merger and tries to update the location of the folder or re - import photos gives rise to the error codes internal.

If someone could help me restore references in the catalogue that would be much appreciated.

Please see the attached screenshots trying to update the location of the folder:

  • I have two computers using lightroom, how to treat two catalogs if I tried to merge

I have a desktop and a laptop, they each have a different set of hard drives and so different catalogs how to catalogue the laptop (with its attendant images) and merge them into the catalog to the desktop? Or is it easier to have two catalogs separated on the desktop?

    Hi Roger,

You can merge the two catalogs and store the main catalog on an external hard drive so that you can access the same on both the machine.

You can consult this article to merge the catalogs:
