Message "files were imported not because they could not be read" when importing from an SD card

I use CC/creation of Lightroom clouds for several months now and no problems. All of a sudden I get a message saying that the file I am trying to import my SD card could not be read, so I'm unable to import new photos in my catalog. I was importing images using the same SD card and the camera without any problems in the past. I use Mac OS X El Capitan. Any ideas? Thank you.

The most common cause of this error is a lack of privs to WRITING on the destination folder. Using the Finder, make sure that you have READ and WRITE privs on your destination folder tree.

  • Swf/html file downloaded will not play video when downloaded from the web

I received an FLV file in InDesign (CS5). Then I need to export it as a SWF file and download on our Web site.

When I export as SWF and test it on my desk, the video works fine, but when I download on my site (the file SWF, HTML file and the _Resources folder that was created when exporting), I can't get the html code (or the SWF version) to show the video.

The initial poster shows but when I click it, it becomes white. When I mouse over I see controls I've specified through skins (the button "play", etc.) so I know it's there - but the bar which usually indicates in the video you're just has this green color thread through it.

    Hi lindaw,.

Looks like that the destination location is not set correctly.

Make sure the destination in the import window location is set correctly and has full read and write permissions.

  • The following files were not imported because they could not be read

My brand new Macbook Pro and CC membership doesn't let me import the photos. I get the message "the following files are not imported because they could not be read." I think that this can only happen with jpg. All the patches?

This is a permissions problem. In the import window, select another Destination folder and make sure that your username has write permissions for the folder that you select...

  • RAW of Nikon D7000 import fail - error: the following files were not imported because they could not be read.

    I'm on a Mac under OS X 10.11.

I connect the camera via USB, open Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC (2015 2.1 - Camera Raw 9.2), click on the button import and display all the. NEF files on the camera.  I check 'in the subfolder"and it by default selects 'by date' with 'Format for a Date' 2015/10 which I accept.  I then select the collection that I want to add to, define rule change in file name and click on the import button blue with all the selected photos.

Import does not work and I get the error: the following files were not imported because they could not be read.

I read in the forums and many people claim that this is due to a problem with file permissions.  The is not the case here.  I am logged in as myself, running Lightroom like myself (the process of Lightroom is held by me) and my entire repertoire belongs to me, including the "2015/10" record he would write in.  In addition, I can manually enter this directory and manually create and delete files and folders with no problems.

So the foregoing proves no problem licensing insofar as the operating system and the file system is concerned, and also proves that this is a specific problem with Lightroom.  Why is it not work?  I pay several hundred dollars a year for a subscription of CC; I need this job.

The error was due to permissions of file after all.  When you import media, must be very carefully considered defects of menu import gear - if you "subfolder" selected, look at the setting for "Destination Folder" - in my case, it was set to ""/ "."  This is the root directory, so it's obvious standard user level permissions won't allow files to be written here, or I wanted to have whatever it is put into memory.  It was particularly easy to miss because it's only a simple slash.  Once I set the destination folder to a location in my directory, import worked well.

  • Lightroom 4.2.  Cannot import. message files were not imported because they cannot be read

    Crisis of Lightroom:

suddenly, impossible to import images into lightroom - a window comes up that says '"suite of files not were not imported because they cannot be played'. I was trying to import images - 10 images were imported from the shoot, then import stopped.

I tested the card and card readers using cards of different cameras and using different card readers. I managed to import the images into a folder on my desktop, so know nothing is corrupted... Memory cards are good, my card readers are good. no settings not changed in my camera. Nothing has changed in my routine. Have been using lightroom for several years.

I import via a card reader, convert to DNG and save on an external hard drive. All very ordinary.

No, I contacted has had or knows someone who has had this problem.

Impossible to get in touch with anyone at Adobe.

On a quick reading, it looks like the same question that me was dead in the water for 7 days. (LR 4.2)  I tried everything - my card readers are good, memory cards are not damaged, tried different cards of different cameras, etc. Working my way through all of my tech savvy friends and professional, I've been lucky to connect with a person of great sister tech at Adobe.  After all the possibilities of lightroom (3 hours on the phone) in case of problem, we checked my external hard drive where all the images are stored.  Though even the external hard drive had plenty of space and "told" that he was in good health and works well, Adobe got go in properties/tools of the external hard drive and do a 'error checking.  12 hours later after the program has the file to a disk at the same time, he finds errors, moved to a separate folder, and now everything works OK.  Hard drive not to was not crushed or if all images have been lost.  As can happen after a while there was a scratch or similar which prevents more images being write (or read) on the disk.  Even if everything works OK at the moment, I'll replace it my external hard drive (and it's backup external drive) .just cases are more 'bumps' on the external hard drive.

My technical knowledge is limited and I'm not intuitive that anything digital, so can't add more information then the experience I had.

  • The following could not be imported because they could not be read

    Hi all

I have been using lightroom 5.7.1 for a month now with no problems until today.  I tried to import photos and it keeps "the following could not be imported because they could not be read."  I haven't changed anything with my camera or a computer, I tried to put the photos on my computer and a card reader.  I can view the photos outside of Lightroom, so I know that they are not damaged.  Exteremly frustrated right now, any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

    Paul

This message means that you don't have WRITE permission on the destination folder.

Thus, in the dialog box import to Lightroom, take note of this folder is selected under 'Destination' on the right. Then in your operating system, go to this exact folder and change permissions of WRITING.

Thanks for the file. I was able to import without problem. This means that the file is not the source of the problem, but not Lightroom itself. There is something to do on your side that preventing things from work.

Generally, when things work at first and then suddenly stop working, the problem is with the files preference. These tell Lightroom how to behave and if something goes wrong with them, he tells the program to behave in a way that causes errors.

We want to recreate the preferences file. Just delete, rename, or move the file so that Lightroom is closed and then reopen. Launch Lightroom attempts to read this file for instructions, if it does not there a new is created with all the default settings.

This is where the file is stored:

I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now have to import some RAF of the HD files but LR shows them as dazed out and said that they have already been imported when I hover over the thumbnail. I have this problem when importing files in the same HD Canon CR2, and who have been treated exactly the same. Anyone got a clue as to why this is happening? Thanks, Phil

    Hi Phil,

If Lightroom then reads these as duplicate files, it shows that they are already present in your Lightroom Catalog.

You can search by file name and check if the image is present in your library.

I have DC Acrobat and run it on Windows 7.  I have a Brother printer.  I downloaded the new drivers last night, but the same problem occurs: when I try to print, I get a message in a dialog box, "the cocument could is allowed.  When I click on out of the box with this message, I get a different dialog box including the message says "it has not chosen to print pages".  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

The way I got it to print has been:

Without opening the program, in the list of applications, move on to Adobe Reader and right click, select Properties.

Go to the compatibility and click 'run as Admin '.  Reopen the application and all prints for me now.

  • Cannot be imported from an sd card

    Hello

for some reason any, that I'm unable to import photos from my SD card, it fails with the message:

    "Some import operations were performed.

"The following files were imported not because they could not be read.

    It's Lightroom 6.3

Windows family 10 on a laptop.

I * can * import the same card on another laptop computer running the same version of Lightroom and we tried two readers of cards on this laptop, without success.

I also tried to import a photo of a map which * a * has worked in the past and it also now fails, so my suspicion is that the problem is with the software.

Can someone at Adobe please notify or connect my machine to help?

    Hi Ainm,

The error you are getting is due to permission to read and write access to the destination folder.

I suggest to change the destination folder or give read and write access to the folder where you want to import the images.
