Microsoft Update, error: Visual C++ pack 1 redistributable (KB973923) service

Hello

Unfortunately, I can not install this update. I tried to fix the problem with:
http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistawu/thread/89879c8d-a63e-436a-9FD5-6183e39d1ff4/
But the log file is not created.
No errors in the detected sfc/scannow.
Another error I get repeatable (can be linked) is from the SetPoint from Logitech software. installation of "side-by-side" was incorrect (or similar). Any ideas?

Thank you very much in advance, Rob.

When I already formatted my computer, I went through exactly the same process and never experinenced a problem before. Help, please.

First of all, I went to the Microsoft Download Center and download a Windows XP SP3 ISO.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?ID=25129

I then installed DAEMON Tools and mounted the ISO and ran the Update Service Pack 3 from Microsoft.

I then rebooted my machine and re-visited the Windows Update page and this time it worked and downloaded and installed the updates.

This information could help other users who have experinced the same problem.
