Migrating from Test to the new server - OBIEE

Hello

I was "assessment" OBIEE perfect on a test server small for awhile where I did considerable work on the two reports of the writing. development of dashboards, user security configuration and architecture of data needed in the physical layers / business model and presentations in administration of BI.

My question is, what is the best way to transfer the solution in its current form to another server, without having to make extensive rework?

Thanks for any advice,

Robert.

Lowest level: copy of the catalogue of the RPD and web on the other server, set the NQSConfig.ini and instanceconfig.xml and off you go.

That's assuming you don't have change web messages, add custom images or files, change the styles or skins, you're still pointing to the same data sources etc. etc.

You should take a look at one of the brands of earlier descriptions: http://www.rittmanmead.com/2008/04/28/migration-obiee-projects-between-dev-and-prod-environments/

  • Migration of VCenter 4.0 to 4.1 on the new server - database upgrade problem

    Hello

    I am trying to migrate from a 32-bit W2K3 vCenter Server 4.0 to 4.1 running on a new server W2K8 R2.

The servers have different hostnames and IP addresses.

The datamigration tool ran on the existing server and registered the relevant question of config. I run it on the new server, and he acknowledges that there is data on migration and launch the installation program. This will go through the first steps and connects successfully to the db SQL 2005 (which is on a separate machine) via the DSN. Then, it generates an error:

"vCenter server does not support the upgrade of database version 2.5u5 or below." Please upgrade the database to a supported version and try again".

Thus, the vCenter database is in an old 'format '?

    How can I update manually?

    Thank you very much

    Welcome to the community.

VCenter 4.0 DB is different from 2.5, for its strange.

Check the DSN configuration if you point to the correct DB.

  • Migrate to the new server vCenter hw

I make plans to migrate all my my old hardware of server vCenter ESX hosts to a new (and much faster). Both vCenter servers are version 4. To delete a my old vCenter ESX host, I need to put it in maintenance mode. Maintenance mode means turn it off or by moving my VMs to other hosts.

Is there a way to move my ESX hosts to the new server vCenter without voltage VM?

    Hi bjornl,

If you need to keep the virtual machines running on the host computers, while removing a cluster host, data center or same vCenter, and then select the option 'Disconnect' first. The host shows as grayed out and disconnected. Once in this state you can 'remove' the host of your first vCenter.

Create your new data center and then "Add host" Cluster in the new. Everything will be powered on your virtual machines.

The only issues I've had with this is if the original or the new cluster using vMotion improve compatibility (EVC). This aspect must correspond to both ends. Once you do this, it works fine.

    Hope this helps,

  • Apex 4.0 to 4.1 on the new server migration translated application problem

    Hello

I have a translated application works well on an apex 4.0 Server and want to upgrade to 4.1 using a new server.

I did what I do normally, export schema and application, and then import the schema and the applications on the new server.

This does not work for the main application, but it does not work for the translated application.

If I run the application right after having established import, changes to the login pages between two languages that I use, but when you try to connect with the second language, it gives me the following error (112 is the main language and 113 is the translated application)
    Error     Error processing authentication.
ORA-06550: line 2, column 37: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol ".113" when expecting one of the following: ( ; is with authid as cluster order using external deterministic parallel_enable pipelined The symbol ".113" was ignored.
If I have "seeds" and then "publish" the application in the menu of globalisation so the second language does not work at all (it continues to display the main language in the selection of the translated application).

I went through a lot of threads and it seems to a problem with the translated applications.

Is there a valid way to make the translated application work for this migration?

    Teo

    Hello Teo,

export your 4.0 system XLIFF file development. Also, make sure you import your application with the same application id in the 4.1, otherwise all the internal IDS will move.

  • Upgrade virtual Center 2.02 VC 2.5 on the new server. Upgrade ESX 3.02 ESX Server 3.5. and add the new ESX Server.

    Hello

We are due to upgrade our VMWare environment. ESX 3.02 x servers virtual Center 2.02 and 3.  We have new material on which to install Virtual Center and we are also adding a new ESX Server.

I read various guides for virtual center upgrade and watched questions on the forum, but can not see everything that relates to the way I thought to do. I want to install Virtual Center 2.5 on the new server and I would refer her to the current virtual cenre database.  Is this supported?

I then install ESX 3.5 on my new ESX Server and add it to the virtual Center. Then I would start the upgrade / rebuild other servers using VMotion to migrate all VM the next server to be rebuilt on the new server running ESX 3.5.

    Would this work.

What is the best way to upgrade the virtual center of new material and a new Version?

Thank you for all the advice that can be offered.

    Kind regards.

Yes, it is an upgrade that is supported.  Don't forget there will be an upgrade for your DB schema and it may take some time.  Just make sure that you have a good backup of your DB before you start.

I then install ESX 3.5 on my new ESX Server and add it to the virtual Center. Then I would start the upgrade / rebuild other servers using VMotion to migrate all VM the next server to be rebuilt on the new server running ESX 3.5.

I agree entirely, I drive rebuild is the way to go.

Upgrade to the current version using the .iso image file.  Don't forget the license server, which is a standalone update and are located in the folder /vpx of the vCenter .iso

    Upgrade path:

    1 vCenter

    2 ESX

    3 VMware Guest Tools

Thank you for all the advice that can be offered.

I hope that was a little helpful as well

  • Import the new server

    Hi all
I just want to know that.

I took an export to a server. On this server all of the SQL and PL/SQL very good running.
Now I'm importing that pours on the new server with the same configuration as the previous.
But all of the SQL and PL/SQL do not work well on this server. It takes time to run.

    What I need to check.
Does need a statistical database or something else to check?

  • ESXi on the new server? -newbie question

I intend to replace an old server with a new Dell 2950, and when I look at the version virtualized against the standard version there is a significant price difference that ESXi is free, can anyone tell me if I should really buy a ready virtualization server or just a standard and install the ESXi myself?

I have used VMware in the past and the desire to try on the new server, I hope replace 7 PC with 1 high-end virtualized server.

    Hope someone can advise.

    Thank you

    Gordon

    Hi Gordon,.

Personally I buy the server and install ESX (not ESXi) inside. It's just my typical setup. The reason why I prefer currently ESX on 'i' is that ESXi is not a service console and some 3rd party applications will not work because they require a SC.

Although ESXi is 'free' as a stand-alone product, you have to pay for a license one you put in a cluster of virtual center.

I prefer the standard ESX just like I know 3rd party apps ESX will work.

  • Flash on the new server to break

    Hi all

We have this series of Flash files, created by an external developer, passing a series of variables using FlashVars, so it can load these external elements such as images and text, and a configuration file.

Currently, everything works fine. But we are upgrading servers and when we move all of these Flash files on the new server, his break.

What is happening is that the Flash will begin its charge process, and when he arrives to load the configuration file, which is one of the external files, it can't seem to find it. Even if the folder structure has not changed, and all files are present and represent.

At this point, the only thing I can think of that might be a problem that is using its FlashVars to pass a query string HTTP and maybe something isn't quite exactly the same thing. Other than that, I don't know.

If anyone has any advice or answers, I would greatly appreciate help.

    Thanks again
    Chris

In fact, the problem we found was not to do with the Flash at all. The swf file were loading text with the extension .cfg files. So when these cfg files have been moved to the new server, they are not recognized. We thought it was something with the server security.

So as the cfg files were nothing else than text files, and have been treated as such by the Flash, we changed all the .cfg files .txt files, and everything seemed to work.

  • Create the backup of the database on the new server to RMAN

I have a 1 - existing node RAC running 10gr 2 on Windows 2003. I am trying to create a backup of database on a new server running Windows 2008 and Oracle 10 g 2. Because the database uses ASM, I can't just copy data files. I did a full backup with RMAN and copy these files to the new server. I installed Oracle, but no database. I have put in place on the new box ASM.

Can someone tell me how to use the RMAN backup to set up a backup of database on the new server? The production server is still in place and running, but we are trying to get a server backup and procedures for the use of a filler RMAN restore in the case of a scenario of recovery after disaster.

PS. We use Standard edition, so Dataguard is out of the question. It would be nice, but the price is a little high.

    1 instance startup NOMOUNT.
2 restore automatic backup SPFILE (assuming you have AUTOBACKUP CONTROLFILE set up on the main site)
3 startup NOMOUNT with restored SPFILE
    4 restore automatic backup controlfile.
    5 MOUNT DATABASE
6 catalogue copied backup files (CATALOGUE START WITH...)
    7 RESTORE THE DATABASE
    8 RETRIEVE THE DATABASE
    9 OPEN RESETLOGS

  • Switch the database 10g from Windows to Linux (new server)

    Hi people,

I'm still new here and I'm working on a project. I'm trying to move a database 10 g of Windows on a new server with Linux 5. Please what are the steps I need to take?

    * The present Server (Windows 7) is in noarchivelog mode
    * There is practically no link between this 2 servers
    * This is a development environment, and so I have a lot of time to experiment.

    Thank you!

    Hello
DataPump (expdp/impdp) is the way to go. expdp create a 'logic' of the database dump - create some think it's just a series of statements and insert statements written in a file. This file is generic and can be used on any platform. If your shipping it a long way (not sure how far Virginia is you another site) you can zip it before sending it. At the other end you just need to create a database of "shell" - that is a very basic database which you are then going to create all objects (maybe version different oracle - with some restrictions). Then use impdp to transfer the file and create everything.

  • Moved from AAS db to new server... What the configuration utility options do

Had to move AAS db to a new server (with another associated Hyperion dbs)

According to Oracle, I need to run the Configuration utility after the move on the Essbase db server.

When I run the Configuration utility, I gives me a lot of choices. I checked the installation guide and in vain on the details of what to run.

So if I just want to have Essbase reassociate itself with the AAS db in a different location the following, which one to pick?

    Essbase Administration Services
    Configure the database
    Register with Shared Services
    Deploy to the application server

    Essbase provider services
    Register with Shared Services
    Deploy to the application server
    Unregister the SSP.

    Register with Shared Services
And one more (can not see on the screenshot)

  • Migration Oracle RAC to the new data center

    Hi all

We are 'legacy' Oracle 11 G RAC cluster from another company and I am looking for a way to migrate with the minimum of downtime. Our team has no CARS, nor database administrator Oracle also experience.

We intend to test the migration by cloning the environment a few weeks before and just see if everything is OK.

Question is, what is the best way to migrate this RAC cluster and it's data to a new data center? Reinstallation of the operating system (Linux) and recreate the RAC cluster are not an option I want to examine.

For example, in the land of SQL Server, we can use sending newspapers or replication to keep a copy of the database in the new data center as close as possible direct database (data-wise). Date of commissioning, we stop the direct instance, run last restore log or something else, then set up the databases on the new data center.

    Thanks in advance.

Data Guard. It is the name of "log shipping" feature Oracle. It's probably closer to always on SQL Server availability groups, except that the Oracle database is a large group.

I speak not Active Data Guard which is an extra cost that gives options on top of Data Guard.

    Brian
