Migration between two Mac Pro

I've upgraded to a MacPro 4.1 old in the new 'trash' MacPro.  But I only have one monitor.  Is the hot port "swapable"? display

Yes, it's hot.

You can also get Thunderbolt > FireWire adopter and connect the two through FW and start 4.1 in target disk Mode and perform the migration.

If you want to use a network connection using a wired connection. WiFi is slow

  • Can I use Lightroom CC between two Macs with different versions of the operating system

I have the CC for photographers. I keep my work to Dropbox LR catalog and access them from my MacBook Air laptop or my desktop iMac computer. Currently, two computers are running the same version of Mac OS. I think to upgrade the laptop for the new OS of Sierra, but because the office is older, I thought maybe not upgrade (it is near the minimum end of systems that can run Sierra). Can someone tell me if there is a conflict with the help of the LR catalog between two computers if they are not both running the same version of Mac OS. When the catalog is saved in the operating system that you are starting, it would still be compatible for use on the computer with the previous version of Mac OS? Thank you! Barbara

If the machines use the same version of the software, then the files should be feasible in both machines.

  • iTunes sync between two Macs

Newby here: must be a current situation... I have an old iMac from 2004 still purring along and I use it only for iTunes, fuelled an amp for home.  There are about 20 GB of songs.  My 'new' baby is an iMac 2012 also with about 20 GB music.  A large part of the songs are common to both, but many are not.  I would like to sync the two so that both machines have all the songs.  Is not its too difficult for me.  Please tell me it's easy!  That would be a backup for my music.  Otherwise, I need to find all the songs on the new Mac that aren't on the former and copy it on the old iMac for use through the amp.  Please people if you can help.

No, there is no easy way, especially with one of the Mac's so old and do not have all the characteristics of a new iTunes such as sharing at home or iCloud.

The only way to merge them is to copy the folder Media from one computer to another (using a flash drive if necessary), add files to iTunes, then spend a day treaty duplicates.

It would help if you provided more details about the computers, their versions of the operating system, versions of iTunes, if they are connected in a network.  The only way I can think of making some work is if once you have support all in one place, you run separate iTunes library files that correspond to the versions different iTunes you are using, but they point to the media in a central location.  However, they will always have different playlists and adding or removing media must be made by the two libraries individually.

  • migrate between the Mac from different countries

    Hello!

I have an old imac that I bought in Germany (running SnowLeopard) 8 years ago.

Now, I live in Sweden and I think of buying a new imac here.

Does anyone know if I could transfer all the settings and data using the migration assistant or the computers "speak different languages?

It does not matter where the computer was purchased?

This may seem like a dumb question but I have had this problem in my work with two windows computers and had to migrate manually all... I hope it works smoother with Apple?

Thank you very much in advance!

    / Samzwo

Regardless of where the computer was purchased, but if you run into problems with the Migration from 10.6 to 10.11 Wizard I don't know, it's a big jump.

  • Direct networking Mac Pros, and via a switch setting

I have a Mac Pro from previous gen and will migrate to a 2013. I'll keep one older goes for FCP7 concerts that come to life.

So for the migration and the initial period of work the bugs out ("Dang?', where is the After effects plugin "AW, forget a font! "Where this stupid buy code?") I'll need to have network; I also need to buy a bunch of attachments for spinning-disk RAID, SSD, optical drive, etc. There will be a period I will access pictures and things of the old system while working on another.

So my question: the old Pro is connected to a switch and several macs are networked throughout my space. There is an additional port close to my office so I can network the pro - but it it possible/fast/sought somehow to have old mac plugged into the switch and plug the other into the free Ethernet port on the old, because they will be sitting side by side (Yes, my office will be a mess for awhile).

Basically, I was wondering if a direct connection between two Mac will be faster file transfers and allow a new access to the internet.

(I know how to add the new for the network, but still she wondered why there are two ports on Mac high range). Thanks for any thoughts.

for near-Hard Drive performance, you need a Gigabit Ethernet switch. If you do not, you must get a. It's the only acceptable way to manage the transfer of files from local computer.

Your router has no need to gigabit speeds, because your Internet connection is not likely to be faster than 100M bps. The "trick" (if it exists) is that the computer transfers to use Ethernet wiring, but they do not use the routing on the router, only direct data transfer function (switch functions ""), if a cable like that. "

There is no simple way to get faster speeds, like plug it into a computer by cable-computer.

The second Ethernet port is good for storage area network connecting, as a NAS.

You can use a pencil of Apple with more than one iPad Pro, but you still need to plug pair to use with each device, serparately.

  • Projects on Mac Pro MacBook: redraw problems in the timeline

    Hi all

my main workstation for Premiere Pro CC 2014 is a Mac Pro 2010, I am overseas edition on a 2013 15 "MacBook Pro retina. Transfer of projects between the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro works fine, but every time I have (re) - open a project on the Mac Pro, which has been edited/saved on the MacBook Pro before, I have massive refresh problems in the timeline: it's especially black, when I move the mouse some rectangles under will become gray, other blacks--in simple words : it is not possible to work with this timeline at all. CUDA/GPU switching does not help, removing previews, re-opening windows did not help either.

PPro CC 2014 Timeline Bug 01.jpgPPro Redraw Bug 02.jpg

When I create a new sequence, it looks good, I can't copy all clips in a timeline messed up in this new sequence but first doesn't 'see' and copy a small fraction of the clips. The only solution I found, had to IMPORT sequences of MacBook Pro projects. In this case, everything looks and works as expected.

Everyone has seen the problems of this kind?

    Hello

Creative cloud apps cannot be migrated as a return to the top, you will need to download and install apps as a new on the new machine, please follow the steps below to remove and reinstall the creative cloud application:

1 force quit Adobe all processes in the activity monitor (for example, CC, Core sync, the broker CC library, Office, Adobe, Adobe CPI, demon Adobe Crash etc..)

2-go to: Finder > Applications > utilities > Adobe installer > uninstall Adobe Creative cloud (if problems uninstall Trash)

3-go to: Finder > Applications > utilities > (delete these two folders - creative cloud Adobe and Adobe Application Manager )

4 - right click on the Finder icon, then select the "Go - To" folder. You will get a text box, type in the following command and then press the 'return '. ("Not to be missed ~ symbol")

~/Library (It will open the folder of the user's library.)

How to download an application even my Mac - Pro two different hardrives!

So, how to use precisely, export to assimilate new needs...

I think you are using the wrong terminology.  It would be useful to know the application in question.   Some applications have specific licenses to drive, some use the network adapter on the computer to monitor the conditions of authorization and some won't let you have two simultaneous copies running at the same time on two different computers.  Upload is the term used to send a file from a client computer (for example, a user of an internet provider) to a server (for example an internet provider).   If English is not your language, please indicate what it is.

  • Can I install two graphics on MAC Pro 2008

I can install two graphics on MAC Pro 2008 cards, and if possible it can cause problems?

Yes. Just not the slot 1 (double-width slot) and slot 2 are 16 x and Gen 2. Slots 3 and 4 are 4 x Gen 1.1 so not good for graphics cards.

Note also that even the graphics cards require one or even 2 power connectors to THE but the mac has only 2 available

  • CD part downloads between two iTunes accounts on the same MacBook Pro

We have a MacBook Pro shared between two users

Can I share a CD downloaded on two iTunes accounts, without using home sharing?

I don't really want to download the same CD twice as that would waste space unnecessary.

    Thank you

    Without using home sharing...?

I guess it's technically possible if you put the iTunes Media folder to somewhere that is accessible from the two user accounts, but which will cause more problems than it is worth.  For example, you can add new songs in your iTunes library and the other user iTunes library will not know about these songs.  Or another user can delete music files, while your iTunes library expects that these records of songs to always be there.

  • switch between windows 10 & OS mac pro book

How to switch between windows 10 & OS on mac pro book

You install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant or using a virtual machine, Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox.

If the Boot Camp Assistant served as you switch between Windows and OSX in shutdown and restart the computer while pressing the option key. When the Boot Manager appears you choose the operating system you want to start. More info here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

If you have installed Windows on a virtual machine, you start the virtual machine in OSX and select Windows. More info on the sites of Parallels, Fusion or VirtualBox.
