Mining listener logs

Hi all

11.2.0.3.11

AIX6

Is there a views v $ than the customers login to our database of mines prod? Or maybe a view v$ which maps the listener.log such that I can choose all the IP addresses of the clients to connect to our database of PROD. This is similar to ADRCI than the alert_PROD.log of mines. I want to provide all IP addresses to access our database of prod daily report to my boss.

Thank you

MK

You can use awk, sed, tr on listener.log to achieve this.

But why not just use:

Select machine, Terminal session of v$.

    Hello

As the listener.log file grows, the DBA will want to remove or rename this log file.

    Dear user1175505,

You can either save the listener.log old and fat, or you can simply remove everything! :)

However, if you change the name of it and create a new listener.log file, you need to show it to the Oracle if not that Oracle will start in this new log file not writing.

    Here's an illustration for you;

    $ lsnrctl show log_file;

  • tfactl analyze the Listener.log file?

    Hello

We have the tfactl installed in the release: 12.1.2.1.1.

The tfactl analyzes the listener.log in a CCR environment?

I start a tfactl analyse - search ' / service_update/c "-from 2d-comp all but the tfactl is not a result.

I am sure that he has "service_update" messages in the listener.log file.

    concerning

    Hello

After the documentation review and do a few tests so I found the following:

Check which directories are "monitored" using the command:

    tfactl printed directories

Here, you have found also the TNS log files or structure.

If a special directory is not a party, then add the directory with the following command:

    tfactl directory add - public - noexclusions - collectall-node

What are the correct options please see the documentation.

  • Purge listener.log

    Hello

We use oracle 10 g 2 in the aix system. My listener.log file grows continually and I want to rename the listener.old log file and create a new listener.log empty. I found a method on the internet that seems to be good.

    lsnrctl % left log_status
    % mv listener.log listener.old
    lsnrctl set log_status % on

I have a question on that. The last line will create a new listener.log file and new logs is written in that? So hot now I create a listener.log file and make sure the newspapers here.

    Thank you

    Hello

You can rename the listener log file by following the steps you mentioned in your first post on this thread.

    1. Set the listener log status to off.
    2. Rename the current listener.log file.
    3. Set the listener log status to on. Oracle automatically generates a new listener.log file.

Here is an example for you.

    [oracle@ora1-1 ~]$ cd /u01/app/oracle/diag/tnslsnr/ora1-1/listener/trace

Since your listener 11g, LISTENER_11G2 is set in the port of 1923, you all it explicitly every time. By default the lsnrctl controls the default listener that is configured in the port 1521.

  • Listener.log to CCR 11202

    Hello

I installed RAC on linux redhat 5.5 11202.
    ...
    LOG_DIRECTORY and LOG_FILE

As you are in Oracle * 11.2*, you can have the ADR (automatic diagnostic repository) enabled.

If this is the case, you don't have to adjust these settings.

The listener "logs" are normally in * $ORACLE_BASE/diag/tnslsnr //*.

Below, you will have the structure of directories of ADR:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e17120/diag001.htm#ADMIN11008

How to create and delete the file from the listener? Windows 2000 operating system...

Secondly, I also have a problem with the files of archive log... I have about 150 file 102M each... Even once is not good...

Need HELP to drown in a sea of oracle... Given the Shrink command...

At least the listener issue first and then the problem of the journal archive...

  • AMT-12505 in listener.log opening SqlDeveloper 2.1 (maybe a bug?)

Hi I have a strange problem:
    1 download sqldevloper
2 create a connection by using the connection type is TNS. Select an entry in my tnsnames.ora to connect to a distance X (service_name specified) on the server Y. The first strange thing is that all the entries in the tnsnames file appears two times.
3 if I test the connection, it works...
    4 close sqldeveloper
5 when I opened sqldeveloper (just open the program without connecting to anything) I get no errors, but I see in my listener.log (Server Y):

    DIC / 04/2009 11:39:31 * (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = null) (CID = (PROGRAM =) (HOST = __jdbc__)(USER=null))) * (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp (PORT = 2285))(HOST=192.168.8.105)) * establish * zero * 12505
AMT-12505: TNS: listener non ha solved SID when nel descrittore di hotel

    192.168.8.105 is my ip address

I do not understand why it uses SID = instead of = SERVICE_NAME

If I place the cursor of the mouse on the connection icon (without clicking) I see an error TNS-1252 with the desripter connection: Y, 1521, NULL (I think this null value causes all these problems).
Why? When opens in sqldeveloper, it try to test the connection?
Even if it's like that the connection will work: if I try to connect whit has respect, everything works fine.

Am I doing something worng? This is a bug?
With SqlDeveloper 1.5, everything works fine. Everything is the same, so I guess it's a problem of the new version (2.1).

Oracle of Oracle 10.2 client, SqlDeveloper, Version 2.1.0.63, Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3

Hope someone can help me, if something is not clear I can post more details (just tell me what you need).

  • 11g listener log location

Database has been improved from 9.2. 11g and 11 g new listener.ora files have these 2 entries:

    LOG_DIRECTORY_csct = $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/log
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_csct = $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/trace

However, it seems that listener logs written in these 2 directories

    $ORACLE_BASE/diag/tnslsnr/servername/DB_NAME/path
    $ORACLE_BASE/diag/tnslsnr/servername/DB_NAME/alert

Why this is happening and how I can change back.

    Thank you.

    You change comes back with:

    1. in listener.ora

    DIAG_ADR_ENABLED_=off
    LOG_DIRECTORY_=

    2. stop and restart the receiver.

  • Advice on best practices for managing analysis listener logs and logs of the list

    Hi friends,

I just started a job as a dba CARS for some big 24 * 7 systems administrator, I've never worked with RAC and clusterware.

    2 space issues

    (1) very large listener_scan2.log in the folder /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/ < servername >/listener_scan2/trace
    (2) bunch of files log_nnn.xml /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/ < servername >/listener_scan2/alert folder (4 GB out of stock)

Welcome advice on how best to manage these short-term (i.e. remove manually) and recommended practice and the safest way (adri maybe not sure how it works with listeners to scan)

Welcome advice and commands that could be used in these cleaning and a robust mechanism in place for the management of the log file in RAC and CLusterware systems safely.

Finally should I check the log files in /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/ < servername >/listener_scan2/alert regulalrly?
My experience with newspapers in the listener, is that they are only considered when there are major problems of connectivity and overall are ignored.

    Thanks for your help,
    Cheers, Rob

Have you had problems in need for the purpose of investigation? If this is not the case, just remove them. Are the logs required for some sort of verification process? If so, gzip to a place where you can use your operating system from tape backup strategies to preserve their n-days. Once you delete a file active, he must recreate the file and continue without interruption.

You must stop the other listeners and restart this listener.

  • Question about the use of control Grid to sweep the listener log

We have recently implemented the Grid control and use version 10.2.0.5 to control several 10.2.0.4 databases and 10.2.0.3 on AIX servers. The grid control server running AIX also (5.3 NT12).

I was able to set up the monitor to ORA-errors in the alert log, but I don't see anything obvious that will allow me to monitor/analyze the log of the earphone for TNS-errors.

Can someone help me with this? This feature is available in the Grid control, or do I need to create a custom script and run as a user-defined measure?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

    Hello

"You can use metric host - number of lines corresponding journal template file" for this.

    Thank you

  • Is it safe compress the listener during execution of system logs?

    Hello

I am new to CARS and work on 24 * 7 databases in a RAC CLuster.

There is a very large listener_scan2.log in the /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/ < servername >/listener_scan2/trace file, the file is about 2.8 G.

I did some research and saw that compress f was recommended via crontab, this has the advantage of being something that can be automated and run monthly

    for example

    # listener log aging
    17 0 * 0/usr/bin/compress f /u01/app/grid/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener/trace/listener.log
    17 0 * 0/usr/bin/compress f /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener_scan1/trace/*log
    17 0 * 0/usr/bin/compress f /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener_scan2/trace/*log
    17 0 * 0/usr/bin/compress f /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener_scan3/trace/*log

Is it safe run these while the system and the listener are rising and running, the listener will create a new listener.log file if one is compressed, even if the listener is not restarted.

Other articles suggest using lsnrctl and change the location of the listener newspapers and then rename/compress/remove the old log file, then set the location of the back log listener even once...
Anyone used this in a Production System?

I look forward to your comments.

    Thank you very much
    Rob
