  • High utilization of the processor for Taskmgr.exe (Vista)

My HP laptop with Vista still seem to work at 20-30% cpu usage.
I have disabled all unnecessary programs, hard drive and network are not accessible, internet security scans are disabled.
The Task Manager and resource monitor shows what is Taskmgr.exe.  I have the gauge of cpu speed opened the box in the window.
Memory usage is 50% of 3 GB.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 installed and the operating system is set to do automatic updates.
Is there a way to stop this use of unnecessary CPU by taskmgr?

Taskmgr.exe should work only when the Task Manager interface is open.

Use this alternative to establish what happens when you don't open the Task Manager

Based on your knowledge of Windows, you can also use this tool to examine the discussions and the batteries in the process that uses a lot of CPU. This should help you identify the cause.

  • Unhandled Win32 exception occurred in spoolsv.exe (Vista)

I get an intermittent runtime exception in spoolsv.exe.  My guess is that the Service Manager is periodically launching the print spooler and not.  Printing does not work.

I'm not aware that I recently installed anything that would affect the print spooler (except that my son has been sleeping with Adobe PhotoShop and has recently printed a few very complex docs).

I have AVG Antivirus running on my system, so I don't think that the problem is malware.

Any suggestions as to what could be the problem and how to fix it?

Open the network manager, or control panel.

    Look under the material.

    Click Printers.

    uninstall it then reinstall it.

  • Cmd.exe Vista fails to run if users and/or the absent Group Auditors

    Hi all
In the current context, there is a policy where the files in the % system32% are allowed to be owned by system administrators and. A question arose where after that conversion of these permissions cmd.exe is unable to run. The addition of the user who is currently logged solves this, adding a Group myGroup however with the content user fails.  Also I can give the user (who is an administrator) ownership of cmd.exe and it always fails to run. The command prompt tells me that I don't have permissions that seems odd. Did I miss an edition of registry or is there something else I should be looking for here?

  • Error "CD C:/users/Jamie/Desktop/virtual/Virtual CD Manager.exe Manager is not a valid Win32 application".

Original title: MSG of ERROR for windows.exe, Vista 32-bit operating system

MSG reads as FOLLOWS: "C: / users/Jamie/Desktop/Virtual CD Manager/Virtual CD Manager.exe is not a valid Win32 application"... What that means?

    Hello jesholder,

If you try to run a program that is not designed for your version of Windows, you can get this error. Although many old programs designed to work in older versions of Windows will work with new versions of Windows, unfortunately, not all programs will not work.

    • If the program is an MS-DOS program more former start program or Windows, you can get this error.

    • If the program is designed for a 64-bit version of Windows and you are running in a 32-bit version of Windows, it will not work and generate this error.

I wasn't able to check through the Windows Vista Compatibility Center if Virtual CD Manager is compatible with Windows Vista or not.
You will need to check with your software vendor to see if it is compatible, or if there is a updated version that will work with Windows Vista.

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

    Use the following steps:

    (1) right click on the program

    2) click Properties

    3) click on the Compatibility tab

    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows XP or other system that the program has been run successfully operating.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

  • ThrustMaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro do not install under Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro and it will not install in Windows 7 64 bit, Windows reports it cannot find a driver.  The manufacturer says not all newer than Windows XP drivers.

    I thought about it:

    1. Download ftp://ftp.thrustmaster.com/accessories/pc/hotas/exe/HOTASCOUGAR/2007_HCO_VISTA_64_RC1.exe (Vista for their Cougar Joystick driver)
    2. Make a click on the file and choose Run as Vista Sp2 compat mode and run as admin.
    3. Run the installation program and the joystick connection when you are invited (and installed).
    4. End task on the Setup (it is always waiting for the cougar to be plugged).
    5. Enjoy!

  • 36.0 Firefox would be the conduit that allows compatibilitycheck.exe on my Vista 32 bit of Acer laptop? I suspect that either TBird 31.5.0?

My 32 bit Vista Acer Aspire 4730Z recently suffered from the problem of "compatibilitycheck.exe". See (http://forum.kaspersky.com/lofiversion/index.php/t313939.html) for more information on this problem.

I repeatedly go to Safe Mode and use the features of BACK delete the incriminated, compatibilitycheck.exe and others in a directory named 'Compatibility checker', which often gave rise to any user account on the PC. I do this with WiFi turned off, IE. no connectivity on the web much more. I reboot with WiFi turned off in normal mode and the PC is lightening fast. However after I have reconnect to WiFi Internet viruses, infections or anything or returns, hogs CPU and brings my Acer to its knees.

I can watch spawning take place before my eyes in the Windows Task Manager "Processes" where multiple instances appear each CPU grabbing.

Spin 36.0 FireFox with NoScript 2.6.9.16 and TBird 31.5.0, CLAMWIN AV 098.6 worm is also installed with the current Virus DB always up to date.

Downloaded suggested Malware removal tool msert.exe. Performed a full scan which found and removed a Trojan horse and an adware malware program. Unfortunately, I inadvertently closed the details of the report that calls the two offending programs so I can't go to the list of their names in this response. Can someone tell me where msert.exe reports are stored? If so I will list them in this forum as part of a response to this topic.
