I managed to fix it.  I found the Mr. Fix It tool on the Microsoft Web site and who was running, and it worked.  He fixed the corrupted registry file and allowed me to install the player.  I had tried it once before, but it has not been successful.  This time, it worked.

    Hi tedm81099702

First of all, I'm no expert, but I had exactly the same problem and did the following.  It worked for me:

First go to this site: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.10/en_US/

From this link I downloaded/installed the previous version of the US 11.0.10 of the drive.  Don't panic when it does not work... It gives the same error, BUT click Browse for button location and the AcroRead.msi file appears (should in any case).  Click top and then OK...

After I installed the previous version, I then installed the new version of Acrobat Reader DC from here: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC install for all versions

It removes the old version and install.  I hope this helps!

I can not reinstall adobe reader directly (without deleting the old one, even if it is incomplete) because the installation block current, of the view that this program is already on my computer, even if it does not!

I've been on labs.adobe.com and tried the adobe acrocleaner cleaning program, this does not work either.

    Thank you for your help.

  • AcroRead.MSI missing after the return of 10 Windows 7

When I took over 10 Windows to Windows 7 (for MS Word 2007 does not work), I found that I could not open any pdf file - (view) I reinstalled installed reader of PDF and the 'DC' version, but it does not work, report an error like below. I was unable to uninstall it (did not appear in the installed programs list) and a new 'clean' facility has reported that a new version was already there.

I looked in the folder identified in the screen below, grabbing but the path did not exist and the AcroRead.MSI was not present anywhere on my system.

I tried the recommended on this forum and then Cleanup tool after a reboot done an fresh install using the link of the same ad, but it still reported the error as shown.

I also tried the same procedure to install the version XI, but it's the same thing.

Final error shown after the following two messages appeared was to declare the existence of a later version on the system.

I would appreciate a wisdom on how to overcome this dilemma if anyone has experienced this before? Thanks much GP

  • can not find the file acroread.msi

I tried to reinstall the drive because there was a corruption.  I have upgraded to Windows 10 but had to return due to incompatibility with a critical software.  When I try to install the player from the site, he runs into a problem to find the AcroRead.msi file.  I can browse and find, but then the installer says it's an invalid Setup program.  After the cancellation, I get a message that says that the installation has failed and that there is a later version installed already.  When I try to open this file, I get an error that MSVCP120.dll is missing with the suggestion that I try to reinstall.  Any help?

    Hi WoodstockWoman,

-What, exactly, is a transcript of the error message that you receive?

This problem may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

    • The Windows Installer files that are on your drive hard are missing or are damaged.
    • You install or remove a program that uses the package file to install software for the Microsoft install (MSI) Windows (.msi). For example, this can occur when you try to install Microsoft Office on your computer.

Follow the steps in this link to fix the problem:
