Missing application VMDK files

We are still in our phase of testing for the Volumes of the App, but I had a night to occur today ' hui / last odd number.  All the VMDK files for all applications assigned to a specific group has been removed from the data store.  Applications are always in Volumes App Manager...  When I signed up this morning with this same test user, I saw a lot of mistakes in the VMDK files missing vSphere Client.  The metadata file is still there, but the VMDK disappeared.  I'm looking through my logs, but all I can find are the newspapers of Volume of the App to the last time these applications were attached, which was last night while I was testing with this specific group.  Our linked clone pools are set to delete on logoff desktop... it's the only thing I can think that maybe my test user disconnected and before that applications have been detached office has been removed by the sight and somehow see deleted these files VMDK app as well.  I also put my models in Volume of the App, but I did on the middle of the day yesterday and did a lot of tests after that.  Just try to list everything that has changed...

I'm on Volumes App 2.7 and 6.1 view Horizon.  vCenter 5.1U1, ESXi 5.1U3.

All my other AppStacks are very well is that these 8 apps in this group that I was testing with

Has anyone meet this or perhaps an idea of what past?  I will recreate my apps today and try to find a combination of events that repeat what has happened.

I've tested the new 2.9.0 version and since my initial tests problems has been resolved.  See this post as well:

  • missing application builder files

    Hi all

I'm new to LabView and I'm trying to deploy an application as an executable file. I'm under LabView 2009 on Win XP Pro. I have the application builder and ran the application Builder tutorial. The tutorial has worked, but do the same steps on my project which called screws of several different libraries did not work. I'm not trying to build an installer again, just a stand alone executable running on a machine with the LabView run already installed calendar. I don't ask anything by reference, all Sub screws are called explicitly.

The VI I'm deploying thin works running in LabView. Application successfully Builder generates an executable file. When the executable is run, it appears a dialog looking for a bunch of sub box face. I have attached a copy of the executable invites me for a sub - VI contained in the vi.lib

First, is there a user manual or something like that for Application Builder? LabView help describes how to create a stand-alone executable, but not described all the settings in detail. I probably just one of the wrong settings.

Any ideas or suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Turns out you can't build project applications in the instr.lib folder. I moved the project to the folder instr.lib and the builder application worked well.

  • Problem with vmdk file based in Win7 - missing lost cause?

    Hello

I have used VMWare for a good years now without incident, until today.

I have a VM that today seems to have lost its base vmdk file.

I think that the disk storage ran out of room when the pc has been closed for the last, but it seems odd this missing file.

It is worth noting that the virtual machine was actually suspended rather close.

Here's a screenshot of what looks like the directory.

There was no 7.vmdk Windows' file and I could not recover despite some drive train recovery tools.

So my question is, is it a lost cause?

The file that is there now, I copied from one of the other virtual machines and renamed it (not that it works) in the hope that I could continue somehow.

I have read that these files are linked and the parent / child ID must be defined, but all discussions talk about modifying the files and I don't seem to be able to do this in windows. Is there a tool for this or I'm wasting my time?

I did a lot of research and reading without result, so thought I'd come and ask the experts

I'm a little confused on the different vmdk files.

Given the dates, I suppose it works actually in the file-000002, since the others do not appear to have been changed in a while.

If this is the case, why I need another and somehow I can come back by using only a single file and release a load of disk space?

It also means that the 000002 file displays the current status of the disk in it?

None of the other virtual machines has more than a vmdk file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    John.

replaced basedisk has done a good job - John is to copy its files to a second vmdk now - can't say anything about their status at the present time.

  • SRM and VMDK files on separate LUNS

Generally, all General all virtual machines requiring SRM are on a pair of LUN (i.e. all content VM). In the case of DR all LUNS are toggled together so that the entire virtual machine is in static mode for recovery.

However, we have a new requirement for a certain virtual machines that have a certain number of VMDK files, even if the virtual machines are SRM, they all have a single VMDK on separate LUNS which are not necessary for the failover. The question I have is if in the case of DR VM works on another site without the missing VMDK file? and the virtual machine becomes corrupted if all files are not present?

I did some tests in my environment. This works.

I have a VM that resides on the data store ' *-SRM02 '. I added the second vmdk residing on non-replicated data store "LabManager02".

Now when I try to protect this virtual machine with MRS, I get an error:

A virtual machine has one or more devices that do not have file on Lun being replicated backings.

and the Wizard "To configure Protection" opens.

On the "Storage devices" screen, you can see that the second vmdk has a yellow warning mark:

When you press the "Detach" button, the unreplicated vmdk turns to "Not attached":

I ran the resumption of the trial, and he succeeded.

Once, make sure data residing on the partitions that you want to detach is not needed for the server and applications to run normally.

    Hello

Please check section of applications that the built-in apps still exists or not. This will clear if the built-in apps are only missing the start screen or permanently missing. If you find them, re-PIN. If you can't find them, Refresh and they all will be back over your app so lost data file.

  • My vmdk files not visible from vpshere but visible from ssh console

    Hello

I would use my dataontap virtual appliance of Netapp communities tar file.

Their installation guide, they show just to put this on the data store tar file.

This tar file contains the following files:

    DataONTAP.vmdk

    DataONTAP.vmx

    DataONTAP - flat hard

    DataONTAP - nvram.vmdk

    DataONTAP-nvram - flat hard

    DataONTAP - s001.vmdk by DataONTAP - s126.vmdk (126 disk files)

    DataONTAP - sim.vmdk

    DataONTAP - var.vmdk

    DataONTAP-var - flat hard

I put this vsphere on the data store file and extract it to ssh connection on esxi with the command "tar".

All files are now visible to PuTTY connection on esxi

1 / but when I browse datastore, I see not all vmdk files. (missing 126 files on disk)

2 / when I turn, this virtual machine, I have this error "DataONTAP - sim.vmdk file not found on /vmfs/volumes.../.

But this file exist on the path specified error.

    Configuration:

    ESXi 5.1, NFS datastore.

    Stand-alone node (without cluster)

    No vcenter

Spatial data store are free and available.

Checksum for this tar file are OK.

    Thank you very much

    Concerning

The files in the archive are the data files, and not the descriptor. I guess DataONTAP - sim.vmdk is the file descriptor for these files DataONTAP - sXXX.vmdk . To ensure that this is the case, please attach the DataONTAP - sim.vmdk.

If this is the case, here are the steps that should make the usable virtual machine:

    1. load the muliextent module
      vmkload_mod multiextent
    2. Rename the virtual disk file to a temporary file name
      vmkfstools EI DataONTAP - sim.vmdk DataONTAP-sim - old.vmdk
    3. clone the virtual disk in a format supported the original file name
      vmkfstools-i DataONTAP-sim - old.vmdk DataONTAP - sim.vmdk - d thin - an ide
    4. unload the module multiextent
      multiextent vmkload_mod-u

At this point, you should be able to turn on the virtual machine. If everything works as expected, you can delete all the temporary files of DataONTAP-sim-old * hard .

  • Windows 7 vmdk file not found, but it's really there...

Had a running instance of MAX OS 10.9.2 Fusion 6 and a VM Windows 7, everything worked fine.  Had to reinstall the operating system using the procedure of restoration of Mac (alt - R during startup) to remove stuff JAMF Casper and re - take control of my machine after leaving a company. After recovery / re-install of OS X... I tried to use the original VM file and the merger could not find the vmdk files. So I restored a "Windows 7.vmwarevm" VM file Time machine. Same exact results... Fusion is up fine, recognizes the Windows 7 VM, but is not able to find the file "Windows 7.vmdk". When I try to start the virtual machine, I get the error message "could not open the file" / users/brucekreis/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized / 7.vmwarevm/Windows 7.vmdk Windows ":"the system cannot find the specified file". ".

I can see it in a terminal window, checked that I am the owner of all files and directories in the tree, and they have at least the permissions for the owner, RW read only for all the rest... I changed the permissions to all access for files and dir (chmod-r 777 < dir >) tree and even reset the ACL (r n < dir > chmod). I can change the configuration files using the console VMware fusion library and check that it changes through the terminal window.  I tried to delete the .lck files and catch instant and re-did the file .vxm to the 7.vmdk Windows, without any change in the error message.

I always suspect permissions, ACL, or something dealing with the recovery changed. I restored the original file .vmwarevm yet once, so you can see it of original state before I started to make changes and ran the util to collect information of technical support. I attached the zip file.

FWIW... I tried to import the virtual machine and create a new virtual machine from this instance, but it is gray in molten selection windows, as if it is not recognized as a valid VM.

    Thank you in advance...

You are missing two scopes binary "twoGbMaxExtentSparse', a basic disk, and the other from the first snapshot disk.

    Windows 7 - s009.vmdk

    Windows 7-000001 - s008.vmdk

It is a workaround solution mainly for the express purpose of recovering data from the user, which is stored in the virtual hard disk, not necessarily get working 100% again.

    Copy Windows 7 - s040.vmdk for Windows 7 - s009.vmdk and Windows 7-000001 - s039.vmdk for Windows 7-000001 - s008.vmdk.

This replaces the missing binary extensions with empty extents.  This allows VMware Fusion a string of competition and makes it look like a complete set of files hard.

The problem is the two missing bodies, look at the size of each before and after, there will be some lack of content.  How the mission critical, can not say.

You can try to start normally or start first with an ISO Image live and make recovering data first, and then try to run normally.  I can't say exactly what will be broken/missing except however backups clean* you don't have much choice.

    ==========

    * It is a known fact that Time Machine is not 100% reliable backing up/restoring VMS in all circumstances/conditions.  Also back up Virtual Machines via Time Machine of disk/time intensive and wastes a lot of space for something that may be corrupted and worthless time to restore it.  At least I would exclude the Virtual Machines with virtual machines and Time Machine shutdown, not suspended and VMware Fusion closed and then manually copy the VMS to another location, preferably on a different physical hard drive.  So keep the user data stored in the virtual machine saved out of the Virtual Machine on a regular basis in order to always have a backup of the current user data.  If you need to restore a properly saved by VM is not as common at least you will have a virtual working Machine and data user to go forward with when you find out your Time Machine backup of the virtual machine fails.

  • VMDK file not recognized

I have a tfrom a vmdk file backup IVMS that I'm putting on another server and when I try to add it and the high point location data store some files appear so I can't restore my files.  The file is quite larre so I can't move it too locatoins but I tried different with the same results. The file is called... on server_1 - flat hard.  Is there a reason that this file cannot be mounted.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you

Each virtual disk on ESXi consists of two files. The data file (-flat.vmdk or - delta.vmdk) and the hard header/descriptor file. From what you write, it looks like the hard file header is missing. Please take a look at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1002511 for details to recreate the header file. If you are not sure, please provide details of the - flat.vmdk file (exact name, size in bytes, and the question of whether she was thin or thick put in service).

  • After the migration to the new Mac Pro Dreamweaver will not launch, said missing menus.xml file. How to solve this?

After migrating to a new Mac Pro Dreamweaver CS6 launch. It is said that missing menus.xml file. How to solve this?

    Hi rustyg12,

    Go to/Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS6/Configuration/Menus/menus.bak

You will see a menus.xml file here - it is a backup copy of the actual menus.xml file that uses DW.

Copy it from this folder, paste 1 level above (in the file menu).

Launch DW. See if it works.

  • Play a suspended virtual machine, vmdk file not found or the specified file is not a virtual disk

Hi, I have a problem that I can't solve with the usual methods.

    My data

    • software: VMVware Workstation 6.5.1 build 126130

    • Host: NB HP Compaq 2510p with 2 GB of ram

    • OS: Windows XP Pro SP3 5.12.2600

I have a Win XP Pro SP3 computer virtual created for my work:

    • 6-5 - 7.0 VM workstation

    • RAM: 512 MB

    • Windows XP Pro operating system

    • Processors: 1

    • CDRom: Autodetect

    • Floppy: Autodetect

    • USB: present

    • Sound card: Autodetect

    • Display: Autodetect

    • HARD drive is divided into 2 GB files

The problem lies in the HARD disk:

    • 40 GB declared

    • 0 MB recognized by the system

My VM was functional complete. After a suspension

    • The State remains suspended

    • When I try to resume, a pop-up window will appear "file not found: IATROS VM.vmdk" go through it...

the vmdk file exists (see my attached files).

When I try to see the features on the parameters, appears "the specified file is not a virtual disk" and all data in the pop-up are unknown or missing.

    I tryied to use the vmware_vdiskmanager with the command vmware - vdiskmanager.exe - R 'e:\appo1\IATROS VM.vmdk' in vain also.

I think that it is necessary to recreate a file descriptor for disc divided into 2 GB files.

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsotes/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1026266

but, if we compare the contents of the VMDK file with the discussion in the article, there seems to be no problem of format or content.

There are suggestions to solve the problem?

    can I await your response?
