Hi Rhonda,

I wouldn't have to download just a dll file to use.
What and when do you have your errormessage?

If you need a replacement OEM drive, you should check with the manufacturer of your computer (for help with the information needed to contact you please post your computer model & do)

If you do not have any support MS Windows installation / license you can buy here

  • Missing or corrupt HAL.dll

    Hi all

I'm working on a laptop (toshiba satellite) that does not start and displays the message "Windows could not start because of the following problem - the following files are missing or corrupt - hal.dll.

I tried to start form a XP disk and it hangs where it says, "Starting Windows" so I can't repair or the recovery console option. I ran as a result of power mau who said he replaced the boot with the new files and tried all the other recovery options. I still get the same message at startup. I then ran a Kaspersky Antivirus iso to cd rom and he said there were three viruses, but when I tried to rename or delete, it says that they were write-protected and could not be removed.

I was starting to think that maybe the hard drive was dead, but would not be Windows Installer or iso Kaspersky told me that?

Running out of ideas here and any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

  • Captivate 6 errors: Missing file libwinpthread - 1.dll and the Application could not start correctly (0xc000007b) under Windows 2008 R2

    Hello

I have a problem with Captivate 6 installation on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have 2 different scenarios where I tested it, but the result is the same.

    1. I used AMEE (Application Manager Enterprise 3.1) to create the installation of the deployment via SCCM 2012 Package.

Note that the current package works fine on Windows 7 (x 86 and x 64), but not on 2008 R2 error after I tried to launch the Captivate.exe application.

The error indicates that there is a missing file: libwinpthread - 1.dll and if I copy and made a recording of the present. DLL file then he sends another error saying: on-demand failed to start correctly (0xc000007b) so he won't ever let me launch the application.

2 now, if I install the package directly from the Original sources (CD) without creating any package AMEE after completing the installation, I have always the same error about the missing DLL file.

Is there a fix or workaround to install 6 Captivate on Win2008 R2?

    Thanks in advance and greetings.

This seems to be a generic question unrelated to Captivate. Here is a site that lists the possible causes.

  • Missing or corrupt hal.dll file. Computer will not start in XP

All of a sudden my computer does not open in XP.  Says it has a corrupt or missing hal.dll file I don't ' have a Windows XP CD.  What I can to correct without losing what is on the computer?  Must have been an update last night, because it was working fine before.

The usual problem with this message is not the hal.dll file is missing or corrupted - it usually just means that XP cannot find it to be abandoned because the file system has somehow got corrupted something like a power interruption, restart or abnormal termination... or your c:\boot.ini file is somehow corrupted (or both!).

You will have to start on something to fix.

Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Your system have IDE or SATA disks?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (This includes the plug pulling, power buttons, remove the battery, etc.).

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Then, you perform a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery first Console and report back how it works (which may be all you need to do):

    Here's how:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Cannot start the computer (error hal.dll)

Hi, I use Windows xp and when it loads, it says:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    \System32\hal.dll
Please reinstall a copy of the top of the queue.

I have the original Windows xp cd and when I boot from the cd the blue screen comes up saying "Windows Setup".
It automatically start doing something and then he stuck to "ACPI Plug & Play bus driver. Stucks HE there for a while and when it ends, I got an error message that says: "file acpi.sys cause unexpected error (32768) to 5964 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c line."

And when I press any button it just restarts the computer and it makes a loop in this way.
And by the way, safe mode and all the other modes do not work, I get the same error for hal.dll, and I can't reach the office.

    Help, please!

UPDATE: this time I received the error "acpi.sys file caused...". "now, I got that it's corrupted.

It is extremely unlikely that the hal.dll file is missing or damaged.

It is extremely likely that XP just cannot find the file.

I have no idea what you have tried so far things - have you tried to do a repair installation?

For this error, I first start in the XP Recovery Console (by pressing 'R' of your bootable CD) and run chkdsk /r on your system and then see how things appear after that, but try this notice from the Support Engineer and see how it works.

If you can't get into the Recovery Console any CD you or you are not sure what type of bootable media you have, you should make a bootable CD from the Console of the Recovery XP (no XP media required) and do not forget what you have.

  • 'Connect to' missing error and van.dll

A few days ago I noticed that I could not access "to connect to a network" and when I went to 'connect to' in the start menu, I got a message saying "error loading van.dll van.dll is not a valid win32 application."  I looked on forums to try to find a way to solve the problem, I did a disk check, a restoration of the system, I tried to replace the van.dll file.  Nothing seemed to help.  Now, 'connect to' disappeared from my Start menu and it will not appear as an option when I try to make the properties > start menu > customize to get it back, and I can not even access "connect to a network" of my notification area.  Does anyone have an idea what I can do?
