• Mix of ESX 3.5 and VMware ESX in the same cluster

  Hello

  I'm currently involved in ESX 3.5 Migrating virtual machines to a new vSphere environment.  All ESX 3.5 hosts running on obsolete kit and will be decomm had at the end of the project.  All hosts are managed by the same server vCenter.

  The only problem is, I have to add an additional ESX4 server, but there is not enough available physical switch ports.  I have decomm one ESX3.5 servers in order to free ports, but they run at 2 knots, and I will lose redundancy if a hardware problem arises.

  My proposed Solution: -.

  I think decomming ESX3.5 host 1 and move it to the new vSphere cluster.  The type of brand/model/CPU is different between the old and the new servers and I am not concerned by VMs DRS'ing between 2 environments, however, I understand that I have would be protected by HA if anything disastrous happened.  All hosts are connected to the same storage.

  You don't see any problem with that?

  You can have a mixed cluster, but this must be managed by vCenter 4.x.

  And you also need a license for the former hosts of 3.x server.

  HA will work.

  If the CPU is compatible VCA, then as VMotion, DRS, VCA will work.

  Hi guys,.

  I have 2 node ESX 3.51 that I manage with a VCENTER 2.5.0. Now come another ESX 2 with a VSphere 4.0 node and I'm not sure about:

  -can I use a recent version of vcenter to manage all ESX 4 nodes?

  -If none can use a last VCenter Client to do?

  -If think to upgrade a VCenter 2.5.0 for last afterwords version can I also connect an ESX 3.5.1 node to it?

  A guy told me that if I have 2 ESX 3.5.1 node connect to a VCenter I can disconnect and reconnect a Client to VCenter again, it's possible! A Vcenter is located on a different physical node.

  There is a problem to do?

  One more:

  It's possible to have a trial for the last Vcenter Client version?

  The client is the same if you connect to a single host ESX (i) or a vCenter.  There is no difference.

  Yes.

  You must allow the license server to 3.5 running even after upgrading vCenter.

  No, they can operate in the same cluster. But if you want to be able to migrate virtual machines between 4.0 and 3.5 to NOT upgrade from VM hardware version, leaving all virtual machines with hardware VM 4.

• Problems of loss of space with ESX 3.5i (URGENT)

  I had a DELL power edge 2950 ESX 3.5i with a raid 5 installation disc and loaded with more than 500 GB of space.

  Got

  4 VM miss this topic with much question (dv01, vm02, vm03 and vm04).

  Sometimes the last week, I noticed my ESX froze on me and not answered.

  then I managed to restart and then noticed I had only 2.0 GB of free

  space on the data store, when a week before I have more

  200 GB free.

  So I browsed the data store and noticed all the VM has had a new *. VMDK

  files inside the folder of each VM. marked dv01 - 000001.vmdk.

  VM02 - 000001.vmdk etc... showing a different size and the original

  VM01.VMDK display of the original size.

  When I add all these new files 000001.vmdk, it represents the entire lost, I lost.

  I am

  out of options and do not know what I can do to stop this mess.

  Why all the VMS create all these additional disks and lose all my

  space. I loaded the last 3.5i ESX patch and that seems

  You must create a world of pain! Whatever you do do not remove the basic disk - it is used for read access. All entries are in the delta (snapshot) until you commit (remove) the snapshot via the Snapshot Manager.

  I have 3 clips - a cam with audio mediocre, an another cam with fair on audio camera (including public environmental sounds) and good quality audio directly from the desktop.

  I have create a multicam video and want to then mix the last two audio sources.

  Edit the multicam clip in a project. Select the one you want. Use the components expand audio. In the Inspector in Channel Configurations, adjust the desired channels. Assuming you want to cut the image for audio, the easiest way is to detach the audio and to cut the vision angle Viewer.

• iMac, can I mix maps memory 2 G and 4 G

  I've just updated to El Capitan on an iMac with 4 GB of memory. Now, I want to add memory, because it is really slow.   It will be fine as long as they are installed in pairs (and, as long as your model can handle 8 GB modules). Just install them in the empty slots. Working with word documents or online will be not much faster - you will notice the difference in speed apps to respond, with graphic design and video editing, etc or game play. The new OS versions like more RAM, so you can not go wrong there.

  FYI, you do not run iOS on an iMac - Please edit your profile to show what OS version you are using. It helps the helpers.

  Please help I have the P3005 put up on a 64-bit Windows 7 computer. I used the universal driver 64 bits out of the site of hp to install. I'm trying to share the printer on another computer on the network. The other computer is a XP 32 bit SP 3. I can see the printer in the shared folder. When I try to install I get I need the correct driver. I followed http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02030517 instructions, but I can't install the 32-bit version of windows 7. I go to the properties of the printer Share, click additional drivers, click x 86 driver, but then I can't install the driver. I downloaded every xp off-site disk. Once again please help...

  Please, try the following steps to define a printer shared by a different OS envoirnemnt:

  First step: find the host name:

  Since the PC Windows 7, right click on computer and select Properties.
  Take note of the name of the computer.

  Second step: find the share name:

  Enter the control panel > devices and printers.

  Right-click on the P3005 printer, then select printer properties.

  Enter the sharing tab, and take note of the share name.

  Third step: define the shared printer on the client computer:

  1. Download and run the XP driver below:
     http://ftp.HP.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL16638/LJ-44169-4/ljp3005pcl6win2kxp2003vista2008.exe
  2. Click Unzip, the contect will be extracted in C:\HP LJP3005 PCL6 driver.
  3. Enter the control panel > printers and faxes.
  4. Click Add a printer.
  5. Select this option to Add a local printer.
  6. The bottom of the screen, create a new port by selecting the local railway.
  7. Set the port as \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAMEname using the above values.
  8. In the Printers list, click disk provided, paste the path to the driver (driver C:\HP LJP3005 PCL6) file, and click OK.
  9. Follow the steps to complete the wizard, and try to print.

• Mix - up to 32-bit and 64-bit

  Has a PC in dual boot Win7 and Win8. PC: Acer Extensa 7220. Win7 is 32-bit Windows and system settings indicate the Type of processor x 86, which means 32-bit machine (at least this is the info I found on the Internet on how to see what type of processor you have).

  After installing successfully Win8 32 - bit, system settings will appear Windows 32-bit on 64-bit.

  Re-install Win8 64 bit and everything still works very well.

  Now, what is that? Does really make a difference if you install Win8 32-bit or 64-bit? Apparently not, although the DVD 64-bit is much larger than the 32-bit version.

  You confuse the 32/64-bit (Windows) with the hardware software.   PC have been material 64 bits for many years, is that enough recently that 64-bit software is no longer available.

  Until fairly recently most of the installations of Windows were 32-bit as there was little need for 64-bit implementations because there were few other 64-bit software.
  Adding to the confusion is MS Office, which is available in 32 or 64-bit, but MS is recommended to run the 32-bit version, even on 64-bit Windows.
  The main advantage of 64-bit Windows is it can 'see' and use more memory can 32-bit.

• Mixed environment of Windows 7 and XP

  I installed a J4680 as a wireless device using my XP machine.  It works very well.  I then directly access the printer through the network on my Windows 7 computer and it prints some reason (for example, the same image appears twice on a page print correctly the first time and includes a smaller version of the image superimposed on top of itself on the second screen).  Proper display shows print preview.  When Windows 7 accesses the shared printer through the Windows XP machine it works fine but I want to be able to access without going through the Windows XP machine turned on.  Seems to need a different driver Windows 7 and does not get it.

  I tried to remove the printer from Windows 7 computer and install directly with the Windows 7 CD.  No change.

  Click Support & drivers at the top of the page, looking for the software and drivers for your printer and then download and install the Win 7 software. It should work fine then.
