Modular hard drive shell - series 'E '.

Does anyone know the part # for the shell (case) ONLY?  It does not contain the drive runs $20-30 and fits where is the dvd - rom.  You install your own hard drive in it.

My 4400 is on its way, and I would get one of these as soon as possible.

Thank you!

I have a Toshiba A660 and my agent says he has only TOUGH for A665 discs. aren't these hard drives so far? and are interchangeable. ?

Generally the hard drives on all models of laptops are exchangeable. It is important to use the HARD drive with the same specifications (interface). All new laptops have SATA hard drives inside, so you can exchange your HARD drive with the same or similar, and it can also be different HARD drive supplier.
In the past I have traded on the many different portable drives from Toshiba with success.

I put t know what do you mean with the same. Do you mean the capacity or sellers of HARD drive?

Most Toshiba laptops support the SATA controller and so it should be possible to use this 2.5 "SATA HDD in almost all laptops.

  • Recovery and hard drive failure

    System information:

    HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx

HARD drive: Seagate series ATA Disc Drive (7200 RPM) 320

    OS: Windows 7

After diagnosis that my hard drive has failed (the original supplied with the notebook), I bought a WD Scorpio 250 GB (5400 RPM) SATA to replace. I ran a diagnostic system on the HP splash screen and it found the new HDD very well. Because my old hard drive contained all the partitioned system recovery, I can't get it back using the player because it no longer works.

I was hoping to do a recovery of the system with the DVD, I did when I got the computer on the new drive hard, but during the process it has detected that the drive was much smaller than the original and would not allow me to proceed. I don't know what I can do now.

Do I need another HARD drive with the same requirements as that of the restoration of the system with the DVD, I made? Or am I just bad luck?

    Hello

It is a problem with the recovery discs do not like a drive smaller than the original.

However, it is an easy work around if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to the retail version accurate, you would need.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key Windows located on the underside of your laptop when requested and when installation is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally delivered with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.

  • Add second hard drive to r50e

Hello, I want to add a second internal hard drive of my ThinkPad r50e. How can I do?

    Thank you:

    Gabor

You need to replace the DVD player with hard drive Bay series adapter (if you have a SATA drive, the new drives are SATA)

Here are the codes for this product:

    FRU:26R9246

    P / N:26R9247

This adapter works on T41 machine. Make sure you check if the card works on R50 I am not sure about this.

  • The maximum size of HARD drive the BIOS sees in Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300 series systems

I want to switch the HARD disk in my Satellite Pro 4340. I know the 4200 and 4300 SP series can take at least a 20 GB HARD drive that I've already updated a SP4270 and SP4280 drives from 20GB already.

I did a search on assignments earlier re. Satellite Pro 4200 and computers portable 4300 series as various other contributors of this forum had already asked this question. A respondent suggested that they had installed a 60 GB HARD disk without problem.

Someone at - it else mounted a big HARD drive (or more even) in these notebooks series 4200 and 4300 and managed to do work OK and had the BIOS to recognize the total size of the HARD drive?

What is the largest swap HDD that someone did with success on these machines of 4200/4300?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to find accurate information about it. All you can find are reports from other users. I am really interested about other views.

By the way: 60 GB HARD drive is not sufficient for you?

  • 7 Pavilion g series: How can I get my software original HP HP pavillion 7g after my hard drive was replaced.

My laptop HP Pavilion 7 g series has been repaired with the new motherboard, card graphics and hard drive, but when I got back, it came with a clean windows 7 Home Edition premium installed, no updates no software, nada nothing, I was able to gently straighten the back update tool, but no HP software cannot be found I don't have a recovery disk because it was lost with the old hard drive.

Is anyway to recover part of the HP software that came with the computer? right now I can't even check to update drivers but I managed to create a new recovery partion in my new hard drive with a download of HP.

Thank you very much, you have no idea how much this will help me, I just got the phone yesterday after repairs.

I was lost, but now, thanks to you, I found the light.

So, I have been looking around for more information on adding a second HDD/SDD in my model of laptop computer on the web, but can't find anything on my specific model. Many places say K-series laptops have only one hard drive Bay, and that you use a hard drive caddy optical Bay. Moreover, I found videos of very similar models being dismantled, which seem to have only room for 1 hard drive. However, I was told to support twitter HP want all 17 have 2 hard drive slots. Can I get a confirmation, just to be sure?

    Hey @MrMdr,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your Notebook HP ENVY - 17 t - k200 CTO, model #K2Z68AV and concerns with the second span. Looking to 256 GB SATA m2 (MLC) that could be used for storage only. It is a hard drive, but it fits differently than the main hard drive. Hereis a link to your manual page 2 which shows the specifications.

It shows you how to install this on page 68 of the manual.

Please let me know how it goes.

  • ThinkPad series Hard Drive Bay adapter III as main hard drive?

    Hi all

my work laptop is a 400 T running on Win XP. I would like to start an installation of Windows 7 on a hard drive physical which is not possible with my employer in the near future.

My idea is now to have a second HD in the Hard Drive Bay adapter III series (let's say that the)

ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive of 320 GB at 7200 RPM) on which I'd install Win 7. I would then configure the adapter Bay to be the first HD to boot from. I would reconfigure the system to use the internal HD every time I need Win XP with the company of my other stuff.

I don't want to install Win 7 in another partition I want to take the risk of what going to the XP machine ;-)

The scenario described above is valid or I have to take account of anything else?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sascha

    saschabeltz, welcome to the forum,

as the States of cassio , you can boot from a hard drive in the Bay adapter. The best way to do it, after you install in the main Bay is to press F12 at startup; This will allow you to choose the device you want to boot from.

  • You can a second Sata hard drive in the M series?

    Hello

Can I install a second hard drive in the M series?

In particular, I would like to install a Seagate Barracuda SATA 1 TB drive.

I know he has a Bay, but I can shelter the disc in another case.

    Thank you

I think it depends on the version of the m series that you have.

the series m72e (small footprint); There is only a single 3.5 "sata bay.

on the motherboard there are 3 sata headers (cd player / hard drive + 1 other).

the way I did it was to order a double silverstone 2.5-online adapter disk 3,5 '' screwed into the slot of the drive (be careful; not all Player cards have lower fastening screws).

This allowed me to put a ssd 2.5 "and a 2.5 hard drive" in the case.

otherwise, it would be pretty tight/impossible to squeeze in 2 size 3.5 "hard drives in the m72e

  • Series Edge (E) internal second hard drive

I was wondering if users of portable Edge series or E are using / used a second internal drive?

Officially, their sales staff, in this series of laptops feature to replace the optical drive with a hard disk has been removed. Their tech staff said when I asked. There is no official Lenovo adapter for E series, but some are available spare parts. Is that what someone has successfully used a Lenovo HD adapter in their E series? What the aftermarket ones? What were your experiences?

Side note: I doubt that the feature has been removed. Optical and hard drives are same. Because it's an entry-level computer, it would cost more to remove the option rather than maintain and publicly asserting that it does not work.

I doubt that they will remove the possibility of using optical drive SATA for HDD device connector. There is also the slot m2 you can use a SSD NGFF. I used 3 internal hard drive on my ThinkPad E520 and E530.

  • HP Pavilion 9700 series - Hard Drive Compatibility

    Hello

I have a laptop HP Pavilion 9700 (dv9827cl) which has stopped working. I hit the power button and it turns off within 2 seconds.

This has happened before and I had to fix. He has worked almost a year and kaput.

I want to buy an another laptop HP Pavilion 9700 on eBay. Those without a hard disk, the boot up to bios, range from $200 or less. The hard drive in my old laptop works in any series HP Pavilion 9700? If this isn't an idea where I could find information about compatibility?

    Thank you!

As long as it is the same family of i.e. AMD or Intel processor, you will be OK. You may need to load a driver or two, but the hard drive of an AMD dv9700 will start in any other dv9700 AMD. It is not quite as sensitive as suggested above, but otherwise, the story would be that if you tried to put it in an Intel system or even a more recent or more old AMD system the essential thing which must be the same is the main chipset on the motherboard.

For completeness I want to clarify that in doing so technically violates the Microsoft EULA. Your OEM for Windows license is specific to the machine, with which it was delivered.

  • Adding a hard drive to a Pavilion 6000 series computer

My Pavilion p6210f computer blew a motherboard and I could not find a replacement card, so I bought refurbished HP computer. It seems the same, but the model number is simply: P6000 series. Hello Linda820, here is the link for information on how to remove the hard drive from the Pavilion p6210f.

Look at the bottom of the page for instructions on hard drive. It is a fairly simple process.

The only real "shove" the process is the system of lock at the bottom of the hard drive cage. You can see in the photo instructions.

Since you know exactly on the other HP model, it should be the same procedure to install the disk hard of the faulty system to the recently acquired system, or close to the same.

You must cable Sata of the old system, given that the other system probably does not have one, and you need to connect to the right of the current hard drve Sata port port.
