  Hi, I hope I'm posting in the right part of the forum. I just had to restart my computer after a virus & I now get 1935 error code, Code 643 & Code 8007000 b appears when I try to update.

  There are currently something like 100 updates of odd windows trying to download right now & that none will not charge.

  I don't know if this makes no sense.

  A small digression - when I try to update Java, the error message contains something about a connection "proxy" regarding the internet connection. I'll contact my ISP that do of course all is on their end.

  I don't have a great understanding of the side 'tech' of computers so I hope this is enough information. Thanks for any help you can give me :)

Here are the updates that I am trying to download - updated security for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (KB973593); Update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB973704); Update for the junk e-mail in Outlook 2007 (KB975960) filter; Update for Microsoft Office Word 2007 (KB974561).   Also, try the following steps (credit: Control_tps):

  1. go in programs and features, click on it.

  2. scroll to the bottom for Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client Profile, do a right click.

  3. we will give you a choice of uninstall/change, click it.

  4. then it will give a choice to repair, choose repair.  It will take about 4 to 10 minutes to repair (with my PC), your experience may vary.

  5. Once finished, go to your update and new Update Center.

  I am trying to install Windows XP Pro on an old hard drive from the laptop, beforehand I had it wiped, partitioned in two and made a NTFS format partition.

  Windows XP is not designed to be installed on an external hard disk... only an internal hard drive.  What you need to do is to buy an inexpensive netbook external optical drive so you can install Windows XP directly.  Here is an example: external optical drive

  Any attempt KB977304 installation. Install fails error 646, been round on Help FAQ sites and this is the second time that I have followed the links on this forum. Tried deleting download malicious malware it freezes also. Don't know what a manual download, but followed this link too and entered in the update #.  It will start and get to a point and everything freezes.   How you try to install Windows XP Home Edition?

  You may receive an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" in the following scenarios:

  (a) a device driver that your computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.

  (b) a device driver that needs your computer startup controller is damaged.

  (c) It can also occur if the hard drive in the BIOS configuration is bad.

  You can check if the SATA hard drive is correctly configured in the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) & can also update the BIOS. If you are not comfortable to do, you can contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

  Note: Changing the BIOS / chipset can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/chipset can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
