• Can I move my Windows on a new hard drive?

  Here's the situation:

  I currently have a pretty old IDE hard drive, and I'm looking to upgrade to a new motherboard that does not all IDE ports. So basically I'd copy my current hard drive (Windows and all) in a more recent SATA one?

  If not, is there something I could do to move all my stuff on a new hard drive, even if I have to buy a new copy of Windows?

  Look for a hard drive that suits. Note the manufacturer. Go to their website and download the software they provide for copying/cloning the old drive to the new. Use the new disk on your upgraded computer. You may need to do a telephone activation.

  Note that to do this and have an installation that can be enabled with the current number of product, your version of Windows Vista should be a commercial version and not an OEM version. OEM, those who come usually pre-installed on a PC, versions are valid only for the equipment on which they were originally installed.

  However, even if your original version was OEM, there are ways to proceed. Do the hardware upgrades. Install a new copy of details of the operating system of your choice. (This could be the opportunity to move to Windows 7 unless additional fees). Put your old drive in an external enclosure that accepts IDE (PATA) drives. Copy your files from the user on the newly targeted PC. You will need to install all the old applications.

  It's a pain in the underworld, but the performance improvements are generally well worth the effort.

  It seems that someone else must have asked this question at some point... but here it is again, because I can't find the answer! The old view of windows PS was exactly what I need. (the option for one or more views of the same file in different windows not floating, located in the menu bar of the Center. Mine is in 5.1). He is not here in PS CC (in view by default or any other that I can find, anyway.) I really need to have it so that I can view and compare several slightly different versions of work of a file side by side, one above the other, etc..   The app bar has been removed from cs6, but all the same stuff should be under window > arrange

  I never heard of 'one finger '; You can set to hang out with 'slide three fingers' in system preferences - > accessibility-> mouse and Trackpad-> Trackpad Options. Perhaps by comparing the settings that you have here and those in the system-> between your two Mac Trackpad preferences you can understand what is different.

  Or maybe you have a few add-on from third party that is installed on a mac, but not the other?

  Method 1:

  In Windows Explorer, open the folder Windows.old.

  Find the users folder and find the username that you used before. If you had a download folder, then take a look at it also. (Downloads\my Documents, my music, my pictures, my videos)

  Browse documents, photos, music files and other downloads you want to keep.

  Tranfer of files that you have decided to keep in a folder outside the Windows.old folder.

  When you are finished, you can delete the Windows.old folder to reclaim the space.  Don't forget and the trash and inspect the files there. Once you have completed your inspection of the files in the trash, which you can click Empty trash.

  Method 2: (if the old files are not important to you)

  Click the Windows Orb-> all programs-> click on Accessories-> system folder-> disk cleanup tools. Who calls a dialog window. 

  
  

  Select the drive which contains the .old top files and click OK.

  

  Once complete the system scan, check the box to clean up the system files at the bottom of the dialog window.

  

  In the next dialog that opens, select the drive that contains the .old on new files and click OK.

  Your operating system will do another scan and present you with another dialog box containing a list of checkboxes.

  See the list and select the one that says older versions of windows and click OK. Should allow you to find some drive capacity.

I looked in preferences, but cannot find a way to change this behavior.
