  iFiredog is correct. I don't have Windows Live Mail. I have 'Windows Mail'. This is the Version 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101 - 2205). I can't find the tool captures to take a screenshot. While I was looking for it, I came across an icon at the far right of them above my Windows Mail. It is a rectangle (or square?) anything other than straight lines, showing one after the other on the icon. I clicked it. Bingo-test - files in my Windows Mail reappeared on the left side of my Panel. So, the problem seems to be resolved, unless when I go back to Windows Mail, list of folders is part once again! I have no idea how I lost it.  As to move my viewing of Windows Mail to the right with the arrow (on each side of the screen), I had tried more than once. The arrow on the left side of my screen was not working. He has nothing. The arrow on the right side did expand the display area to include plenty of empty space, that I have on the right.   Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

  For messages:

  Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

  Location of OE message store:

  In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

  For addresses:

  Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

  Windows Mail does not highlight for bad luck or an AutoCorrect entry.
  Windows Live Mail will highlight with red, but not auto correct. It will show you the possible spelling on the spelling list.

  Either you empty your emails in MS Wpord then copy to Windows Mail, or install Windows Live Mail.
  Do not give up Windows Mail, they have to coexist, except that you must choose a default.
  Windows Live Mail will automatically copy evrything you have in Windows Mail when you have finished installing.

  Sorry, you experience this problem.  How long have you been experiencing this problem?  What anti-virus software are you running?  Did you change your operating system before this problem?  While in the Inbox, access the item menu view, current view.  Make sure "show all messages" is selected.

  Norton email scanner is perhaps the single biggest troublemaker known for Windows Mail.  If it is installed and running, you have a time bomb in front of you that could just off the coast.  A similar question in this forum found the missing e-mails in some form of Norton backup folder, and I don't know if they were accessible from there or not.

  No, you will NOT be at risk, analysis of electronic mail is a totally redundant process that does nothing but waste time and create problems.  The only way that attachments should be made by all e-mail clients before long resident file system monitor every last one of them until you can do something with them.  My suggestion is to uninstall Norton completely, download and run the Norton Removal Tool of the web Symantec site to clean debris, uninstaller fails to remove, and then reinstall Norton by using the Custom Installation option where you can stop the emails being installed analysis.

  I tried to delete the contents of my deleted file.  It indicates that it is elements in there that can not be deleted.  It has 160 items in the folder.  When I open the file there is not any content here.  I tried to delete it by deleting again, it will not always remove the folder.  The when I delete a new message and go look in the deleted file, nothing is there, but the number on outside of the folder of the increases.  Any help.

  You can try tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store the folder to find the location of the message store.
  Then move everything under this Windows Mail directory to another directory.
  Then, restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing in the database.
  You can then add your accounts and if they work properly, then you can use file | Import | Messages and choose the WinMail format and
  point to the directory to which you have moved the files.
