Inbox folders Windows Mail containing stored messages have disappeared

I received the alert message - "the message store was damaged by an external application in Windows Mail." - can someone help me please restore Inbox folders

Norton strikes again.  This is why we should never operate an email scanner.  Norton has developed a problem (who ALWAYS does) and ate your email.  How to get it back, it would be a question for the good folks at Symantec customer support.  If you can open these files backup and access to the. The EML files they originally contained, you can drag in Windows Mail folders to retrieve them.  In any case, you need to get rid of the Norton email scanner.  Uninstall Norton 360, download and run Symantec "Norton Removal Tool" to clean up all debris from the unistaller is unable to remove, and then reinstall Norton by using the custom installation choice where you choose do NOT install the enamel of crawl components.  Analysis of electronic mail is completely redundant, offers zero protection, delayed, and, as you can see, has a habit of creating considerable difficulties where none would otherwise exist.  You are fully protected against anything and everything available by e-mail you provided scanner file resident of keeep Norton update.  Symantec email scanners have proved be the largest source of unique disorder exists for Windows Mail.

    Hello Neilyjim,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Sorry, you experience this problem.  How long have you been experiencing this problem?  What anti-virus software are you running?  Did you change your operating system before this problem?  While in the Inbox, access the item menu view, current view.  Make sure "show all messages" is selected.

Norton email scanner is perhaps the single biggest troublemaker known for Windows Mail.  If it is installed and running, you have a time bomb in front of you that could just off the coast.  A similar question in this forum found the missing e-mails in some form of Norton backup folder, and I don't know if they were accessible from there or not.

No, you will NOT be at risk, analysis of electronic mail is a totally redundant process that does nothing but waste time and create problems.  The only way that attachments should be made by all e-mail clients before long resident file system monitor every last one of them until you can do something with them.  My suggestion is to uninstall Norton completely, download and run the Norton Removal Tool of the web Symantec site to clean debris, uninstaller fails to remove, and then reinstall Norton by using the Custom Installation option where you can stop the emails being installed analysis.

All of a sudden, I started getting double e-mails. I am running Vista and using windows mail. Does anyone have a solution?

Usually, it is because the two copies of the account are set up.  Go to tools | Accounts | Mail and see if there is more than one copy of the account.  If not, then try to compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/) and analysis of e-mail what to do is not enable in your anti-virus software (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).  If this does not resolve things, try to delete your account, close and reopen WinMail and then add the account back again.

A user to our small business reports that she one day noticed that the contents of its files to Outlook Express disappeared.  Records are intact, but the messages have disappeared.  Strangely, what happened to half of its files; the content in the other half is still there.

    She uses Outlook Express 6.

In addition to comments of Bruce, likely OE compacted messages and in doing so, he probably wiped out the where they are absent.  Check your Inbox and message store bak files which are backups dbx files prior to compaction (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2).  If you cannot find the bak files, then you will probably use the extract of the service drive of my DBXpress program (see www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/).

Usually, but not necessarily always, this problem has to do with your Intrenet Explorer or your main browser with NOT all its faults.

Open start > default programs > set your default programs > column on the left, click on Internet Explorer or your main browser...
He said "this program has all its defaults"?
If not, click on choose by default for this program > put on check all entries in the list > OK when finished.

  • Windows Mail works, but I have two error messages: can you please help?

"Account: 'Windows Mail', server: POP.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, server Respons', Port 995, secure (SSL)", Yes. " Error number ' 00x800CC18. Also "the connection to the server has failed.  Account: 'pop.charter.net', server: 'pop.charter.net', Protocole3, Port 110, secure (SSL): no, Socket error: 10060, error number: 0x800CCOE

If the AT & T account is closed, go to tools | Accounts and remove the account completely. Send a test message and see if it works. If it is not the case, there should be an error relating to the Charter, and it probably means that there is just a mistake in the account settings.

  • Problems to access emails due to the area of security of Windows and all the emails have disappeared from the Inbox

I have a HP with Windows Vista computer.  For the last few days whenever I try to access my email using Windows Mail, a Windows security box appears you request for my user name and password that are not accepted when I type in and to "allow" with a lock symbol appears low to the right of the screen, where "incoming mail" would normally appear. I get the occasional batch of e-mails through but only once per day.  Two days ago, all of my original emails (about 1,000) have disappeared from my Inbox.  I rang my phone co co/email, microsoft and the manufacturers of my coomputer, but everyone tells me problem of is the other company.  Meanwhile, I am really concerned about all the emails that I lost.  Can anyone suggest how to get rid of this security box and restore all my lost emails?  Help!

    Hello

    1. Since when are you facing this problem?

2 did you changes to Windows Mail settings?

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1:  Windows message store can be damaged or corrupted.  You can try to rebuild the message store.

Note: Follow the method 1 first, which is mentioned in the link above.  If rebuilding the message store does not help, follow method 2 to rebuild the Windows Mail folder.

Method 2: Solve problems with Windows Mail

  • Windows mail sends no message and said and was error if I try to delete

My Windows mail client, version 6, stopped sending messages that remain in the Outbox.  If I try to delete the message, it indicates an error has occurred and suggest that to consult the community.  Any ideas?

Thank you. Installation of service pack 1 seems to have done the trick.  We have a second device also running Vista Home Premiun with service Pack 3, which has a similar problem - this time the email get sent, but a copy is left in the Outbox.  In addition, if windows mail is asked to run just after the start, it fails.  During my recent attempt error 0x800CCC0F were reported.  A new attempt normally succeeds.

The hotfix download, KB951090, suggested in a response to a similar problem I used also failed on the other computer.  I'll try the tool suggested to see if it works.  Benachie7

  • E-mail is endangered from Inbox in windows mail (Vista)

I'm using windows mail in Vista 64 - bit OS. This problem just started tonight. I have looked at several online forums and that you can't find a useful answer. I looked in SIGHT, and notes that "show all messages" is checked. What else can I try?

What type of account is it? POP3? IMAP?

You cannot reinstall WinMail because is part of Vista, but you can do it and this is my first suggestion.

Try to compact and repair the database.

If you haven't been back up your messages, you can do that first.

  • corrupted Windows mail store error message, cannot delete messages

Windows Mail has been send me errors when I first open it and now will not let me delete some messages...

It is said that he is recovering from... then a box pops up saying that the message store was damaged by an external application to Windows Mail. Windows mail has been able to recover from this corruption (0 x 0000000).

But then it will give an error indicating that it does not find my e-mail server or it will download my new messages, including those that I already deleted. There are a few messages that it won't let me even to delete at all.

The problem is due to the database.  First see if you can understand what 3rd party program is the culprit.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 and get rid of your antivirus software and get something more compatible with WinMail such as www.microsoft.com/security_essentials (and under its settings disable the eml file type are analyzed).  Then delete your e-mail account in WinMail.   (it's a good idea to save what messages you have - see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm).  Then compact and repair the Windows Mail database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/) then add your account mail back with the appropriate settings.  See if it works then.
