Movie Maker does not play my video and help convert to DVD format.

I just started using Movie Maker.  I have a few movies made and published to my computer, and they played wonderfully.  I have two questions.  When I return to movie maker and open the file to make a few adjustments different edition of the film will not play.  I've tried everything.  My calendar of film is clearly visible, but nothing makes the reading of the full video in movie maker.  When I go back to recorded versions on my videos that I have no problem playing the video.  What Miss me.  I want to make a minor revision to my film but can't do play in movie maker.

Second question - I have only the ability to record on a cd on my computer at home.  I have saved movies on a CD and downloaded on my work computer that has Roxio and a DVD burner.  It seems that I have correctly recorded on my work computer to a DVD-R disc, and it appears that when he plays on my computer from the disk, however, when I try to play on a DVD player it displays an error and will not play.  Roxio gives me the opportunity to record in different formats for compatibility (old DVD to Blueray players) and I tried both without success.  Any ideas.

Thanks for your help!

What version of Windows are you using?
(you are in a forum XP but refers generally to publish)
for Vista)

What version of Movie Maker are you running?

What is the format of your backed up files in Movie Maker?
. MSWMM? .wmv?

For a re-edition, you need the project .mswmm file
and all your source files must be in the original
places where you can see red Xs in Movie Maker
Collections pane. If you see the red Xs you can
in a right click of the Xs and get access to the
current location of the source files and restore
the path.

  • Sometimes the clips in Windows Movie Maker will not play during preview and not at all after publication...

Hello!  I just create a movie using Windows Movie Maker (HP Pavilion dv6000/Windows Vista Home Premium).  During the PREVIEW, the first part of the video of my film sometimes will not play (view) while the audio continues. Sometimes he will play (view).  All clips are saved in the right place, the file formats are correct, and everything else that I think is done correctly.  In addition, after the publication of the video, he did the same thing; some parts of the beginning is not playing (see) only the audio.  I believe that this can have started happening after a few times when an error message pops up saying something like "Video player has stopped responding, but has revived with success...» "or something like that.

Now, I tried a few things to try to fix the problem.  I noticed that if I take the transitions and effects on the clips then they play but every time. I don't know why this happens only at the beginning of the movie and not all of the film since I also have clips with transitions and effects in the end.  Help!  This is my first time using this program/do a movie (and it's really good if I must say for me... he can win an Oscar! * smile *), but I wonder if I did something by mistake at the origin of this problem...

  • My Windows Movie Maker will not publish my video! Help!

Whenever I try and publish my video, about 19% through, it will say "Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. • Windows Live Movie Maker is not recognizing my video files

  • Movie Maker: Does not work! A similar program: will not play!

    Greetings from Microsoft professionals!

So I just got me a new computer HP desktop with XP and everything works fantastic with the exception of Windows Movie Maker. I use it on a regualr basis to create 2d animation frame-by-frame and it is important that I have functional. Unfortunately, when I open it, it is quick to give me a window "has encountered a problem / needs to close." The debug option is useless. What is really strange is that I managed to get a very similar program called "Camtasia. This program works, although it will not play videos, even his own tutorials! Audio, however, works very well. I find as strange as Media Player plays video smoothly, seems to work on the same basis as the viewers of other programs...?

Things that I've tried, from other responses on blogs, etc. :

    -Reinstall Movie maker

-Uninstalling Movie maker (it says it cannot)

-Apparently essential codec packs, one at a time, uninstall the last to avoid "clash".

    -Installation of DIVX

    -Remove, reinstall Adobe Flash player

    -Updated Windows service pack 3

-Updated ActiveX (including suggested Internet security 'custom settings' to allow ActiveX to do his stuff by choosing prompting options

    instead of being completely disabled

-Ask my technical friends, suggesting a codec problem.

I've been at this for eight hours, and this is my last ditch in order to understand this. Help, please!
