MSCOMCTL. Error dependence OCX trying to install FLAC frontend

I get the following error message when you try to install the frontend FLAC on Windows 7 (64-bit):

Component 'MSCOMCTL. OCX' or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

If the file exists in Windows 7 and how to replace / fix? This is a new install of 7, so I'm quite angry if it gets corrupted somehow already.

It is a long story so I will not try to recreate it here.

Summary:

-MSCOMCTL. OCX is a set of commands of 32 bits provided with the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 programming environment
-FLAC frontend is written in Visual Basic 6.0 (apparently, I don't use the FLAC)
D ' use controls of 32 bits as MSCOMCTL. OCX on the 64 bit version of Windows 7, they must be installed and registered in: C:\Windows\SysWOW64 to run in the emulation environment "WOW [Windows Windows]".
-On my Windows 7 64-bit installation, I found MSCOMCTL. OCX already present in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory, I don't know if its there by default or if I installed something that was placed there for me.

-If you go to your C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory and see MSCOMCTL. OCX already in it then try this:

Access your shortcut to command prompt via start all programs accessories command prompt-->-->-->. Right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.  Click Yes to say UAC you really want to run it.

When the black window opens with your command prompt, type this in:

CD C:\Windows\SysWOW64

The command prompt should change to: C:\Windows\SysWOW64

Then type:

regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx

If you get a window that appears and says "DllRegisterServer in successful mscomctl.ocx" then click OK and try frontend install again.

---

If you see NO MSCOMCTL. OCX in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 already, then you must he get there, save it and then install frontend.  It is the longest part of the story that I suggest you look here http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=52353&st=0 for more information because many have had your problem.

Read through these posts that talk about what people have done to get the mscomctl.ocx file, and how they did run on Windows 64-bit (Vista in most of the examples, but should be similar to 7).

You could also look for a different interface to FLAC which is not written in Visual Basic 6.0 and works with Windows 7 x 64.

    1. are you able to install other applications successfully?

According to my research, this error message appears if you have traces of a previous installation of the AVG software.

Download the AVG remover to remove the previous version and then try the installation again and check.

    Johnny,

This fix is a little strange, but it works.  There is a patch of mshelper.de which I think is the Denmark.  In any case, the solution is in Danish or in another language.

    The link is:

    http://download.mshelper.de/mshregs/winUpdRestore! v27.exe

When you open click on the button marked "be."
    Then click on Installieren

A screen gray pop up, begin to reset all the settings of windows update.

At the end a green screen comes press the letter 'J', and then press ENTER.  It's asking you if you want to open the windows updates.  I always say yes/Ja.

As I said this is a weird solution but it worked every time I've never used it.

Let me know if it works for you
