MSINWINPC - FBW files and restore, backup Dec 2009 concerns, concerns given PC June 2011

Dear Sir/Madam,

I did a back up of my data in December 2009 and I was wondering what is happening during a restore because I read that FWB is an extension for the backup file that is created. It compresses all the saved data and it incorporates in a single file so that it develops the files when performing a restore.

What happened to my computer from my backup, it's that I had to install the Windows Vista Service Pack 2, which has consistently failed. To cut to the Chase, I contacted HP and everything they suggested the partition of hard drive HP factory reset factory reset, does not work properly and therefore all erased my disk hard but does restore all apps doing so my computer a brick. But since then, I contact Microsoft who kindly helped me with my cmputer and it is now working very well. (Thanks a lot).

In any case, since the restore will be expanded I have 3 fear and would like advice on how I should go about restoring:

1. the data amounts to 35.8 GB is currently on my external hard drive and free space on my drive hard is only 38 GB. If the files are all developed the 35.8 GB of data will take over 38GB?

2. If I wanted to restore only certain files (I have a master's thesis I want to find and restore), copy the data to a file on my C drive before using the backup and Restore Center on my computer to find the file and restore?

3. I'm worried that the old files that are saved can conflict with existing files I have been restoring my computer (like copying and pasting a file with the same name). I have to worry about this at all if I had to restore my backup data?

Thank you

Hi Densebrains

Yes, the files get expanded after a restore of the backup is performed and the free space, you mentioned not be enough to restore the backup. When restoring files is performed on the computer disk files with the same name are replaced and you will get a prompt notifying replace it taking place.

  • 0x8007001b with Vista Home Premium Center backup and restore backup failure

I have my Toshiba Satellite M205-S7452 with Vista Home Premium for about 8 months, and November 2007, backup windows, and restore program worked flawlessly. I was able to back up my music, photos and documents to a DVD on a regular basis. But then I started having an error halfway back up that says "drive cannot find the sector requested" with the 0x8007001b error code. It seems that the backup works partially - there are files on the DVD player but I don't know if it ends or not. I tried to do some research on Google and it seems that there is other people affected by this error, but I could not find suggested patches.

    Hi jennielah,

Please use the Forum of the community for Vista.

If it has started, use the system restore back to a point before you start. See below for instructions.

If you can do that I have a work around you. Your specific error seems to relate to update failures, not only the Windows updates but the various failures of update.

The job is to save it to your hard drive and copy the files on the DVD after the fact.

    I hope this helps.

    The System Restore tool

Other troubleshooting methods, such as using the System File Checker tool, cannot solve the problem. If they do not resolve the problem, and the problem you are experiencing started occurring recently, you can use the System Restore tool. Using this tool, you can restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. The System Restore tool uses points of restore to return the system files and settings to an earlier point in time. You can use it to restore the operating system to a point in time where you have not experienced the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start , type system restore in the Search box, and then click System Restore in the programs list.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue .

    1. In the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore point , and then click Next .

    2. In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next .

    3. Click Finish .

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

    Hi ChicagoExPat,

Make sure that the disks are writable, which means that you can add, remove, or modify the content. If you decide to use this method and have a lot of files to backup, be sure to have enough disks to complete the job. The back up files Wizard you indicates how much space you need whenever you perform a backup and recommends the type of media to use.

  • can not find restored files after restoring backup hard drive

I had a problem with my computer so I reset my PC back to factory setting. Before doing anything, I backed up all my documents/pictures in an external hard drive.

After successfully resetting my PC to factory setting, I ran restore backup files... I took me 4 hours to restore. Restore files has been a success.

When I restart my PC, I couldn't find anything my back upwards. I don't know that there have been restored as I have only 50 G to 200G left of my C drive.

I tried to look for documents, but I can't find anything.

  • Windows Backup and Restore, backup failure, 0x8078002A__

New computer e5410 dell laptop with windows 7, drives external usb different two (backup), the two iomega, different models.

When I run backup on windows machine 7, backup takes place up to the ~ 60% complete then omits to say 'backup did not complete', even failure for the two usb drives.

I look at the info screen on. He gets in the "system image" and then fails. Failures are consistent with 57-60% when the failure occurred, in the three times I was able to watch it, it always happens when "creating system image" appears on info.

I tried both drives usb on windows machine 7 and both fail. Tried both drives on windows xp computers (2), and both work.

IMHO, it's a problem of windows 7 but I have been wrong before. I am far from a guy from the computer if the specifications are welcome.

    Hi John,.

    To answer your question:

I got about 50 systems on the network. They are on a domain, and I have a mix of Win 7 and 8.1.

Win7 systems seem to be the problem.

    The Solution I found pending...

The share for each user folder must be created by the system of the user in question. This sets the special folder permissions. (Originally, all sharing of backup folders had created by the domain administrator... It did not work. ) Once the user has created the folder in the sharing and the backup configuration has been created, and the domain administrator credentials are defined. The backups worked perfectly.

If another error occurs at this point, I ran a chkdsk /f on the system and after that no problem remains.

All backups are now working properly.

  • VMware CBT (tracking changes block): ctk files and multiple backup systems?

    Hello

We have 2 datarecovery running backups of the SAME virtual machines, but on the other day.

Later, we will have a dedicated backup solution, so we will use only 1 VDR + external backup system.

The external backup system use CBT too.

Now my question is: how CBT done when several backup systems require "that is the last blocks changed since the last backup?

I mean if I run Sunday, on the same VDR2, VMs and VDR1 Saturday to VDR2 always have only the changed blocks from Saturday to Sunday and the blocks changed the week lack? !!!

Could someone provide me a technique explaining the depth of the CBT mechanism?

    Thank you

Yes, once a block is modified the corresponding location in the mapping file is labeled with the new changeID.

  • Why can I not see the files I back up by using the backup and restore of Vista

Can someone help me?  I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and implemented backup and restore feature Vista so that every Sunday he automatically backs up my computer to my external drive.  I was on the computer when he said it starts up and that upward was completed successfully.  I assummed everything was fine until today when I show my father my drive external and noticed that none of the backup of files were there... or at least I did not see them.  The only files on the disk were the ones I put manually on here from my old computer.  I then ran a manual upward using Vista and again it says backup successfully completed.  I then watched the external hard drive and once again no new files.  The strange thing is the back up and restore program shows all the dates he has saved and also allows me to restore files from the back to the top.  To do this, I deleted a file I didn't really need out of my hard drive and then is gone to restore program and found the file and restored.  Problem is that the program does not say where he makes the file from.  What is going on?  Are backup files of certain types of hidden file I don't see unless I use the backup and restore program under vista?  I am currently running Vista Home Premium on a 32 bit system and the external hard drive I have is a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition.

Windows backup is stored in a folder with the same name as your computer.  Open a command prompt and type echo %ComputerName% or startup, right-click on computer, properties.  You should see that % ComputerName % folder on your external drive, and in this context, a backup set. • Windows 7 backup and restore recording is not recent files (and task corrupted images)

I recently discovered that my Windows 7 backup and restore does not work properly and need help to fix it.  The backup runs daily, but it seems that he spared not the files that have been generated in the last month or so.  For example, I was not able to restore files that have been created last week, even if they have been backed up yesterday.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query to the Microsoft forum. I will definitely help you with this.

This could be due to corruption on the system files, please follow the methods below.

Step 1: I suggest you to re-create the Task Scheduler.

Steps to re-create the Task Scheduler

    1. Click Start; in the start search type regedit.exe and press ENTER. (If you get a consent prompt, click Yes).
    2. Navigate to the following location. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Schedule keys and remove its subkeys.
    3. Save the changes and then close the registry editor.

Now check if the Task Scheduler works.

Note: The steps mentioned below includes the modification of the system registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Step 2: Perform the scan SFC

I suggest that you can exercise SFC scan and check if that helps. The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions. It is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files.

See the link: use the File Checker system to repair missing or corrupted system files

Please answer us with this information and the current state of your computer, we will be happy to help you further.
