  How to change when I am asked to insert the CD-ROM for Microsoft Works 9.0 for the updates to take place?   1 is Microsoft Works and you will prompt to install the update or you are trying to install it via Windows updates?

  As the message is asking you to insert the CD of Microsoft Works 9.0, you will need to insert the right disk to install the update. As the computer came with all already installed software, the best option would be to contact the manufacturer of the system that has installed all the software on the computer.

  In the meantime, try the following steps and check the result.

  I had a Windows Update for the latest month - updating security for Microsoft Works 9 (KB2431831).  During the installation of this update attempt, he asked the installation disc.  Microsoft Works has been pre-loaded onto my desktop Dell computer. So, I don't have the installation disc required to remove this update.  I spoke with Microsoft - they tried to erase without the disc without success.  I called Dell who won't work on the question, because it is now out of warranty.  All ideas except to the ignore the windows of each update works?   I know that's probably not useful to most of you, but I had the same problem and do not think that I had any disc that came with my Dell.  I looked around and found that the original package provided with the Dell XPS has a marked disk Microsoft Works 9.  Insert this disc and run the update succeeded.  So maybe check around to see if you have lying around somewhere...

  2. You receive an error message and the failure of the update?
  3. You are able to install some other updates on the computer?

  I suggest you cross check if you have Microsoft works installed on the computer, open programs and features in Control Panel.

  Most of the manufacturer computer ship Microsoft works with computers.

  If find you works by Microsoft installed on your computer and you are able to install all other updates of Windows on the computer then I would suggest you contact technical support for Microsoft works.

  I tried to do an update for microsoft works and it always fails.  I just bought this computer in March and it has windows 7 on it.  I get the following error message: the component that you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or another removable disk that is not available.  Insert the disc of microsoft works, and then click ok.

  I watched all the cd that I got when I bought this brand new computer, but I don't see one that says Microsoft Works on it.  Anyone know what I can do to fix this?
