My 1 t C: drive is full?
I just noticed today that the C: drive of the computer is in the red. I spent a good few hours former unistalling programs, helps online leafing, disabling put into hibernation, disabling the system restore, or anything like that, and I'm only 48.4 free 919 GB. :
I'm not very computer saavy. I get apps and other things take a lot of place, but I do not yet use them. I don't like the inface app, or the home screen. I want to really just some instructions step by step for all things safe, that I can do to free up space on my poor computer...

Hi Samhunny,
You did a good cleaning, for sure.
Please see here. This site also contains links to additional tools on the removal of unnecessary files. The referenced tools will scan your HARD drive and isolate data usage.
You download a lot of files? You can clean your download folder.
Piriform CCleaner free download, install and run the vacuum cleaner. This program will clean internet temporary files and other unnecessary files.
It takes a lot of data to consume almost 1 TB of storage. Check the size of your user, C:\Users\ "your user name" folder Right-click and select "Properties". Using one of the programs of analysis given by the link above should tell you where and what's available HARD drive storage consumption.

Satellite M200 Vista shows that the HARD drive is full of 98%
This problem showed about 2 months ago the system started running slowly and after a bit of research, I went to computer and found he showed that the HARD drive was full of 98%. Then I went and disabled the feature of shadow copy that reached about 3 Gig. After that, the performance was still hurt, so I decided to do a system restore. All reformatted once was good again until a week ago, and the same problem came back once again.
This laptop is running Vista Home Premium SP1, 120 Gig drive HARD, Kaspersky Anti-virus, it has very limited connection to the Net, as it is mainly used to store and transfer music on an Ipod (20 GB of music).
Any thoughts? Maybe a hardware failure?
Thanks in advance.
Craig.
Hardware failure is very likely, since you are clearly able to access your hard disk without problem.
Looks like you are using software that could be gradually fill the hard drive with data, such as a log file, it is difficult to say.
With the erosion of the space, you might want to periodically check each folder in drive C (right click, properties) and see how it changes for each new session. Also clean the temporary files would help such as for:
"c:\temp".
"c:\windows\temp".
"%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp.
erase internet files of Internet Explorer cache / temporary
deactivation and reactivation then "System Restore" (do this only if you are satisfied with Vista is running stable)Richard S.

The boot on my iMac drive is full for the docking station does not,.
My boot drive is full, so will not show the dock, I can't see the files to delete and make more space. Safari works well, and the files on the drop down menu Apple I have opened recently, always open, so I don't think that the iMac is broken - full. How can I get files to delete and make more room?
Start safe mode and delete or move files and applications is no longer, you need or use ff of the drive up you jave enough space. DO NOT delete system files or you could end up with a very unstable system. You can move large libraries like your music, pictures and videos on an external drive.

My laptop has 2 dual processor x 75 GB. Tried to move the files to the E drive but they double and are difficult to locate. Life should be easier than this! C drive is nearly full, E drive uses only 30%. What happens when the C drive is full?
[Moved from comments]
Simple!
You get a BIGGER hard drive.
The 'norm' for laptops these days is at least 500 GIGs.
Which is the same amount that I have in my table.
2 x 250 GB.
I have XP Pro on one single, Windows 7, on the other. (And each of them uses ONLY about HALF of these hard drives!)
In a month or two, I'll upgrade to 2 x 1 terabyte hard drives. sounds a little one 'kill too much', I know, but hey, my computer IS able to be updated that he got so far it?
Yours is in need of an upgrade too, suggest that there is, to solve your problem!

Try a new Folder.dbx file. Reboot when finished. In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View. The path to the message will be very similar to this:C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook ExpressWith OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.Note these possible side effects:When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited. If this does not work, view the error enrire that you see. Two of them. -

I know you didn't want to scream... Not to be too critical, but it really looks like you need a new 'computer' man as it is inexcusable to erase data files when you install a new operating system, especially if it does not create a backup disk or files. Having to reinstall programs is normal, but the data must never be lost. You apparently have different issues that might be related to malicious software and drivers a bad or hardware problems for your computer. I recommend that you take a small reputation of the computer "mom & pop" type computer store to have your repairs. Big box stores, such as Staples, Best Buy, etc. are NOT reputable in computer repair. Take installation discs you have for the computer, and a good description of what is happening. -
