  • Accidentally deleted Windows 98 when trying to reinstall XP Pro upgrade.

I wanted just a fresh reinstall of XP Pro, so please help me with my specific problem if you can.  I was using my version of XP Pro to re-intall upgrade.  Instructions for reinstalling confused me and I inadvertently selected an option that has removed the original 98 OS during installation process.  Given that my copy of XP Pro, is to install an upgrade not a complete new OS, I can't proceed because my 98 files are gone: (...) (but perhaps not fatal?)  I stopped the process as soon as I realized that the option I chose was probably not the right, but it seems that it was too late.  Using my XP Pro upgrade cd installation could not proceed when I tried again because the original 98 OS files are now missing. :(

I got this computer set up with a legitimate 98 and XP Pro upgrade for several years.  I can't find my original of 98 (I can't find it in stock and gives me an injury so I can't dig for it, also, it could be anywhere).  So the problem is this: I need to restore my 98 operation system somehow somehow (without my cd), so I can use my XP Pro updated to get back to where I was, a work computer XP Pro.  That's all.

Is it possible to do, either by MS support (I was registered through Windows Genuine Advantage or just what it's called so I guess they can check that my BONES were and are indeed legitimate) or can they help me with another installation of 98 so I can re - install usimg my upgrade back to XP Pro? Or another solution? Somehow to restore the deleted files? Please note: I can not afford to buy anything right now, I am out of work right now, so thank you very much in advance for any suggestions and the reasons to buy Windows 7 or buy something else, but these solutions are NOT viable for me right now, but thank you again if you were going to think that.  What I really need help's suggestions as to what can be done to help me get my current system facing up and running using what I have on the spot.

I appreciate sincerely any help you can offer!

  • How can I use my HP OEM W98 cd "System Recovery" on a new processor & hardrive (not HP) so that I can have W98 to use my most later bought XP Pro upgrade cd?

I bought a HP with W98 OEM desktop computer installed about 10 years ago. Then about 5 years ago my company offers an XP Pro upgrade for a good price. When I upgraded, first of all, I reformatted the drive, but then XP would be not be installed because it could not find existing W98.  So I reinstalled W98 using the HP cd "HP System Recovery" & "HP Application Recovery", then with the XP Pro upgrade.  Question: I want to build a new computer for faster components (case, CPU, motherboard, hard drive) 10 years old HP processor is suffocating under the weight of applications & today virus scanners.  On a new cpu & hard drive, I can use the "HP System Recovery' (&"Application recovery"if necessary) to repeat the process to get W98 installation so that I can then proceed to Windows XP Pro?  Or is the only "HP System Recovery" will install on a card mother HP and W98 vintage cpu?  I just can't justify rebuying the entire operating system again and I like XP Pro, but I need new hardware CPU and more/more fast disk drive.

    Hi BuyOnceUpgradeOften,

Thanks for posting. As you said, you will need to install the 98 upgrade for XP. As for the installation of 98 on another machine, it may or may not work. You will need to contact HP and see if this is or is not against the terms of the EULA, they you provided, and if you can or can not install it on another machine.

  • How to upgrade Acrobat 7.0 Pro 7.1?

I have been using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro for many years without any problem, but yesterday, I ran out of memory when I tried to open a large PDF file.  The tech support guy Acrobat told me that 2 GB of RAM, that's enough, then I tried to upgrade and upgrade from Acrobat Pro 7.0, 7.1 and it seemed to work.  But when I rebooted to complete updates, I could see that Acrobat 7.0 had never changed to 7.1.

    So, what's the problem?

How can I upgrade Acrobat 7.1?

In fact, you're chance that Acrobat 7 works at all under Windows 7. The ability to print to the Adobe PDF printer to create PDF requires at least Acrobat 8.1 works properly under any version of Windows beyond XP.

In terms of memory, Acrobat is a 32-bit application and thus cannot use more than one space address 2 GB. Add more memory (assuming you are running Windows 7 64-bit) can help overall performance on your system, but it does not a bit of difference in terms of managing the memory of Acrobat.

7.1 upgrade failure may just be because of his inability to properly install the Adobe PDF printer for you.

Can not help you more as Acrobat 7.x is known to be incompatible with Windows 7. Sorry!

I just paid my $19.95 / month to subscribe to acrobat pro - now its asking me a serial number.  where can I find it?

Software subscription has no need for a serial number; you sign in with your Adobe ID

Note, however, that it may take some time until your subscription is activated; Use the test mode until there.

  • How to upgrade ACROBAT PRO 8.0 in Spanish to a newer version of work on W7?

need to know how to upgrade ACROBAT PRO 8.0 in Spanish a later version to work on Windows 7. The ADOBE support page has a collection of updates, but none for ACROBAT PROFESSIONAL 8.0

Updates may be what it takes (I think that most have found it necessary for Win7). Normally, you'd updates for Acrobat to help > updates (may be in Spanish for you). It's the best way, as long as it works. Sometimes you have to start over because server clogging sometimes from what I hear.

The other alternative is to install the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. Updates must be made in order, although some can be ignored. It is best to start with the last update and download back to the oldest update. Each update will tell you what update is needed before, allowing you to jump a little. Generally, you don't have to restart until all updates are performed, save a quite some time.

  • I am trying to reload on the computer product upgraded Acrobat isn't a choice

Our Department has received new computers today and I am trying to reload the Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on my new system.  When I get to the upgrade serial number, the product is not a selection in the menu.   I got a code challenge as well.

your acrobat xi is probably an upgrade from a previous version.

If it's true, after you have entered your serial number xi acrobat, you are prompted to select the qualification (that is to say, previous) version.  After you select the previous version in the drop-down list, you will be asked for the serial number of the previous version.

Enter the correct number at the right time and proceed with the installation.

  • Can I use my Win 7 Pro Upgrade to upgrade my laptop running Win 7 Home?

I bought the Windows 7 Pro upgrade before realizing that I had bought the wrong upgrade to what I had on my computer. I ended up having to buy a Win 7 Home, then update to Win 7 Ultimate, so I could keep all my programs in tact. Now, I'm about to get a laptop. If the laptop has Windows 7 Home installed, can I use my Win 7 Pro upgrade for the version of Win 7 Home upgrade? If not, what version on the laptop do I need if I can use my already purchased Win 7 Pro Upgrade? There is no other computer autour who can't use my upgrade, it seems, because I ordered the version of 64-bit operating system, so I guess that laptop must have an operating system 64-bit as well.

Anytime Upgrade using year already bought Retail Pro/Ultimate key

In Windows 7 Home Premium, type Anytime Upgrade in search programs and files box on the start menu, and then click the Windows Anytime Upgrade.  From there, you can enter your product key of Windows 7 Professional/ultimate retail and perform a simple upgrade. All programs and files will remain on the computer, there is no drive necessary and it takes about 10 minutes.

  • Windows 7 Pro upgrade for reuse

My last computer was shipped with Vista Home Premium. I bought Windows 7 Pro update for this computer. The death of this machine, I bought another HP with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. I reused my disc of Windows 7 Pro upgrade successfully. I have Windows 7 recovery discs that were created before the installation of Windows 7 Pro upgrade. Now, I pre-ordered Windows 8 Pro. When it happens, I would use my Windows 7 recovery discs (Home Premium) to bring the machine to its original state, and then install Windows 8 Pro Upgrade. Then I would use the disc of Windows 7 Pro upgrade to upgrade to another computer that is running Windows 7 Home Premium. Will there be problems reusing this disc again?

    Hi flnettles,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

If it is a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own XP/Vista license qualification). The previous installation of Windows 7 on the old computer must be in the format / deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer. The key works with 32 and 64 bit, but can only be installed at a time.

If it is licensed OEM - No.
OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

Call Microsoft use the manual phone Activation

If you have trouble activating Windows 7 you can call Microsoft to activate it by following these steps:
    1. with the operation of Windows, click Start, then in the search box type: slui.exe 4
    2. press enter on your keyboard
    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the telephone activation option, then dial the given number and hold for a real person.

  • Windows 8 pro upgrade - question about relocation

I am running Windows 8 (Standard Edition) - it came preinstalled on my computer, and thus the product key is stored on my BIOS.

I would like to be running Windows 8 Pro. However before I have to spend $200, I want to know exactly how the upgrade system - the rest of the internet is very clear on that. I have the following questions:

    (1) if I buy an upgrade Windows 8 Pro on the Microsoft Store (search > add features > purchase online product key), and then later I want to do a clean reinstall Windows pro 8, if I can install Windows 8 Pro or what I need to install Windows 8 and then go again?

    (2) if I have to upgrade again can I use the option 'I already have a product key' in 'Add features' and use the product key that I bought?

    (3) if I go out to a retailer and buy Windows 8 Pro and do a clean install, it will install in Windows 8 Pro or I have to use "add features"? If I have to use 'Add features', will be the product key that comes with my Windows 8 Pro that I bought work detailing if I select "I already have a product key?

    (4) if I want to upgrade to Windows Pro 8.1 in what order should I upgrade? Is - this Windows 8 > Windows 8 Pro > Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8 > 8.1 Windows > Windows Pro 8.1? (Please do not link me to the FAQ section, I've been there and that you can't find the answer. If you wish to make a reply in this section it otherwise I'll have to ask you to clarify rephrase please.)

    (5) is there a way I can save windows 8.1/Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade files so that I don't have to download again if I clean install my OS? If so, how do I.

    1. You need to install Windows 8 and upgrade to Pro again.
    2. Yes, you can of course. This code will work for you for ever. Just keep it somewhere safe (I keep all my OneNote product keys, but you can also store them as text files OneDrive or another course).
    3. The complete packaging product key will work as well.
    4. You cannot jump directly from Windows 8 > Windows Pro 8.1.  You would have either A) download the 8.1 update before you type the key Pro 8.1 or B) to obtain a Pro 8.0 and use it, then go to 8.1.
    5. There is really no files actually.  Each version of Windows has everything, the code is that it unlocks for use.  What is new, starting with Vista, this is why the "features add to Windows ' (formerly 'AnyTime Upgrade' is here.

But you could always take your computer, update / update to 8.1 Pro you have, then do a system image backup, so you can always go to immediately exactly hassle-free.  Bonus, this backup can even include all of your installed programs, settings and customization.

Try temporarily disabling your Antivirus utility and try again.

Go to the order summary page, you can find your product key:
