  Yes the BIOS will be no problem. The 750 GB drive will function as a treat. SATA drives are not BIOS limited size as we do with IDE drives. Your laptop last must have been at the time of Windows 2000 since XP Service Pack 2 and Pentium 4 processors (2002-3 or almost) even the IDE drives have used big block (48-bit) and it was not really a limit of size of hard drive, but I'm old enough to remember when 512 megs, and 8.4 GB then 32 concerts then 123 concerts was the insurmountable obstacle.

  Go to the computer in the start menu and right-click on it and select 'manage '... Select disk management and see if you see 2 hard drives here. You may need to assign a drive (aka "mount") letter the second drive by right-clicking and selecting "assign drive letter" in order to access it through Windows Explorer. Frankly, HP should have done that at the factory, but if the drive is present and active, you should still be able to do it yourself. It will look something like this you should have a disk of the same size 0 and a disc 1. Your Windows drive will be more sections (partitions) and the second or the storage disk is probably just a large partition:

  I think about adding a 2nd. hard drive in my HP Pavilion dv7 - 4083cl.

  The current drive of 500 GB at 7200 RPM will be the 2nd. drive and a new SSD will be 1. drive (System and boot).

  I was looking for this information, but I couldn't find the answer. My doubts are:

  1. the dv7 - 4083 cl does support SATA III? If I install a SATA III disc, will it work to its full potential, or as a SATA II drive? In other words, can I buy a SSD SATA II drive cheaper because I wouldn't have the performance of a most recent hard drive SSD SATA III?

  2. a 256 GB SSD support this machine? Or is it just up to 160 GB?

  Hello:

  You know the chipset specifications to determine what version of your laptop SATA drive will manage transfer speeds to.

  Your laptop computer has a chipset Mobile Intel series 5 (HM55) who can run that hard disks to the SATA II transfer speed.

  Not until you get to new Intel 6 Series chipsets and can they run SATA III drives to SATA III speed.

  Since your laptop comes standard with a 500 GB HARD drive, I imagine a 250 GB SSD should work fine.

  However, the recovery disks may not work on a smaller hard drive.

  There is no profit. It is what it is. A SATA M.2 connected via the same port as a 2.5 inch SATA SSD will perform about the same. If your laptop computer has the necessary hardware to install a 2.5 inches WHAT SATA SSD, but you would have to buy additional hardware to operate a m2 drive the and you will get nothing in performance. Seems an easy decision what to do.

  Nice day. I bought a Pavilion dv7-4190us last December 2010. I loved its audio quality. However, I recently formatted the OS due to some MBR problems. I managed to get most of the software I need to save for Beats Audio and MediaSmart Webcam.

  For Beats Audio, I find not everything on the page for the driver for my laptop model. For MediaSmart webcam, I downloaded and installed sp51029 but nothing happened. Someone knows what's the problem?

  Try the following to see if you can install HP MediaSmart Webcam.

  First, download the MediaSmart Webcam Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  Then, if you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.

  Now, open your download folder, click with the right button on the HP MediaSmart Webcam Installer, select Extract 7 - Zip, select the files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder, open src and scroll down until you see the application setup ( 12th from the bottom with a size of 310 KB ).  This Application Configuration right click and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once installation is complete, restart the computer and see if the Wecam software has been installed successfully.

  Use your P/N on hp pilot site and find the service manual and see what the cottage to OD it uses and you can then use to refer to what DVD player burner you can get. And if it's a Sata Drive more recent OD are sata you just have to make sure that it is a DVD burner and then swap the front to match the original.

  More than likely HP won't to material support for Windows 8 on any system purchased before October 1, 2011.  Most of the Windows 7 drivers work in Windows 8.

  I have a HP Pavilion a1710n desktop PC. It has a 320 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA hard drive and works on Vista 32-bit. I had a Maxtor external hard drive as well and the USB interface no longer works, so I would like to take the hard drive out of it (an another Seagate Barracuda 320 GB) and put it in my computer as a second drive. I took the hard drive from Maxtor case without problem and have ready to hook up power and data cables. However, I don't know if I need to do anything for riders - as now there is no jumper block on his four ankles at all. Is this OK as it is to put it in my office, or I have to buy a block of jumpers, and if so where should I put it?

  If it is a SATA drive, no riders should be necessary that SATA uses a separate connector for each drive.

  Adobe Bridge all records in a roaming cache file. The file takes up as much memory on the hard drive that emits its creation the normal treatment on my computer.   No matter what type 2.5 inch SSD SATA will work. Your laptop is a SATA-II interface, but a SSD SATA-III works perfectly. I had luck with Samsung Evo 850 SSD. The SSD of only type for which I've seen consistent reports of problems is the Crucial MX - 100 series. And it's only for some HP models newer than yours.

• HP Pavilion P6-2170 - support for virtualization?

  I bought a HP Pavilion P6-2170 today and wanted to turn to virtualization Hyper-V (I run Windows 8 Enterprise).

  The CPU would support it (Core i7), but I'm not sure about the motherboard (it's a 2AC2 of PEGATRON CORPORATION 2.00).  There is no option in the BIOS, so my question is this computer supports virtualization?
