If I click on the + to open a tab, it happens to a browser window which I don't want. I've changed the 'home page' what I want, which doesn't seem to work, even when I restarted Firefox.
How can I change the screen that is displayed when I select a new tab? Thank you very much in advance for your help!
A new tab opens by default like a Virgin tab (topic: empty).
If this isn't the case, then an extension has changed this behavior.

How can I get rid of all that have hijacked my homepage in Firefox 12 and replaced by a login page "Bank of America"? I have reset my home page in Options, but it does not help. I suspect that there is an entry of thugs in my Windows Vista registry. I tried to get rid of it with several antivirus programs, including MS Security Essentials, Avast, Spyware Doctor and Malwarebytes, but none removed the offending attacker. Help would be appreciated.

Startup of the home pages are replaced. replaces the custom settings
I am running FF 6.0.2 on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 on a network, but FF is installed on my local machine. I put my pages from start-up to Yahoo and Google News, but FF crushes my settings. Whenever I have reset my preferences and start the browser displays the what's new and first broadcast tabs. He seems to treat each instance as a brand-new facility.
I had disabled or deleted all my addons and basically started with a 'safe' firefox in case there were some conflicts, but that did not help.
My bookmarks and password security settings do not change, but he returned to 'History of not to forget' when I use the 'Custom settings' option in the Privacy window.
The topic: the configuration settings for browser.startup and startup.homepage are:
Browser.Startup.homepage_override.buildid; the user's game; string; 20110902133214
Browser.Startup.homepage_override.mstone; the user's game; string; RV:6.0.2
Startup.homepage_override_url; default value; string

I'm on firefox 41. When I select a new tab, I get displayed story. This has changed today. I don't know what I changed to create this problem. He has always displayed Google as my homepage with no history and no new proposed apps. How can I get that back to this point. Firefox deleting then reinstalling would resolve the issue.
Hi, 41 of Firefox, you must use an add-on like tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.
Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.
Note, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.
You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.
If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

What on Earth is the lego man ' click me ' on the home page, and why he doesn't something when I click on?
Click Me logo is part of the promotion of the Humble Mozilla Bundle - clicked once you should be able to control the character with the "WASD" and "IJKL" key.
Citing the-edmeister https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1025706
Who click Me the game is part of the promotion of the Humble Bundle of Mozilla on the default Home Page [topic: Home], which loads from the Mozilla servers in the "Brand Logo" section (DIV) of about: House. A feature that has been used in Firefox 29 [IDE] just before the start of the Olympic Games.
Also, part of this promotion is addressed in the "excerpt" under the container of the research on the topic: homepage.
If you want to prevent the section "Brand Logo" (and the "snippet" under the reservoir of research) never to be seen again, you can install this UserStyle and elegant. https://userstyles.org/styles/104673/about-home-hide-snippets-and-hide-brand-logo

Please help me. I can't get homepage back even when I try to 'RESET FIREFOX' it indicates just that his embarrassment and im old and I have no idea what to do? I'd appreciate any help. God bless you, jeri
Sorry, it's a little confusing. You get the screen "embarrassed" If Firefox crashed and is not able to automatically restore your previous session.
If you uncheck old windows and tabs, Firefox should start with your home page after that.
Or it happens every time you exit Firefox and restart it?
What page you want as your home page? You can check the setting in the Preferences dialog box. These articles describe the steps:
If Firefox is ignoring your homepage layout and a different page, it could be caused by one of your modules, maybe one who snuck in unexpectedly.
You can view your extensions and disable those unknown or unwanted page modules. Either:
- Command + shift + a
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
When you first get Firefox, it searches your system for extensions, so you can see something associated with your security software. But way General, extensions are optional and you do not need to allow an any of them, except if find you them useful.

When I opened a Web site, it seems quite wrong. Everything is white and all centered page to the left. I checked Firefox by pressing the ALT key, and it is already set to "basic page style". So there must be something else.

I use Windows 7 Professional and have tried all the tips troubleshooting recommended for this problem. I don't have the new version of Firefox installed, because he had all kinds of problems, so I went back to the version that I had--I believe it's 3.6.24. Since then, I have not been able to define a home page. Any help out there? Thank you!
Try to drag the tab or the favicon of the site on the Home button if currently drag you selected text.
If this does not work with dragging the icon and then copy the URL to the Clipboard and paste it via Options window in the area of the home page.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

When you open an external link, a new window opens and displays the home page
Updated to the latest version (36.0 Linux) and now whenever I open a link from an external application to be steam E-mail IRC or any other source, instead of the page is displayed a new window will open and then load the home page. I tried the default browser to something else (which opened the links correctly) switching and vice versa, safe mode and even a refresh, but the problem persists.
I found this in the bug tracker.
Apparently it seems to be a problem with an old hack in XFCE or desktop environments possible on X in general, which is no longer supported in Firefox 36. A solution fast until they solve this problem, is to open a new terminal and enter:
sudo gedit /usr/share/xfce4/helpers/firefox.desktop
(replace gedit by any other text editor you use)
.. .and change the last two lines:
X-XFCE-orders = %B - distance "openURL (about: Virgin, new window)"; %B;
X-XFCE-CommandsWithParameter = %B - remote "openURL (%s)"; %B %s;
to read:
X-XFCE-orders = %B;
X-XFCE-CommandsWithParameter = B %%s;
then save the document, of course.This solves the problem for me immediately.
