    Original title: screen resolution problem

    Hello

A few weeks ago, I turned on my laptopn and there was a black border around the screen. I managed to change the screen resolution, but my laptop seems to think that I have a dual monitor? And my resolution is still not like it was before. Obviously this isn't a huge problem, but it's annoying to have to go and change it regularly.

In addition, given that this has started to happen, I noticed that when I turn on my laptopn, instead of the usual Acer / Windows startup screen, the screen is all black, until the login screen appears. I don't know if this is related or how, once again, this isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if an update is installed, you do not see the progress it's making!

I ran a system restore, without success.

Running Windows 7 on a laptop Acer Aspire. Any suggestions welcome, although I'm not that tech-savvy!

    Thank you

    Hello

The first thing to check is your theme controls. Go to the control panel and select personalization. When this window opens, go down and select wallpaper. When this window opens go to the lower left corner and make sure that the background that position of the image is set to 'bridge '. Save the changes and return (right click on the name of the theme in the theme dialog box).

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

  • How can I get rid of the black border around my screen?

After an update, my screen resolution changed for no reason. Tried to change, but now I have a black border around my screen that I can't get rid of.

    Hello

Windows Update will sometimes offer you updates of graphics drivers; NEVER accept them.

Only go graphics drivers of your computer or the manufacturer of the graphics Web site map.

Go to the website of your computer manufacturer > drivers download Section > then key in your computer model number > find your operating system > find two graphics / video or from the Chipset drivers and download and install.

Then try to change the screen resolution.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Here is the information on the Windows updates.

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • How can I remove large black border on the screen

I have an Alienware OptX AW2210 21.5 "Widescreen Monitor at resolution 1920 x 1080 (recommended settings) running on Windows 7.  No problem initially, but after an update there are now a wide black border around the outside of my screen and I can't get rid of it and make the display extend to cover the entire screen area.

    Thanks for the tips.

It was a problem of scale.  I had to access the HDMI from the Catalyst Control Center nozzle and change the scale to 0% - did the job.

  • An area or a window, black, flashing around the screen, preventing the normal operation of the computer.

I have a flashing and move the black box. In addition, a little black "bug" moving on the blue bar at the bottom of the screen. I stopped him temporarily. It says "the application could not initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application. "When I do the flashing box back and kind of takes the P.C., preventing a 'normal' operation of the computer. Any thoughts, please? As you can tell I am ignorant with respect of the computers please dumb it down for me? Thank you.

At the moment, it seems to be contained in a box titled "cmd.exe - Application error.

Can I get rid of this or should I consider for repairs, once again?

    Thank you, Alan

I turned on the computer this morning and "PRESTO!" It has been fixed! I just figured (assumed) the fairy Magic computer was coming over the magic fairy dust at night and sprinkled on the keyboard and instantly, better everything! Ridicule me.

Joking aside, this means - it has declined and is still in my system, lie dormant, so to speak? He wasn't there this morning. I honestly thought that Microsoft Security had just sent an update and just sort of 'fixed' it. I am both ignorant and naïve.

Don't tell the bad guys, or I'll be marked, "EASY!" as a target.

Should I just leave well enough, only? As in, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Or I followed the procedures laid out for me in the above section?

I know I'm not very clear. I'm sorry.

  • Satellite M30-853 - vertical white lines or black spots on the screen

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite M30 - 853 during nearly four years. A few days already, I'm having a problem that they come from the white lines vertical or black spots or screen is smear when I am trying to move a window from time to time. My wireless adapter is in use.

The vicinity of processor, video card and wireless network card are very hot. My cooling fan is starting and stopping, but I'm not sure of its effectiveness.

I disassembled the laptop to clean it if there is little to dust, but I found it in very good condition. Anyway, the problem persists and I am looking for decision. Someone told me that probably that's because of the defective video card memory. It's strange to me because the problem is not permanent it is often and if I try to cool the surface it disappears.

    I'd appreciate any suggestions.

In my opinion, these issues must be verified correctly. This can be done using different diagnostic tools. It is important to know what the problem cases.
Of course, it has something to do with the temperature of material and graphics card. Sorry but I'm really skeptical, you can do something alone. Maybe you should seek professional help.

  • How to get rid of border around the linked image in IE?

Still developing my page and I wanted to see what it looks like ona a few different computers.  I've linked the images as part of my bar side/nav bar.  In Firefox on my machine

the images are as I want them to be... sitting in the border sidebar with no individual border around them.  If I watch on another computer with Firefox

If I look in IE, each image has its own black border around the image (which I assume is because I put them in place in the form of links).  How can I change the

code for these borders do not appear in Internet Explorer and it works on any version of Firefox can be implemented?

    http://rickcicciarelli.com/AntiqueTargetThrowers.html

Try to add this code to your CSS stylesheet:

    #sidebar img {}

    border: 0px;

    }

Also, FYI, you can move your styles of links in the head of your page to your CSS stylesheet.

  • Dell Inspiron 5547 black border around screen

    Hello

I have problems with my laptop Dell 5547. There are about 1 cm border around the screen that did not exist before and I noticed now that my taskbar are settled 1 cm upward, but when I put google chrome in full screen it sort of chops to the top bar downwards a little.

I noticed through google searches other people have had similar problems with Dell laptops, but I can't seem to find a solution because that whenever I have try to disable the scaling of display 'maintain' it won't let me turn it off.

The product from the video has the same black border.
It may not be "' fixed"»
Some of these pictures seem to be which is a pretty poor form, but the screen size and resolution are as promised.
Personally, I would have liked a smaller portable set, but if it had to be this size, then I'd rather small dials and a black border, than the large slabs of plastic from all sides. It makes it look better when sound off and I do not notice it that much.

I also heard people say that it is do with touch functionality? Maybe it gives you a better ability to slide into the sides... I do not know.

Yet, there is nothing wrong with your laptop. If it's a breeze for you deal, you may have a decent argument under the laws of the consumer to get a refund. They can't really show pictures that hide and make the screen appear larger is it. But the video is here, and the specifications are all honest.

  • Black border around video. PE8

    Hello!

I use on my laptop Win 8 components 8. And recently, I always have a black border around the video. I don't know what I should change to get rid of this settings, but I've looked everywhere. Can you please help?

The black borders are caused by a mismatch between your video and Preset of your project.

Can you give us all the details of these videos, such as where they came from, the size of the image, the CODEC used, etc. and then the project preset that you chose for the new project?

Also, see this article for more details: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3797172#3797172

  • How can I get rid of the black box around the exported video?

I am importing video recorded with OBS in resolution 1920 x 1080. Watch the video, it seems fine. But once I run the video in Adobe first Elements 9, when I export it as a file .m2t in resolution 1920 x 1080, it has a thick black box around the video. The video source is in .mp4 format. Can someone help here?

Versions prior to version 11 of Premiere Elements must have their projects manually configured to match the source media.

Start a new project, in the project Panel, click settings and select project settings that correspond to your video specifications. This can be difficult because you are not editing video camcorder but the video which is produced by a third-party software. You will probably need open a sample of this video G Spot or Media Info in order to get the exact resolution, the frame rate and audio and video codecs that are in use - and, in the Premiere Elements 9 version, these codecs are not fully supported.

You can try the free download of version 13 and see if it works better with your video. Earlier versions of the software were much greater with sources video camcorder and non-standard.

I have an Indesign document I want to print with a slight border around the edge.

I print it after have exported them in PDF format.  But when I choose the various combinations of the "print the printer marks" in the export settings, none of them doesn't seem to work.

I want just a line simple thin border around the edge of the document to print.  I don't want the internal body to print (which it does sometimes).

I know it can be done, because on some of my documents .indd it works... but I can't figure out what I did to get it printed like that.

    and thank you...

That's all!  Yes, I see now that I had requested a stroke to the master page in the file with a border.

I created the first document in years, so I forgot and it's not really appear except when it is printed.

So now with the new file I just applied a framework and drawn a line by 1 point on the main frame in the document.

Now, it will be printed as I wanted.

    THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
