my itunes library sharing

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me? I want to put songs from my itunes library on my girlfriends without sync phone or mess up a phone? She has a lot of albums, but we only have a laptop and it is set up for my phone, is there a way to do this?

Thank you very much

iPhone used to synchronize with a single library on a single computer, but iTunes library can support multiple devices. Has he been synchronized and loaded with content from another computer in the past? If Yes see Open a different iTunes library file or create a new Apple Support one - if necessary, so it has a separate library, then recover your iTunes from your iPod or an iOS device. You can then add additional content in the library and then synchronize with your phone.

  • Problems with iTunes library shared between 2 computers

I have a rather unique situation where I have a single iTunes library that is shared by both computers. It has worked well for years, until lately. Here is my configuration:

    • Mac iMac server software. All my music is on a USB drive 3 TB (named 'music'), attached to the mac. Its static IP address is 192.168.1.15.
    • MacBook Air. This computer connects to the iMac on the LAN, where the iTunes library lives, as well as all the music.

Each computer is running OS X 10.11.2. All I have to do is to make sure that iTunes is left on a mac, before I start it on the other.

The problem that happens lately, is that on the iMac, for some songs (not all), when I try to play them, he tries to access it through the network on its own IP address, which gives an error that it cannot connect to the server at 192.168.1.15. It's like the iTunes on the iMac it'S the iTunes on the Macbook Air, if it tries to access music on the network, on himself.

iTunes works fine on the Macbook Air, but I noticed sometimes when I play iTunes, it mounts a second instance of hard drive of the music, because I see in a finder window that it is connected to the iMac and also connected to 192.168.1.15 (IP address of the iMac).

I opened the iTunes library XML file and noticed that there are a bunch of songs which the path is "/ volumes/music-1/musicfolder/songname.mp3", but most were "/ volumes/music/musicfolder/songname.mp3". So I did a search and replace for 'music-1' to change it to just "music". This does not seem to make any difference with the problem, and when I have opened the XML file, I saw that iTunes had sprinkled in a lot of instances 'music-1' again.

    So my question is:

How to return to the iMac looking for its music files locally, instead of through the LAN, on its own IP address? If the path in the XML file is "/ volumes/music/musicfolder/songname.mp3", which then determines whether iTunes search for this path locally or via the LAN? Is this info in the iTunes library. ITL file?

    Help! Thank you.

iTunes creates the .xml for other applications to use. The .xml content 90% reflect the content of the .itl. iTunes uses only the .itl.  If you want the .itl update changes in the .xml, you need to delete (or remove) the .itl, then launch iTunes. It will start with an empty library, and then you import the .xml. Note This will deliver the game counts to zero, delete all the logs and reset the date of addition to our days.  By doing what you have just used iTunes the .itl as usual and has replaced the .xml as it usually does, with the same credentials as before.

I don't know the cause of the problem or the real nature of it.  It can be by using the server software is at the origin of this.  iTunes is not really set up for connections to the server of fancy, simple old external hard drives.  Usually when I see this kind of question on the forum it is because someone uses a library on a NAS.

  • iMovie pull iTunes library

I just bought a new macbook air. I installed the new version of iMovie, version 10.1.2. I can get downloaded photos and in the timeline, but I can't sync with my iTunes library.

I am connected and authorized in my iTunes, I can see all my music in iTunes and I can play. In iMovie, it is not with the any of these music files. I can drag them from iTunes in iMovie and it imports the name and place in the timeline, but there is no audio real (not little waves on the track, even if this setting is enabled).

I scoured internet. I can't understand this. Thank you

    Hi, syker,

I think you have to use iTunes/preferences/advanced to configure iTunes library sharing to other applications.  Open your iTunes application and take a look at some advanced preferences.

The reason that the songs that you drag in are not to play and no display of waveforms is probably because they are protected by DRM and are not available for use in iMovie.  I have 464 songs in my iTunes library I can't use.  Through the game of iTunes program, you have to pay, you can re - download at least some of the songs

who are without DRM protection, as long as iTunes still sells the song.  Frustrating, I know.

  • iMac with 2 users and shared iTunes library

I want to give my wife access to my iMac, since the death a few days ago from his netbook.

What should I do - apart from the creation of a new account - we can use the same iTunes library, which is on an external hard drive?

She has her own iPad and so own Apple ID.

    Some additional information:

1 there is no iTunes purchases which he shared library ' in bulk ' on the hard drive.

    2. we don't use iTunes game

    3. sharing app would be nice, but she won't need to almost nothing outside of Safari, office and iTunes

    4. for the office, I have a 365 subscription, which she can also use

    5. There is an Apple TV involved, that we use to stream iTunes and is connected to my Apple ID for the moment. Is this a problem?

6 sync is useless for its iPad, sync to my iPhone should still work with my account

    Thank you!

Launch iTunes with down option, and then choose this library. You may need to change permissions on it, or select the volume in the Finder, choose get the information in the file menu and check the box for ignore ownership or permissions to this topic.

  • iTunes library on NAS shared with every Mac.

Okey, so I saw a lot of info on iTunes on a NAS share and I have read tons and tons of messages without a complete solution.

    So that's what I have today;

    1 Macbook Pro 15 "

    2 Macbook Pro 13 "

1 mini Mac (connected to my Samsung TV and the stereo downstairs)

1 NAS Synology 216 readers to play with 2x3GB

Remote-app on my iOS devices so that I can change the music on the stereo without a computer

Everything is connected to the same WiFi of course

I want to spend my whole library iTunes into ONE on the NAS and then I want to

    (1) in order to access all the music on all computers

2 (a) be able to add more music

    (b) sometimes I need to change the title of a song/album details may change the genre or add words etc.

iTunes on the NAS server is to create.

I compiled all the music in a library on the Macbook pro 15 "and used the following settings in iTunes under Advanced

    -Keep iTunes Media folder organized

-Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library

-Sharing iTUnes library XML with other applications

Also changed genres and all about the songs/albums to make everything as I want

Moved the folder iTunes with everything on the NAS in music/iTunes

And hold the ALT key when starting iTunes and then I choose the music/iTunes and then it took a few minutes and asked if he should copy all files

    so I said yes here.

Now, it seems that I can share all the music on the NAS, but I can't

    1) click a song and change its genres, etc album name when I add the new music

    QUESTIONS

So is it possible that I missed something, so why can't I just edit?

Should I hold the ALT key and the library directly in NAS server folder and let them copy all files on the Mac Mini and the 2 13 "Macbook Pro is as well?

    Anyone who has this problem?

  • Do remote iTunes library default?

Is there a way to configure iTunes to use a default remote iTunes library?

My main iTunes library is on an iMac and another Mac I want to use this default iTunes library.

I work sharing at home between the two systems.

    Thanks in advance

    Rohit

It's a little involved if you want to leave the library on the main drive of the first computer.  Will be have to make the folder containing the library reading and writing of the computer, so make sure that the first computer is always turned on and wake up when you use iTunes on the second computer. In addition, you can only use the library to a computer at a time.

  • AppleTV doesn't show iTunes library all

    Hello

This morning while using my Apple TV to see a movie, I realized that Apple TV has fallen by half the content of my library.

Today is Wednesday, and all content was available on the weekend.

IE - I have not access to movies on my Apple TV, which are part of my iTunes library.

I don't quite know what to do.

    I restarted Apple tv.

I disconnected my apple and re connected again.

I checked if there are updates waiting for Apple TV or iTunes.

I left the game at home sharing and off iTunes and rebooted.

    any ideas?

    Thank you very much

Please ignore this.  I can't work on the removal of this question.

I had a PET of brain.

The apple tv showed only movies 'unattended '.  duh!

  • My (partially Apple music) iTunes library does not appear in app Remote.

    Hello world

I am aware of the fact that Apple's Remote application does not support Apple music, but the Remote app on my iPhone does not even recognize the iTunes library on my Mac. House sharing is enabled on my Mac and the two devices are connected to the same Apple ID

Guys do you have an idea why this is the case?

    See you soon,.

    Luke

He works now for some reason, I have completely no idea why.

  • Is it possible to stream DVD of ICloud instead of iTunes home sharing via my computer?

I would like to be able to download my DVD somehow so I can play them all Apple TV (gen 4) instead of airplaying them or having to maintain the computer to share the home of my iTunes (latest version). As it is, if I want to watch a DVD, downloaded on my Apple TV I must select COMPUTERS and go into my library to select the movie and then keep my computer over time. I managed to download a DVD on my Icloud player hoping to be able to stream the DVD from there nothing doesn't. I do not understand why this is the case and am unable to find any resources that explain the case however, I'm rather new to all this and perhaps, I not looking in the right places. Second of all, why can't I just go to the MOVIES on Apple TV and find them there with the rest of my movies as opposed to strictly buy films he and others else where; they are all good movies? Put them in the category FILM (it is more a problem of Apple, I guess). Is it possible to stream my DVDs to iCloud instead of iTunes home sharing via my computer? Any information or guidance would be appreciated thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

When you look at the top row of the applications the homescreen are apps from iTunes Store.

So the only films - purchased are one you purchesed from iTunes. It is the same for other applications in the same row.

Focus on Plex to broadcast your own films as an alternative to the use of computers on the Apple TV.

  • How to remove all the songs in a playlist of my itunes library?

My request here is, is it possible that I can select all the pieces that I have selected in iTunes and delete all of these songs in my iTunes library. To clarify I'm asking not how to remove and individual songs or how to remove a playlist, I want the songs within a time to be gone, or deselected somehow.

Basically, I recently bought a new laptop and I've been moving all of my music from the old laptop to the new aid, sticks of memory of 8 GB that I don't have an external hardrive and would rather not pay for someone else to come and move the contents of my hard drive from one to the other. On my previous laptop, I had a playlist containing all the songs I want on my phone for synchronization purposes, as I had too much music to store it all. For reasons to keep this playlist and without having to build all over again I first transferred the music in the playlist of phone. The problem is I now want to transfer the songs that aren't in that playlist aswell, but I can't find anyway to select only the titles so that I can drag them into my memory stick. I can't delete the songs in the playlist one by one as there are almost 6000 titles in there then, obviously, that would be very time consuming.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give

I would recommend before you do anything destructive with your library you backup your iTunes for Windows with SyncToy library. It is also the tool I would recommend that you use to transfer the library to a computer, first back up and restore then (in a folder empty) to the other machine. Doing it this way means that you get the sides play heads of prosecution, playlists, date added, and that you don't have to erase and reload your content. It also ensures that you have a backup! Hard drives external are quite cheap and you should not skimp. That said, if the two computers are on the same network, you can use SyncToy to copy the iTunes folder from one to the other, if you open the folder music sharing on a computer, so it can be seen from the other.

As for the original question, Ctrl + A to select everything in a playlist. SHIFT-DELETE to remove it from the library. But I really wouldn't like that.

  • Apple TV is not connect to iTunes Library when you start

I have 4 of Apple TV, iTunes 12.3.3.xx, Windows 10.  Home sharing works great for listening to the music and movies of my iTunes library... sometimes. Almost every time I turn on my Apple TV and access the application of computers, it tells me to activate home sharing in iTunes.  It is already on and my PC has the value Never Sleep and drive to never turn off.  If I turn off home sharing in iTunes and then turn it back on, the Apple TV immediately recognizes the library and I can listen very well.  The next time I turn on my Apple TV, I have to make the routine all over again.  It was not used to do this when I was with my old XP machine, but I also couldn't upgrade to iTunes 12 on XP.  I had once a Windows 10 machine and put iTunes 12 on it, the problem began.  So, I don't know if it's Windows 10 or 12 iTunes or what.  It gets really annoying.  Please help me understand why my Apple TV can not see my library when I first put it.

I read a few other posts about people not being able to get home sharing to work at all (where mine will work after home sharing then next turn again).  They said that to disable IPv6 on the network card on the PC solved their problem.  I did, and until now my problem disappeared.  I'll report in a few days once I have the chance to see if it happens again.

  • Access to multiple Windows 10 accounts iTunes library

I have a system 10 Windows with a user account for each Member of the family (4 Standard accounts and 1 Administrator account).  iTunes Media folder is located at C:\Users\Public\Music\iTunes media and this has been selected in the iTunes preferences / advanced.  Initially this has been in place since the administrator account and iTunes works very well from this account now.

However, I'm not able to access the public music library of one other Standard user accounts after you set the preferences of iTunes it correctly.  I don't think it's a matter of vs Standard administrator account, because in a Standard account, I can always navigate Windows Explorer to a song and read it in iTunes - I can't seem to get iTunes to display the entire library of music in my music.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

See make a library of portable split.

Set the media folder does not change what the iTunes library database is open when iTunes is running.

In a multi machine iTunes profile must be closed before moving the profiles of school boards.

A better location for a shared library is X:\iTunes, where X: is an internal drive or external connected locally. Leave the room for growth.

  • AirPlay expose works such as extended display but will not itunes library flow

On a MBP and can use my apple TV as office extended, but if I try to stream a video from my iTunes library I get an error message saying: the network connection has expired. That happen all the time and sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes may take 3 or 4 attempts to disseminate and sometimes it is not matter what I do (including Apple TV restarting, MBP etc.) it will not work. Even when it does not work, I can use the air game screen to show my desktop etc on the TV via Apple TV, and I can also just mirror my phone or my ipad at any time without any problem. All software are up to date on my MBP and Apple TV. Everything starts to get really annoying when trying to watch videos at home etc and not be able to. One is able to offer a solution?

Looks like you're using Airplay and trying to play iTunes content and watch via Airplay.

If so, you would be better using the part of the House and streaming videos like this.  It uses the buffering and is less than half a load on your network.

Using Airplay does not tax these as your network and buffer.

  • You can access your itunes library on the apple tv?

You can access your itunes library on the apple tv? If so, what generation?

Second generation and later the Apple TV can access iTunes libraries that exist on a computer on the same network, they are through home sharing.

Use home sharing to share content with other devices - Apple Support iTunes

However, this is not related to music from Apple.

If you want to access music from Apple's music subscription service, you need a 4th generation Apple Tv.

  • How to use on another mac iTunes library stored on external hard drive - on cable network

I recently bought a new iMac. I used a time machine to the top to move all files my new computer. I still want to use my old iMac as a media server for my network. The main iTunes library is located on an external hard drive connected to my old iMac.  I don't want to move all these files to my new iMac media because they are large enough.

I sync all my families phones/ipads on this new iMac and of course difficulties with finding them their music/songs etc. When I contacted apple support, they had me move my iTunes library to my new iMac. Now phones are able to properly synchronize and pull up all of their media. However I just duplicated 200 GB of media files. I was able to access the external hard drive to move the media. Is there a way to have my new iMac external hard accessing multimedia disc in iTunes for play and synchronize multimedia files without storing this library on my new computer?

Why not simply unplug the external hard drive and move it? And I don't think so. You can use home sharing to access the library and the Wi - Fi sync iTunes by following the instructions in the link.

Share your iTunes library on your home network - Apple Support
