My keyboard is acting up

Lately, my keyboard seems to suddenly stop working briefly for no reason and then suddenly start working again or 5 minutes after the restart.

Then after he made this morning, he has changed the settings somehow, whereas now, I have to press alt + 3 to get the symbol £ and shift + 3 to get the symbol #. It used to be the other way around...

Help?

I'm on a MacBook Pro (13 inch, mid-2014 of the retina) - OS X El Capitan version 10.11.1

There was damage of water at all?

Try to go to system prefs, then the keyboard and change the settings and then change back them for re - set the keyboard preferences.

If this isn't the case, maybe the PRAM reset may help:

  • Satellite L500-1XC - why my keyboard is acting funny?

I have a Satellite L500-1XC. I reinstall my OS (Windows 7 64-bit) using HARD drive recovery option. But after I did it I have problems with my keyboard.
When I turn on my laptop and start windows, it just automatically starts typing random continuous letter when I'm even not touching my keyboard. (for example, when I open an empty Notepad file it comes automatically types random letters). I guess it's a software problem.
So please be kind enough to give me a solution for this. :)

    Hello Dylan

Please install new OS using the HDD recovery procedure. If the same thing will happen again it must relate to defective hardware keyboard.

What software should give order to keyboard to act on this way?

I think that the user is supposed to 'discover' it takes more than a prolonged pressure (touch right click) to get the tile showing options.   In addition, you have a pen?   FWIW, I think that it is even more difficult to use reliably for this procedure, but if it worked it would be my preference to the touch.

    Hi @ShivamKrishn

Are you able to do triple pressure on the keys outside the games without any problem or is it just in the games?

  • keyboard acting strange from time to time

    Hello

I don't know if this was due to the recent update of microsoft, but at least the problem started occurring after that I installed the latest patch for windows 7 (Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB980182)).

My keyboard works as usual, but sometimes the keyboard starts acting very strange, typing letters on its own or does not at all or even be stuck in letters. For example, if im playing a game or by typing all of a sudden the keyboard starts to type ' | '. 5' and stuff like that I know that I press.

IM using a HP HDX16-eo, updated 1300 all useful drivers from their homepage as well.

Everyone knows that before or after the last update? I couldn't find anything about it.

    Best regards.

I reinstalled the operating system today and the problem is still there, I don't know how to solve this problem, I'm guessing that the hardware is damaged and I have to send in for repair?

Thanks for the help so far

  • HP 17-w033dx omen: keyboard keys stuck (when you play)

About four days ago, I bought the laptop HP Omen. The next day, I bought it, I started to play games. Occasionally (about every 15 minutes), my WASD keys would be stuck and repeat themselves in the games (my character would keep walking).

I have to press the button, regardless of the amount of pressure, to stop spam 'key '.

I turned off sticky and filter keys, as well as ensure that the keyboard drivers are up-to-date, and that the device is not in power saving mode (in any case, I always play with my charger plugged).

I'm kind of mouth gaping, whereas I bought less than a week ago, and the keys of the keyboard have nothing under their (I was very careful about not letting anything slide down there) and that the keys are starting to lock during the games.

Another speculation, it also seems to happen at half way through games, usually when my CPU and GPU are at their peaks, when my computer's temperature is higher (75-85 C for the CPU and GPU).

If someone could help me understand this, thanks!

I read your post about the problems with your new HP PC and wanted to help.

You should not have problems with a PC this new.

Looks like the laptop is overheating and that is the cause of lag, and also the keyboard to act up.  I do not know if this model is considered as a "gaming machine", but you should be able to get a read on that of HP.

While this PC is still under warranty, contact HP customer care directly so that they can put you in contact with HP Technical Support to see what they can do on the diagnosis and repair of your machine remotely.

I did recently, and HP technology was able to remotely access my PC on the Internet and to make the necessary repairs.

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

I decided to change the keyboard for a brand new, but nothing helps...
I'm a bit stuck now to know where to start troubleshooting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

    > The original keyboard started acting funny after that, in my view, it was abandoned.
If the laptop has been abandoned or not?
I think it's very important to know if the laptop has been abandoned or not because the other pieces of equipment that are likely to be affected.
I mean it would be possible that this keyboard or motherboard controller is affected due to the fall of the laptop.

I put t think that someone here might be able to help you if the laptop was dropped, then you should ask a technician for a verification of the material may be there is a party who is affected and must be replaced, but material must be checked to know

I tried to clean it with a can of compressed air, which did nothing. I tried to inspect to see if my daughter may have spilled something on the keyboard, nothing. I checked to ensure the keys sticky was not on, and it is turned off, I even ran an anti virus scan to make sure it has no virus on my laptop, and the complete analysis come clean. • How to unlock the keyboard on my Tecra R series line

My keyboard is stuck on my other computer of series Tecra R,
I can't access 'e' only to 2 and so on, on the upper keyboard.

I did find what I got wrong or how to fix with the keyboard or with windows 7...

No idea what I need to do?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that you have accidentally activated the Num Lock
NumLock key is used to convert a portion of the main keyboard to act as a pad instead of the letters.

Usually you can find the info in your manual how to toggle NumLock
In my case, I have to press Fn + F11 (in some cases FN + F12) to get that license.

  • a few keys on the keyboard does not not on my Sony VAIO flip SVF15N17CXB 15A

    Hello people,

I have the following problem. Around a week ago my keyboard started acting strange. namely, the letter 'I' and 'E' started does not have to work. However, after a few typing continious finally typed the letters. then only the restrat might help. After a few days, it completely stopped working and a few other letters does not work as well now. These are: 'Q' & 'E', 't' & 'I' & 'G '. I'm typing this now with touchscreen keyboard, (fortunetely, it works perfectly).

to make sure that this software is not related, attempted to use the keys in safe mode of Windows, BIOS, connected a USB OS but still no use, they do not work. even activated the sound tapped the keyboard, but the keys do not all sound.

I tried to unplug the LED cable described as https://community.sony.com/t5/VAIO-Hardware-Networking/How-to-replace-Vaio-Flip-15-keyboard/td-p/507..., but didn't help either.

The only reason that comes to my mind could cause, it's playing video games before that happens the keyboard events. I think that overheating caused it, is it still possible that warming could cause some embarrassment on the keyboard keys?

Coulf you please advice any other thing that might fix my problem before I'll order a new keyboard on eBay?

I'm on m holidays and this completely spoiled my mood. Please help, community of Sony.

Ordered keyboard, succeeded him myself, using the replaced keyboard now to type this message.

    All good, all good.

In the case where the external keyboard would work properly, the issue could be related to keyboard internal malfunction.

  • Tecra S1 and strange keyboard problem

    Hello

I had one laptop Tecra S1 old but still works perfectly, except for one thing that is a few years old.

A month ago or so the keyboard started acting all weird for a small period. When I press 'e' the output is eo and if I hold down the button the output looks like this: "eooooooooooooo." The other keys work fine. When I press the 'o' key it simply prints me an o. It has nothing to do with the language of the combination Fn + F10-11 settings. When I have the keypad and I press 'e' I just get the number 6, the same thing happens when I press o.

So basically the o - key works as it should. But there is something missed on 'e '. Earlier today it has worked when I had the pad on, but a little later he returned all crazy. I started my system with a Linux LiveCD to see if it was an OS problem but it wasn't. With an external keyboard, the system works like a charm.

That one key, the e, causing me a headache. It prints me eo or eooooooooooo when pressed.

Thanks if anyone can help me with this. I am thinking of opening up the system and check on the keyboard. It is simply difficult to find a keyboard with a layout of the Finns, but maybe I'll buy an English and Relabel upward.

I agree with the user who has the funny nickname I like it ;)

It looks like a malfunction of the keyboard and it should be replaced
The ASP can do this! Ask if the technicians for assistance!

    See you soon

  • Behavior strange keyboard Lenovo Y-50

Hey. My Lenovo Y-50 is a little older than a year, and all of a sudden the keyboard started acting strangely. On the windows login screen, everything is normal, but then the keyboard does not work. When I turn on the keyboard on the screen it starts to work immediately. Any ideas what the problem may be?

Hey, I tried everything and nothing seemed to work. But then I turned off FilterKeys, allowed him once again and tweaked the settings a little bit and now everything worked for a few days. I don't know what it was, but the problem seems to have been in the settings for FilterKeys.

    Thanks for the quick response.

  • USB with Trackpoint - stuck FN keyboard?

I don't know what I did, but the keyboard is acting like I'm pressing the FN key all the time, if I get a nice assortment of numbers when I type. If I press and hold FN type and myself, nothing happens and none of the real function keys functions work.

I tried the keyboard on multiple computers with the same problem, but for completeness, here is what I tried before that: I've updated, downgraded, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. all available versions of driver and the problem persists. I also tried to download the utility to customization of the keyboard with the hope that it would reset magically everything that is bad, but not luck. I also did that there is no debris in the keyboard that would cause problems. I also tried various USB ports.

Any recommendations on how to fix it? Or someone has the same problem so I can feel less alone?

UM, well don't I feel embarrassed. He did this because numlock did. How about that!
