My Mac has a virus or is this malware?

While browsing with Safari a message popped up on my computer.  Should I take seriously or is - this malware that I must be wary?  The message was:

In "apple.com - messenging.» *** »

VIRUS DETECTED

A Web site that you visited today has infected your Mac with a virus.

Press OK to start the repair process.

-- And there is a blue button with "OK" on this subject.

I force quit Safari and then reopened, get the same message again - because it was open when I force quit the program.  I force quit a second time and then off to my modem.  So when I opened Safari for the third time I got the URL, but the message couldn't come because I was not connected to the Internet.  Without this message box, the page could not freeze the program, I so was able to copy the URL and then delete this tab.  The URL is:

Apple.com-messenging.***/dgkg/? City = Mechanicsburg & region = Pennsylvania & country = US & ip = 71.113.173.79 & isp = Verizon 20Online % 20Llc % & os = BONE 20 X & osv=OS%20X%2010.8%20Mount % ain % 20Lion & browser = Safari & browserversion 206% Safari = & voluumdata = BASE64dmlkLi4wMDA wMDAwNi00ZWVmLTQzNTYtODAwMC0wMDAwMDAwMDAwMDBfX3ZwaWQuLmM1ODIwMDAwLTMwZjktMTFlNi0 4ZTBiLTdjY2JiNWRjZmRhNF9fY2FpZC4uM2EyNDdhMjMtZWEzYi00NTQ4LTgzYWEtNDUxN2U1NjY0NGR lX19ydC4uRF9fbGlkLi5jYzk0MDE3Yy00YTc1LTRjZDktODY5NS01ZjcyNzk5ZTdkZTFfX29pZDEuLmI 4OGM4ZDlhLWNjMzktNDg2NC05ZDI0LWI0ZWQ5NWNmOThmN19fdmFyMS4uYWxwaGEteWF3LVRScGVSV0h 5X192YXIyLi50aW1lb2ZmdW5fX3ZhcjQuLk5PTi1BRFVMVF9fdmFyNS4uRE9NQUlOX19yZC4uX19haWQ uLl9fYWIuLl9fc2lkLi4

So, who is legitimate or is < e-mail apple.com. > a malware site?

Note: I had been visiting a page of Pinterest watching images of famous artists, JMW Turner, etc.. I thought I could get a version enlarged image on the page of Tumbler a photo was supposed to come, but when I clicked on the 'Visit' button, I received the above message of the registered URL.

It's a scam. Force Quit Safari (command + option + ESC keys). Then restart Safari by holding down the SHIFT key.

Safari sidebar slips into view, move the mouse to the left or by clicking on the icon in the toolbar.

  • I think my IE has a virus but not of my scans for virus or malware checks come up with anything. Is there a way to check this?

I think my IE has a virus but not of my scans for virus or malware checks come up with anything. My computer is running VERY slowly, lagging behind, or even on an occasional basis freezes and stops when I'm on the net. Computer function uses only the net works fine until a program I use try to use Windows Explorer. Is there a difference between Explorer Windows and Internet Exporer and is there a way to check this, other than the usual scans. I have McAfee and AVG, as well as malicious software running on a schedule and they are still running in the background, constantly analyzes the sites.

I am at a total loss here. I use secure sites (https rather than just http) when the choice and do not use sites that McAfee or AVG is marked as dangerous. It worries me that I have a lot of things, such a Bank, online and not worry that someone could get information. I recently also maually run the two scan disk and Defrag but they can also be programmed to run on a schedule. The model is NOT saved. When I tried ot create a backup disk, when I first bought the model, something has gone wrong, and he refused to back up then reset would mean a great loss of material. If it's a virus, worm, etc., it is done gradually and I'm not sure that a restart of the plant would be useful it is in IE or Windows Explorer (if there is a difference).

Yes, it is safe to uninstall McAfee.

  • How can I tell if my Mac has been hacked v10.10.5

In 'Window leave Force', there is a flashing line in and out very quickly it was something like: applekit txt... {code

I have a Mac Book Pro (2013) v10.10.5 with all the updates that are loaded.  My laptop was running a bit slow... freezing for short periods of time when you save a document or work in Photoshop. I moved a large number of my large video files to a backup disk to ensure that I have a lot of space. After the restart, I had that Chrome and Photoshop and Finder running. In the FINDER, I clicked on FILE / NEW WINDOW FINDER and saw the Rainbow Apple "Spinning wheel" for more than 30 seconds while you wait for a new Finder window open.

More and more impatient, I clicked on the icon Apple and "force quit." In the window to leave, I saw three running applications but also saw a line of red text jump in, then disappear very quickly a few times. I tried to take a screenshot, but couldn't.  The only thing I could catch was something like applekit .txt... {code and that's all I could catch.} I disconnected from the internet, and he stopped.

You have reason to believe that your mac is hacked?

Have you recently installed any software suspect?

Do you have a person with access to your mac that can install something without your knowledge (which requires an administrative password and the access to the system)

Apart from that you run any type of Mac anti-virus. If so most, if not all have been cited on these forums as points of failure on the Mac and in many, if not all cases of withdrawal of restores them the response and the functionality of the system. Well-known companies AV display the instructions to remove their products. At this time there is no known Mac viruses in the wild, which means no laboratory of titles in the world posted of any finding of a Mac virus that did appear on the internet at this time, please do not confuse this statement with the absurdity of "Mac cannot get viruses.", what I mean , it's "they don't seem still one and mac AV is not nearly as flexible as it is counterpart windows and has been known to cause serious problems and not offer a lot of protection.

Secondly you are running any 3rd party utility system or network, once again, these products are known to cause problems and are not only necessary are often contrary to the OS X, remove them from your system.

If you are not sure what you are using please post a report of etrecheck for the volunteers here to look further as to what your system is running, this report contains personal or confidential information. the software was developed by a long time member of this forum in the first goal to help mac users to isolate a problem in their system and has been very successful in doing this, an overwhelming majority of positions where he asked attests to that.

  • My iPhone (and Mac) has recently started inviting me to enter my password of e-mail occasionally, even when my password has not changed.

My iPhone (and Mac) has recently started inviting me to enter my password of e-mail occasionally, even when my password has not changed. I always receive my email if I do not reintroduce.  I sometimes take the message pop up on the home screen.  It happens about once a week lately.  I'm a little worried that so often on my iPhone.  The same thing happens to my Mac too, but less frequently.  I noticed that this happens for Gmail, email from work (Exchange) and iCloud, but not all other accounts.  Potential virus?

    Not necessarily

When the mail (especially sent) is rejected by the server - for some reason - server busy or too large attachment or even unstable connection - the first step is to ask for authentication

I would see if there is a model in terms of contacts or attachments that you can discern

  • My Macbook Pro has a virus?

I was reading an article online when I clicked on a hyperlink to continue reading more on the topic. Once I clicked it, I was redirected to a page where a pop up is appeared. He said thinking that your computer has been hacked and gave me a number to call. I couldn't X out of the pop up or make any where on my laptop. I called the number, but I restart my computer. When I have opened Safari, the pop up was gone, but I was prompted to download a new version of Safari, but people tell me not to download something like it could be a virus. Is it possible that I can tell if my computer is being hacked or if it has a virus? I have a Macbook Pro from 2013.

    Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

You can also remove the adware manually by following the steps provided by Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987

After that, make sure that your default search provider is set to the one you always use. To do this, open Safari - Preferences - research.

Go to the Safari menu (at the top right of your screen next to the Apple icon), choose 'Quit Safari'

Press the "Shift" key and while holding this button on your unique keyboard, click the icon of Safari on your Dock.

Open Safari - Preferences - Privacy - data to remove any Web site.

Also, I think it would be a good idea to install AdBlock.

  • Re: Is my Satellite L670D-13F has a virus?

    Hello

My nice newish L670D-13F is currently unusable and I wonder if he has a virus?

When I turn it on only about a millimeter of the Toshiba logo flashes upward, then appear in the start bar and the logo of Microsoft but a blink jittering way then all color disappears from the screen and remains white for a few moments then the screen goes black and the windows tune time and four colored globes appear but a very distorted way then all the colors in the new screen fades goes black then the slider appears, but wobbly extended way, screen fades etc etc.

This happened a week ago, but when I went there the next day he behaved normally and advised me to use the system restore which I did and the computer performed normally for a few days but then it happens again but has not started up normally and is now unusable by pressing the keys has no effect at all.

Sorry for my description, I'm sure you can guess that I am not at all "grumpy"!

    Thank you very much
    Nicole

    Hello

To me, it looks more like a hardware problem and not a virus problem.
Maybe the graphics card begins to malfunction. Check the laptop to an external display.
If the same graphic question would be available on the external monitor, then it would mean that this could be a hardware problem; Maybe a graphics card problem.
