My "Pin to Taskbar", "delete the start" etc. on my screen of boot options have been replaced by rectangles

Hi all

This week, I bought a new computer and a clean installed Windows 8 Pro on this subject last night Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Everything went well, but after that I was running, roughly halfway through the reloading all my programs and downloading my apps I noticed that some of my icons/Windows 8 interface graphics had been corrupted.

On the start screen, when you click right on the bar program tasks then appears downstairs. Where it says uninstall/remove startup etc there is often icons above them like a PIN, etc. These disappeared and I have now 3 rectangles above each option and I don't know why. Can anyone help? I've attached screen grab so you can see what I mean.

Hello

Those who are actually not icons they are symbols that are contained in the default fonts for Windows 8.

See the following Web site for the fix.

If so, make sure that lock you the taskbar, right-click on the taskbar > check 'lock the Tasbar.

    2. If the above does not help, go to safe mode and see if you can see the taskbar at the bottom.
Here's how to get safe mode:

Shut down your computer > turn it back on and immediately and repeatedly tab key F8 until you see a black and white screen. The top/down arrow and select Safe Mode.

If you can see the taskbar in safe mode, please do a system restore. Choose a date where you did not have this problem as your restore point.

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

  • Pin a network to the start menu shortcut

Everyone figured out how to pin a netwrok to the start menu shortcut?  I tried to do it the way they say it, right click and select PIN to start menu, but the option is not there for programs on the network.  I was able to find Documents and Settings/User/StartMenu and I dropped the military in there, but they are not yet appearing on the start menu.  Help, please.

Create a folder on your desktop called networking programs or files, and then drag the icons for the files or programs in there.  You can then create a new toolbar by right-clicking on the taskbar, go to toolbars and add the new toolbar.  From there, all just point to your folder on your desktop and the appropriate files will appear in your taskbar tasks.  It's not pretty, but it works.

Here is an article on the Dell docking station which is what I think you're talking about. http://www.delldock.com/help/intro.htm.

In short, go to start / all programs / Dell / and then double-click Dell Dock to open it.

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  To restore it in the start menu as it was before.  If you want to test to see if it corrects the problem, restart and make sure that the Dell docking station appears.

If it is not, after return and we will go over some options to check why it is not the case and see if we can do it restart automatically.

    I hope that this helpss.

    Good luck!

Command-r does not work on a 10.6.8 system, you would need 10.7 Lion or better to do. If you try to install a new system and that you have already downloaded, then go to your Applications folder and double-click "install OS X...". »

You cannot remove a process, you probably just stopped it.  In the Task Manager (where you have completed the process), click file | New task and in the dialog box that opens type "Explorer" and press ENTER.

I have a file Windows pop up message Protection. It is said: the files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows XP Home Edition CD-Rom now. The problem is that I do not have this CD and need a way to solve this problem. Thank you

    Hello

    1. have you made any hardware changes or software on the computer before this problem?
    2. when exactly you receive popup?

Run SFC scans the computer and check.

SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    3. at the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

  • The text of menus, messages and texts of dialog have been damaged in many of my programs.

The text of menus, messages and texts of dialog have been damaged in many of my programs.  He seems to have taken place after the last update patch this last week.  I don't see in place and place menu commands, dialog texts, status messages are series of rectangles as a square off the coast of character "O".  Some of these programs include MS Office Applications, Adobe Reader, Norton AV.  It does not affect Internet Explorer.  Anyone know what this problem is?

Have you run a registry cleaner program so-called?  If so, it is probably the cause of the problem.  If this is not the case, here are some things you can check.

Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

    -

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

    -

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To do that click on start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

    `

When you get your system in good working condition, I invite you to back up your system up to an external hard drive and make it regular periodic updates.
