My ram is 4GB (3.8 GB), why windows 7 ultimate 64-bit use 3.8 GB to 4 GB of ram?

My ram is 4GB (3.8 GB), why windows 7 ultimate 64-bit use 3.8 GB to 4 GB of ram?

I want a solution for this problem.

The system still requires little RAM or not 64-bit.

If your computer has more than 4 GB of RAM installed, Windows 7 64-bit using 4 GB and more which is what it is supposed to do...

You do not have a problem...

I have not changed, operating system or that I received my laptop how it is now with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit installed

32-bit W7 does that 4 GB of RAM maximum, BUT because of resources etc in the PC itself, you'll generally much less available to use (although 2.24 seems a little lower than usual). • Updated the motherboard, processor and RAM and upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, after upgrade the external hard drive encrypted with bitlocker will not enter the password.

Original title: bitllocker Windows 7 issue

    Hello

I recently updated my motherboard, processor and RAM, but I kept my original 500 GB hard drive, and equipped with a hard drive 2 TB extra, after the upgrade, I downloaded windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. After the upgrade I plugged my external hard drive (which has all my stuff important on it, that is to say the photo, video etc.) to realize that I had he encrypted with bitlocker on my old sysem. It allows Me to enter my password, it looks for a USB flash drive key, I did not. My question is:

Can I replace my old system with the old motherboard, hard drive and the original RAM to remove the external hard drive for bitlocker?

I still have the file windows.old on my hard drive, I have to restore it and remove the most recent version of windows 7 off the drive. I do this before I rebuild my old PC? I'm stuck here and would not lose all my photos (the wife would kill me!) I would appreciate your help.

    Hello

Reassembly of the old computer won't help. You will always need the key to open the Bitlocker.

    Hello Holywood82002,

Thank you for posting.  I have additional information for you.  I have a very similar setup as you do.  You are your system running at its full potential.  It is enough what will use all your resources of computers at a time.  Short run many graphic programs (Maya, 3d Studio Max and Photoshop), while Media Player (fully loaded with media) in the background and a game all at the same time (so I did), you won't exploit fully all 8 GB of ram at any given time.  I could barely within just 4 gigs.  The only reason why your system uses same 3.5 GB of ram is because SuperFetch Vista function caching your file exchange and frequently used programs in ram, which is very effective for memory management.

HolyWood then, do not hesitate to smile because you have very good computer. Zack

  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit says 3.25 GB usable Ram when 4 GB is installed.

Its all in the title.  I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my computer and it says that only 3.25 GB of memory is usable.  I also have a laptop with windows 7 on it and he wrote about 3.93 GB usable.  Is there a way to allow the use of 3.25 then more?

Have you tried to do a right click on the file and selecting "run as Administrator"?

  • Why Windows 7 Prof 64 bit because most of the games are placed on 64 bit 32 bit

Don't work very well on this system at all.

    Are what games you referring?

What do you exactly by "don't work very well..." » ?

Most, but not all 32-bit games/programs works at least as well on Windows 7 64 bit on Windows 7 32 bit thanks to SysWOW64 which acts as an "emulator". A notable exception to this are very old games that contain 16-Bit code that will not work on Windows 7 64 without virtualization software.

I ask that my previous question differently:

I activated Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit in January 2014. After recently turning off a few settings and features, some days activation appears in computer/properties, other days it's not. Why? What I turned off who would do that? It modifies a registry key?

It's actually very simple. If you have an active Internet connection, it will say active. If you do not it will say unknown state activation.

  • Is to install a Windows 7 ultimate x 64 in a X 64 based processor will give me at least a performance gain little/bigger with my 2 GB ram?

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit OS in my 2.60 GHz x 64 based Dual Core PC with 2 GB of RAM DDR2...
If I have the courage to install a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit in my PC with the PC of such specs. x 64 base processor of two hearts... I would gain at least a small performance gain? .. .for what I know... x 64 OS make better/more quickly and efficiently than 32 bit os... with processor intel my x 64, it is theoretically possible? even with 2 GB of Ram only? :/

64-bit is a little faster IF you have more than the minimum amout of ram. 64 bit min is 2 GB and 64-bit uses more resources than 32-bit.

I doubt you will see any gain and might even see a loss.  If you can not buy pass more ram, this isn't worth it.

  • Why windows xp 32-bit supports only 3.25 GB of ram?

Tehre is no solution for this problem, and I don't want to install xp 64-bit,

coz its not user frndly, thank you

My apologies, I must have misread the topics when I did my first answer. For some reason, I got it in my head, whether you use Windows 7 32 bit.

I stand by my original comments well that although I appreciated now that you are referring to Windows XP.

If you want to go to 64-bit Windows XP I'm not sure if this is even possible now. Unless you buy a commercial version second hand. If you can, make sure that it comes with an installation CD.

To check the compatibility 64 bit XP the following may be useful...

It will be even more important to check the hardware/software compatibility via the websites of the manufacturers.

  • Why Windows Aero does not work after upgrade RAM?

After that I recently updated my computer desk with 2 new modules 1 GB DDR PC3200 400 mhz 184pin RAM

    PROBLEMS:
    * Windows Aero stopped working.
    * Windows recognizes only 3.5 GB of RAM on 4.
    * Windows Experience Index will not refresh the WEI Score.
    Any help with this?
I'm back to the old RAM modules and all is well, but whenever I update the last two RAM modules, these errors occur.

    MY RIG:
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate.
    SR1830NX Compaq
Max supported RAM: 4 GB PC3200 400 Mhz 184pin DDR (4 Slots of 1 GB each)
Configuration of the RAM before upgrading (physical)
    SLOT 1: 1 GB
    SLOT 2: 1 GB
    SLOT 3: 512 MB
    SLOT 4: 512 MB
(although she had 3 GB installed, only 2.5 were recognized).
Configuration of the RAM after upgrading (physical)
    Slots 1-4: 1 GB each
    Configuration of the BIOS:
Slot SCHEDULES 1,2 & 4: 1 GB in each slot
SLOT 3: 512 MB (even if it has 1 GB installed in this slot)

You seem to have a hardware failure with slot 3. See if there is an update to the BIOS of your card mother, but don't hold your breath. There may not be one and he will probably not correct the problem if there is.

There is always to be small amount of RAM allocated to the system. Integrated video will be stick like a leech some as well as the network interface card. It's normal, regardless of the version of the installed operating system bit...
