Mysterious problem Windows XP on my computer Windows 7 OS

I have problems to install the updated driver for printer HP Photosmart C6280 A-I-O on laptop computer that has been upgraded to Windows 7 (64) Windows Vista (32).

The printer update disc does not load because she sees Windows XP Service Pack 2 (and not Windows 7).

Looking through my schedules, I see I have MSXML 4.0 SP2 loaded. However, note a Microsoft support - coverage problems with MSXML 4.0 4.0 SP2 security update that "(T) article it applies to a different version of Windows (for mine).

After trying several possible ways to solve the problem (and be left with a lot of uncertainties) I have a question the planned bridge labeled " "article" refers to the specific formulation of the security update for content not applying don't in my system or does this mean that MSXML 4.0 SP2 does not apply to Windows 7."

If this is the case, this could be my problem of Windows XP of mystery and should I remove?

Thanks for any help provided.

Hello Derek,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

Did you hardware or software to your computer recently?

MSXML 4.0 SP2 applies to Windows 7

I suggest you run the driver setup in compatibility mode.

Configure the driver installation program to run in Microsoft Windows 7 compatibility mode.

To do this, follow these steps:

a. Locate the executable file for the driver installation program.

b. right click on the file and then click Properties.

c. in the PackageName Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.

d. click on select run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows XP (Service Pack 2) in the race for this program in compatibility mode for the list, and then click OK.

e. double-click the executable file to start the Setup program.

How can I activate the Windows Firewall?

When I click on it in the Control Panel, I get a message that says "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display WIndows firewall settings".

    I use Microsoft Essentials antivirus.

    Hi Tom,

A firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network. The firewall blocks the information or allows information to pass to your computer. If the information is blocked or passed through depends on your firewall settings. A firewall can prevent malicious software (such as worms) to access your computer through a network or the Internet. A firewall can also help stop your computer from malware sent to other computers. Windows XP, Windows XP SP2 and Windows XP SP3 includes firewall software.

Perform the steps from the link below and see if it helps.

How can I turn on or turn off the firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later versions?

HI Maria/Winston.Not, trying to be coy but. I've never had close the firewall to load anything. It will be, or at least should invite you to make a choice to leave the program to run or not? Nevertheless. If you have windows activation hurt you firewall can reactivate manually without going through the bugs that you can not. If you click Start and choose the runtime application. Type cmd, and then press ENTER. When the command prompt box appears type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes. He'll say firewall reactivated and ask for a reboot. Restart the computer and it will be active again. Just trying to help.

    Hi Winston/Hewlit,

Thank you both for your advice.
While waiting for your answers, I pushed all sorts of buttons and downloaded all kinds of programs in the hope that I could break the firewall (Hewlit the printer I tried to install says to disable the firewall to install the printer, and then turn it back on?).
After a reboot, the message 'corrupt windows\system32 etc' file came and asked me to put in the original disc of Windows XP, I did not.
Cut a long story short, I have now booked for a technician to come out as I'm totally lost.
    Thanks again for your help,

  • "Due to an unidentified problem Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings" on Windows XP

Operating system: XP w/SP3. MS Security Essentials installed.  Problem: Cannot enable or disable the Windows Firewall; When you try to do, following statement appears; "Due to an unidentified problem Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings.l

I've seen this before when I try to make appear the firewall configuration panel before that my computer has started completely.  Wait a few minutes and try again has always worked for me...   But in this sense, it is possible that a piece of the network process which depends on the firewall is not started on your system.  Try to examine your system and Application logs:
    (Start-> Run-> "eventvwr.msc") or
    Start-> programs-> administration-> event viewer tools
and look for errors in the process that may not have begun.

  • RWIN / TCP problem window size

    Hello.

I have a problem with Windows Vista Ultimate x 64 - whenever I have try to download anything through IE, Opera and FireFox I get a download speed of a few KB of 30-50, even though I have a 5 Mbit ADSL connection.

Now, I tried also test my download speed on torrents and with managers of download and when I use these I get my full download speed (~ 500 KB)-this is because when I download via torrent or download managers, I have multiple connections to the file so I can get full speed.

So the problem is that I have a strange connection download speed limit (and browsers use only one socket when downloading files). I guess that the melody of Vista Auto is not changing my RWIN or TCP window size, so I need a way to manually change this somehow.

I also tried to turn the auto tuning to restricted and the disabled, but it did not help. Also, when I put it to the test, I have no internet at all.

P.S. I use my Intel DP35DP motherboard integerated network adapter.

    Hi SeW800,

We will try a few things here.  First of all, check Intel site and make sure all the drivers for the motherboard and BIOS are up-to-date.

WARNING: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can resolved e. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Once everything is up to date, you might want to try to enable and disable these settings to see if it will work better:

Provider of Congestion Vista - for TCP connections with a large receive window size and a band bandwidth-delay product, Compound TCP (CTCP) in the TCP/IP stack new generation greatly increases the amount of data sent at a time by monitoring the bandwidth product / time, variations in delay and packet losses. CTCP also ensures that its behavior does not negatively affect other TCP connections. In testing performed internally at Microsoft, large file backup times have been reduced nearly in half for a 1 Gigabit per second connection with a 50 milliseconds round-trip time. Connections with bandwidth product / more time can have even better performance.

Activate - netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider = ctcp
Disable - netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider = none

netsh interface tcp set global ecncapability = toggle
netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider = ctcp / no
netsh interface tcp set global rss = toggle
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel = normal
netsh interface tcp set global chimney = toggle
