Mystery phone appearing in the network

For some time, I had this mystery phone appears on the network. The appliance changes almost every time that I look at. It can be any phone and any name. I don't have a smart phone, nor anyone who connects to this network. I'm quite positive that sees no other computer this device. It does not appear in newspapers DHCP on the router. I tried to change the workgroup names. I turned off absolutely all devices on my network, including my PC for a few minutes and then restarted. I have scanned for viruses. What's left to do?

Phones can not actually be connected to your network. I recently saw the same thing on my control panel network and thought that someone was using my internet. However, it turns out that, by default, windows shows you all the devices nearby, regardless of the question of whether or not they are connected to your network.

You can disable it by going to control panel-> network and Internet-> Network and Sharing Center-> advanced sharing settings, and by activating the option that says "disable discovery of the network.

My cell phone based on Windows-XP does not appear in my laptop Windows Vista-base and is not accessible from this Vista computer, but it appears in the network adapter connected to the network wireless by a double dashed line. At the same time, the laptop Vista appears in computers on the XP network and is accessible from there. I have already applied Windows XP - SP3 hotfix KB 922120 to XP laptop and checked the firewall on both machines (Exceptions) settings, and they seemed OK. Can someone help me with this? Thank you so much in advance.

    Hello
    Maybe this can help.

To get best results connect to each computer system screen and set all the computers to be on a bearing the same name of Working Group , while each computer has its ownunique name.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.

I have a network of offices with windows 7 and XP PC 6 PC 7. Each day network neighborhood loses the xp computers. I can always ping them but they do not appear on the network. The PC xp always had access to the internet and can still ping windows 7 PC normally, but I can't connect to the shares or see them in the network neighborhood. The question seems to come and go during the day and can be due to the network traffic? I am lost at this point. • Wrt1900acs nine installed today - peripheral unknown offline appearing in the network map

Installed my new wrt1900acs today, began to connect devices, signed for the Smart Wifi Linksys. The network card correctly displays all connected devices, but there is a mystery device appear offline. I have used Parental controls to block access to this device until I can find more.

How would a device appear? It should be linked at some point?  The new router has only been for 3-4 hours.  I connected only 2 laptops, a desk and a phone to iOS. Have not connected my non - iOS wifes phone still.  There are also 2 other routers and networks connected to the same Comcast modem.

The mystery device is presented as "generic device" with only a name and a MAC address.  I was able to remove, but did not know if there was a simple explanation for it.

Yes it should have been connected or on the network at any given time.

Use the clear network adapter icon in the top-right corner of the user interface to allow the map to regenerate. I could take a few minutes.

  • Unknown devices appear on the network?

Hello. I just bought an E900 and I make TVs and phones on the network, which i haven´t connected. They don t appear in the DHCP list, and I've changed the SSID and password and restarted the router and the PC. They do or see when running - an arp. As soon as I connect my old router that these devices disappear and Don t appear again until I have plug the Linksys. PC is clean, antivirus and anti-malware.

It also seems that the Linksys forces my G930 to reconnect, that didn t happen with my old router (Belkin F7D2301 V1).

(Until I got a TP - Link TL - WR941ND V4 that reconnects, who was one of the reasons why I've changed for the Belkin.)

    Any ideas?

    Hello Jay_D.

I just tried again. Factory reset the router again. Changed the SSID and password in a totally different frame then seized. I even changed the Routername. Always get devices in the network.

Devices to disappear and reappear again after a short period. However, that TV Bravia disappeared and hasn´t again, phones are still there and now I even got a few Phillips TV showing. The TV only I have is a Toshiba, and doesn´t even have a network card.

  • RalinkAPS wifi chipset appears in the network infrastructure

I just noticed a device appear in my 'Network Infrastructure' called RalinkAPS. I didn't have it there a week, I've been doin a little bit of research and it could be the chipshet of wifi on my router?

The router is a Thomson/Technicolor TG585 v7; or would it be an ad-hoc link somehow to the router?

    Hello

The APS Ralink is a WiFi chipset on the router.

RALink chipsets are used in various consumer-grade routers made by Gigabyte Technology, Linksys, D-Link, Asus and Belkin, as well as adapters Wi - Fi for USB, PCI, Express Card interfaces, PC and PCI Express cards.

  • Workgroup computers connected but does not appear in the network folder

I got number of connected computers on my working group, but for the moment, only 3 of 8 computers appear in my record of working group in my network.

When I search the names of each computer on the 'Search' from the menu 'Start', they appear and seem to be connected as I am able to access the shared folders.

The name of the computer, I searched (let's call it 'Computer 1') appears on the left menu under 'Network' with 3 computers that are obviously connected but when I click on network and go into the network, computer folder 1 is still not visible and only 3 computers are indicated.

  • Windows 7 computer to connect to Airport Extreme with an external USB drive attached. Flash drive appears for the network map but not the hard drive.

original title: drive hard extreme airport

Using Windows 7 and the Airport Extreme.  The Airport Extreme has a USB port that can be used to mount an external hard drive which is accessible via the wireless connection.  Only thing is, I can't get a 2 GB flash drive will appear for mapping.  When I use the other hard drives, they never show upward for mapping.  They show that it is connected to the Airport Extreme, but are not seen by my PC.   The internet has a rumor according to which hard drives will show up only on a PC if they are to FAT32... which would work without another formatted hard drive.  What do you know about my problems of compatibility with hard drives?

    Hello

Check updates firmware for the Airport Extreme.

    Airport Extreme

    Airport - Support
    http://www.Apple.com/support/airport/

    ---------------------

Although I think that the question is really the Airport Extreme also updates Windows 7 WiFi.
Check with the system manufacturer and the real device manufacturer updates the driver.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods
below is preferred so that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are
    found)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

Download - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version.
(Those become your fonts of rescue system manufacturer).

Repeat for network (NIC) card and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as windows
    7 love the updated drivers.

    I hope this helps.

  • Unknown to router in the Network Infrastructure

    Hello

There is a unknown router which is not mine not appearing in the Network Infrastructure.

I understand why it show up under available wireless networks. But not the network infrastructure.

I have not connected to it, is not my router, and it is not there. It is a little disconcerting, to say the least.

Cisco Wireless VPN router - N is mine.

    WNR1000v2 isn't.

OK so I would like to know what criteria determines why a router is listed in the network infrastructure... and how to get rid of him?

Why is windows 7 this? It makes no sense at all...

Can't really answer. I can only say that turning on the Details view for the page shows that the alien router isn't listed in my network location. A network infrastructure device is that in theory I 'could' connect to research a little further into the router configs (properties because it gives model, series No, MAC address and unique identifier #) indicates that the owner has set up to use WiFi Protected Setup to allow wireless devices to connect (requiring a fixed number of pine).  So, if I had the PIN to the router, I was able to connect to its network. Maybe that's why it appears. If your mystery router is configured in the same way, this could be a further indication as to why these routers being listed in the title of the Network Infrastructure while all other neighboring routers are not.
