HP s5710f led failure indicator

The ' light ' has failed.

Otherwise, the computer works fine.

The light is usually blue when the computer is turned on and amber tricks during the "sleep" mode

Problem now is that not knowing what computer mode causes unnecessary reboots (accidental), because the thought of current switch that turned off is pressed.

I opened the folder and a saw that the light was yellow/orange wire leads.

I have their trace on a motherboard connector.

Think the dirt or corrosion may cause a joint high-strength, I unplugged the connector and re-connected, with the intention to clean the contacts.

It does not solve the problem.

Any other ideas?

Hello Tony617,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that your power light is no longer shows if the system is on or off, and if you're constantly reboot the computer when it is just in mode "Eve". To resolve this issue, you will need to part (511607-ZH1) number - Power switch LED support (Longitude), which is no longer sold by HP, but is available online, you need to simply do a search for the part number and you will locate many.

Now to replace the switch / LED support Assembly you must follow the instructions set out for you below:

Before to intervene on the installation that you have done the following.

Step 1. Turn off all the devices connected to the system.
Step 2. Shut down Windows.
Step 3. Identify and mark all the cables. Disconnect the cables from the system. Don't forget to disconnect the modem cable before disconnecting the power cord.

The power switch

The power switch is located in the upper part of the system. The hard drive activity light is lower on the front of the system. The two parties are wired together and must be removed at the same time.

Withdrawal of the power switch

To remove the switch a first remove the trim...

.. .the front...

.. .the optical drive...

.. .the system fan...

.. .and the cage.

The power switch also branches to connect to the activity of the hard drive LED, which is located inside the front and drive IO memory combination.

Remove the connector of the power led hard drive the rest of the power switch wiring harness

Resume the threads on the guide to small cable systems.

Detach the connector from the power switch to the motherboard.

Release the connector of the three guides cable near the top of the PC.

Inside the PC, slide the latch beside the sons of the connector...

.. .and while pressing the lock...

.. .slide power switch slightly to the right...

.. then pull the power switch and connectors on the PC.

Power switch replacement

The switch has a small hook on the side...

.. .that fits into a small slot on the front of the PC.

The switch has also two small tabs...

.. .that fall into the slots on the PC.

To replace the power switch, first feed the connector in through the rectangular slot on the front of the PC.

Align the tabs on the switch and hook into their slots on the PC...

.. .and slide the switch to the left until the latch snaps into place to fix all.

Enter three cable guides the power switch connector near the top of the PC.  The cable Guide helps keep cables compact and are important to maintain the circulation of air in the PC.

Replace the connector on the motherboard...

... replace the connector to the guide of the seal...

.. .and re - pair connector on the cable of the hard disk activity light coming from the IO Panel front.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Re: Satellite A300-19 t has suddenly stopped working (power led is off)

    Hello

    I have a 19 t A300 Toshiba, model PSAJ4E that I have used for more than 1 year and a half. Yesterday, I just started, started to work for 5 min and all of a sudden it has stopped working and remained silent. I'm not through the shutdown process or whatever it is a software based process, just a hard stop. I don't even have the led power indicator. I figured that the power being the issue, brick took and plugged into another laptop and was good (the power led came). This is definitley on my laptop.

    So I am writing to ask you guys: what can cause the power light on my laptop, not to turn on, when I plug the DC Jack? Is this something on my laptop the charging circuit? What is the motherboard I need to change? How can I get a better diagnosis? I got this entire manual to solve my problem? My goal is to find out exactly what happened.

    In addition, I have the skills to apply basic manual procedures. I am able to disassemble my laptop (down to the motherboard) and refit it.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    It looks like the power supply electronic breakdown which is part of the motherboard. I don't think you can fix it yourself, in most cases, replace the whole motherboard.

  • Satellite L755 - 16L - led power lights up after full stop

    Hello world

    I have a problem with the led power indicator. He gets after I completely stop my laptop. After I closed the power light lid Gets and it stays on. No AC adapter is connected, but it seeps. I don't understand why?

    I read the manual of Toshiba in which it is said:
    1. the power led indiacator to become white if the laptop is turned on.
    2 - the power led indicator? truns orange and blinks when the laptop is in sleep mode
    3 and there is no other action made by the power light...

    As in my case, when I stop my laptop all lights out, but after a few seconds, the power led (orange) lights up. Please help me to slove this.

    Hello

    Yes, that is really strange and normally if you shut down the computer (not standby) and unplug the AC adapter, all LEDs should be disabled.

    Since when have you noticed the problem? Have you connected external devices to the laptop?

    This new model s notebook, and probably it has something to do with the BIOS. Have a look at the Toshiba website, if you can find a newer version of the BIOS:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

    But before you start the update also to read the instructions to update the BIOS of Toshiba. It gives you a lot of information about how to update the BIOS.

  • Leakage current? Battery indicator?

    My new Ideapad Y530 feel that there is a leakage current very low activity or subtle vibration when I touch the front of the keyboard Panel (the metal surface on each side of the key touch, in front of the keyboard). Is this normal? Is it a danger? It can be corrected?

    How to set the led to three colors? (Off) (default), dark green and RED (continued).

    Thank you.

    Hello

    you almost gave the answer yourself : I see two possibilities:

    (1) use SetCtrlAttribute (, ATTR_DFLT_VALUE,); SetCtrlAttribute (, ATTR_OFF_COLOR,); or SetCtrlAttribute (, ATTR_ON_COLOR,);

    2) given you are using LED as indicator I can see no functional difference between ON and OFF, so you can define your own function SetLEDState (0 / 1 / 2) where you simply change the color WE based on your condition, something like

    int SetLEDState (int panel, control int, int State)

    {
    switch (State)

    {
    case 0:

    Color = VAL_DK_GREEN;

    break;

    case 1:

    Color = VAL_GREEN;

    break;

    case 2:

    Color = VAL_RED;

    break;

    }

    SetCtrlAttribute (Panel, color control, ATTR_ON_COLOR,);

  • Hard drive LED flashes after Service Pack 2 installed.

    When we turn off the DVD/CD drive in Device Manager, the drive stops flashing...? Anyone?

    * After using System Restore to 'Cancel' the installation of SP2 on the laptop, the hard drive continues to blink.

    Disabling the 'Auto-Play' function does not work either.

    I do a system restore on the laptop. This operation he brings to "out of box state" and running on SP1. I follow the results upward.

    Problem solved!

    With the office running, I disconnected the power cable from the DVD itself, DVD player and cut the data cable from the motherboard DVD player, then reconnected them.

    It's now time to try this on the laptop.

    Keep in mind the two of them are running Vista 64 bit and this devloped problem only after installation of SP2.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Curve 8900 flashing LED

    Hello

    I understand that a red LED means a new message, Voice Mail etc and I know as a yellow/green, low battery LED. I also understand that a green means that you have coverage.

    But I don't know if I should turn my green LED coverage indicator. Someone of you have it, you would say it is useful to have on. Also dose it make the power of the battery down faster?

    Thanks in advance!

    It's really a personal decision. I used to leave my LED coverage indicator, then a year ago I started leaving what he set to off.

    Some people find annoying flashing, I round it's reassuring.

    Battery? Well, Yes, techincally Yes it causes some brains because the LED must consume some power. Much, not really.

    So, if you find it useful, then leave it on.

  • HP HDX 16 (model X 16-1360 EV) cannot start, and led (CAPS & NUM Lock) light flashes once.

    Hello

    I own a HP HDX 16.

    The laptop model is X 16-1360 EV (product number: NW746EA #B1A) and it has Windows 7 64 - bit installed on it.

    Since yesterday it will not start and I get the error code flashing led "Failure CPU" (1 flashes each sequence, every 2-3 seconds) and nothing appears on the screen, he died.

    Last week, it wouldn't boot at all, no lights no all of the screen system was dead. I replaced the AC adapter and it starts normally. I worked with her for 2-3 days, and it worked perfectly, until the above has happened. Any information about how I can fix this would be appreciated. I have no device connected on the laptop.

    I'm adept at dismantling and reassembling, and I did it several times to clean accumulations of dust and dirt that prevents good cooling and caused stops due to overheat. I checked the various modules of RAM from another laptop HP just to see if it was a memory problem, but still the same thing occurred.

    Thank you in advance.

    You must understand the hat on this virtual path that nobody of can say for sure what is wrong there and we can only speculate on the potential problem.
    Who knows what's wrong there. Maybe there is a problem with electronic control gear.

    Unplug the power plug, remove the battery and leave it for a while. Try to start the laptop with AC power only.
    When you connect the AC power supply is LED on indicator system turned on?
    Is there a reaction when you press the power button / stop?

  • Pavilion m6 - stop suddenly and mystery of the power cord

    Hi people,

    I got a very strange problem with my laptop from m6-1035dx Pavilion the past two days. This is a reconditioned unit and have had some problems with it in the past (both hardware and software-related) that I managed to fix me, but this one left me speechless.

    It started yesterday when the computer was placed on a bed (with a CoolerMaster pad below, which I almost never separate the portable device) and immediately turn off the power. In the past, I had problems with heat stops, that I solved with a bit of air in canned and CoolerMaster pad said, so I don't think much. But the same thing happened today, and I noticed that when it has restarted, it does not recognize the fact that the computer is plugged in. Unplugged the cord/AC converter to three points (computer, converter, wall) and tried again, still nothing. Tried another outlet, blew the vents, power off and removed/re-inserted battery, still no recognition of the power. I reinstalled HP CoolSense (which I had removed several months before) and hope that would take care of things. Meanwhile, I shut the computer off again, and the LED power indicator lit on its own.

    Several hours later, the computer was reactivated and placed on a flat surface. Someone tripping over the cord, and the computer turns off again. The LED power indicator is out once more, so I unplugged the power cord and left for a few minutes. Blocked again, and the power was back.

    I am reasonably confident that I should replace the power cord at this point, but I want expert advice before I commit the money that him. It may also be interesting to note that while the power cord did not work, the battery (92%) had about two hours and six minutes of use remaining, which is well below the advertised battery capacity (to be noted that only Chrome was running at the time) and what I saw of the battery in the past. I think that the cable or converter can be shorted, then is it safe to use the computer at all? Wouldn't be a good idea to replace the battery as well? I will provide any other details if necessary and thank you in advance for any help or advice.

    Hi maestro35,

    Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

    I understand that you are having feeding problems with your Pavilion m6. I'll be happy to help you with this. If it is running with the battery, I wouldn't worry about the replacement of the battery quite yet. As for the fact that it gives you less time announced that it could be the mere fact that the battery life decreases over time. You don't mention your operating system, this is why I have included two links below which will allow you to test and calibrate the battery. This will confirm that the battery is working properly.

    Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 7)

    Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 8)

    I agree that it appears as if the power cord is the question. If you have a similar cord, you might give it a try to see, but there's a chance it might be the prospects of power supply for laptop. If something is shorted, then you shouldn't really use the laptop but without testing actually physically we will not be able to determine if something is put in short circuit.

    Thank you

  • Seeing flashes of power on Tecra A3X (PTA3XE)

    Hello

    A user of our has decided to give his cell phone, a small glass, it is true that his office is pretty hot, but personally, I don't think it's that thirst.

    Fortunately, it isn't that she threw on her rather than liquid food sugars/decaffeinated, although he was on at the time of the water.

    Dismantled, it the best I could and let dry yesterday, most of the impact seems to be the front left (hard drive Bay swimming) if the chip of the extreme right and memroy in the Middle seems to have averted any entry of water.

    This morning when I reconnected it all, farily predicatably, don't turn on the battery power. When I plugged in the socket (at arms length) the power started flashing orange indicator - two courts, a long, two short, one long and then two short.

    Had a quick movement through the user manual and the only reference to the orange light flashing on power supply is overheating and inferes is no trend in the flashig, just that it will continue until it reaches a safe temperature.

    I'm sure that the wee thing is lousy but I wondered that the led power indicated and then by extension if this means that there is no room I can save as a spare (as it can denote ok more memory or chip and others).

    TIA!

    HM, sounds the motherboard has been screwed upward. I don't know, but if you´re really sure that everything is well connected and so on, it should work.
    Maybe the motherboard did get a small splash of this drink 'action '.

    The problem with liquids and laptops is that they won´t together and after a few times "liquid spill" a PCB can get a short circuit from devices that have been in contact with the liquid.

    My opinion: PCB disappeared. But that's just a theory. :)
