When I tried to charge one of the two virtual machines it loss the ping and connectivity of balancing NETWORK load and got the error

Hi Marc,

Try the following;

1. connect to a virtual computer that will be part of the NLB Cluster

2. after login, choose the veth adapter will be part of the NLB cluster and change the MTU to 9014 of network properties.

This is due to the fact that the Protocol MS NLB will not bind to the card to less than configurd to use the legacy network adapter (network adapter vs standard).

Also a great link to solve this solution is below if the above does not work.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

  • Need help with implementing NLB on top of MSCS 2008 R2 to achieve active-active clusters

    Hi all

    I just configured Active-passive cluster (default when creating 2-node MSCS) successfully in my Windows Server 2008 R2, which currently hosts my custom web application, I also tried Telnet on port using MSCS FQDN and it works, as well as each respective node with the same port name both work successfully.

    However, in order to create active nodes for my custom web application, I have to configure NETWORK load balancing, so I wonder if anyone here can guide me in the best practice to install and implement NLB for asset MSCS cluster VMware?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Multicast configuration may have a problem with some switches (like e.g. Cisco).

    Check in the documentation of the seller switches to see how not multicast filter and if there is a specific configuration for NBL in multicast mode.

  • How to configure NAT for Hyper-V on laptop with wifi, wired and vpn connectivity

    Me, as I suspect a lot of people, I have a laptop with WiFi connection, cable connection and VPN connection (Cisco AnyConnect), which

    also uses a virtual adapter (activated when active). I searched for some time a way to be able to move to

    Hyper-V in VirtualBox. Blocker full for me is the need for a lot of my virtual machines to be able to connect to the

    Internet through 'the connection active' in the way that VirtualBox and VMWare Workstation/Player through their NAT feature.

    I'm not a networking wait, but after looking around, can't seem to find something that is simple enough for me to configure,

    with a minimum of resources, which allows me to connect a Hyper-V virtual network via a simple NAT device adapter

    all three potential network connections - most seem to not assume that one connection out of the machine, which of course does not

    me what I want.

    Three questions:

    1. is there a Windows application available that an adapter (like loopback) internal which acts as a real NAT device to one of the surfaces

    external access via the active network connections and through the Windows Firewall and any other antivirus, components etc. for

    the road to (i.e. behaves like a "normal app" inside Windows for internet access)? It would be the best option, because it would be

    "always there" when I run virtual machines

    2. display of my lack of knowledge around this feature, don't RRAS (and I know that this is not an option "minimum contact") allow you to

    Connect an internal network adapter to several external network adapters?

    3. on the Linux/OpenBSD various base/NAT routers, are everything that allow several external adapters and who are

    relatively easy to set up (by an independent expert of the network)?

    Really, we could do with this feature for Hyper-V on the desktop, but willing to work around him, if there is a way to at least the

    use virtual machines, once it is easy to install.

  • After a year with vmware, which now: vSphere or Hyper-V?

    We use VI 3.5 on 3 servers blades in the past year. Recently, I spent VCP310 and now I'm preparing for the VCP410 exam.

    We must now improve VI3.5 to vSphere and buy licensed vSphere for 2-3 new servers (CPU 8-10).

    I really like VI 3.5, we have no problem in production with VI, but when I compare the prices and features with MS Hyper-V, I ask Vmware aims to take down the price?

    I also think the other interesting what will be in the next 1-2 years?

    Thank you very much

    I understand your situation - two MS and VMware have their own take on how to model the cost of Virtual Infrastructure and financial need of good reasons to spend money when 'free' at the moment is an option - is my point of view of the scenario.

    1. There is no such thing as "free" in business - whether it is a hypervisor or anything else.  MS offer hyper-v as a loss leader to encourage organizations to purchase the suite of products - SCCM, SCOM, SCDPM, SCVMM System Center... etc.

    2. when sizing a solution of hyper-v that I found you miss memory before the other limitations such as cpu - MS thwart it by saying RAM is cheap and you can put as much RAM you need in a hyper-v Server - anyone who has tried to buy strips 8 GB DIMM recently will tell you memory is certainly not cheap if you want to increase the memory on a server.

    3. my point of view on Hyper-V, it is a good choice for organizations with limited budgets and limited their virtual infrastructure requirements. It can also be a good target for organizations with a strong prejudice Ms.

    4. a lot of the 3rd party backup and replication offerings do not provide any currently capabilities for hyper-v - for example, you might find yourself locked up a world of pure MS - be that good or bad. This is slowly changing, and more products will be compatible with hyper-v as the year rolls.

    5. I always find customers are willing to pay, for vSphere customers looking to deploy DR or BC have more options with VMware, Xenserver or Hyper-v.

    If the answer is unique for each company - but your IT and business needs should decide your future strategy rather than the underlying technology.

    As told in some once said-"If you think that technology is the answer to your problem, then you don't understand your problem.

  • DHCP server running Hyper-v comments

    Original title: Hyper-V DHCP

    Hi all

    I'm having a problem with a DHCP server hyper-v guest.

    The DHCP server is seeing demand fall, assignment of an address to the pool, but the client pc never receives the details.

    Hyper-v host is 2012r2, the guest is 2012r2 running on a gen 2 VM.

    On the same hyper-v host is our SBS 2011 VMS (which does not not on the legacy network adapter) run DHCP with no problems.

    I'm obviously SBS DHCP services during the test.

    The 2012r2 and the SBS invited to be on the same vSwitch with the only difference that I see the generation of VM.

    Any ideas?

  • HP Envy Phoenix 810-130QE Causes of Hyper-V hangs at startup

    I'm having a problem with the help of Hyper-V on my new computer and after that try almost everything has suggested two on these forums and on a myriad of web search I'v could not solve the problem, so I hope someone might be able to help out me.

    I found the setting in the BIOS to enable hardware virtualization and walks.  After that, the system would start fine.

    I then went to programs and features (WIN - X), then "Featurs Turn Windows turn on or off" and permits to Hyper-V and all it's subcomponents as seen in the following screenshot...

    That's where I ran questions.  After the reboot, the computer hangs at the HP logo with the loading circle spinning and will spend.  I even went so far as to turn all night without success.

    Everything I bought this computer is because I need to work with the development of Windows Phone and run emulators requiring Hyper-v and this feature was not available on my Core2 Duo aging system.

    I tried using other versions of the Bluetooth driver that was mentioned in the forums without success.

    I tried to disable Secure Boot, again mentioned in these forums with no luck.

    I am out of options and I am desperate to get this problem resolved.

    For now I have disabled hardware virtualization in the BIOS that allows me to start, but of course the features of Hyper-V that were installed earlier didn't work so I'm no better off than when I started.  Any attempt to reactivate the hardware virtualization in the BIOS leaves me hanging at the start of the HP logo screen.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I was finally able to get Hyper-V works fine on my HP ENVY Phoenix 810-103QE by installing a new copy of Windows 8.1, the upgrade to Pro and then reinstall all the drivers except the Bluetooth drivers.  The installation was not the restore partition but was using a retail DVD Pro Windows 8.1.

    Any attempt whatsoever to install the Bluetooth drivers that either before I had Hyper-V running or after have resulted in a failure.  In the case of installing them before you have a Hyper-V running it will expose the shot to the startup problem.  In the case to install after having Hyper-v running would cause an accident immideate and dump during installation.

    It seems to me that we have to wait until Microsoft, HP, or Bluetooth chip provider (in my case it is Ralink - now MediaTek) release updated drivers, firmware or software battery Bluetooth for solve the problem entirely.  Because I don't care about Bluetooth on my desktop PC is not that big of a deal for me, but it may be a deal breaker for others.

    If anyone is interested, I can provide more details about the installation process or answer any questions you may have about how I went to do it.

  • vWorkspace on vSphere vs Hyper-v

    Hello

    Anyone who has tried to #vWorkspace with VMWare?

    I have the intention to install our installation in VMWare I think it works better in terms of performance and stability... Any ideas...?

    Kind regards

    We used VMware with vWorkspace for 12 years. I also wanted to try Hyper-V I did. Hyper-v for our VDI with vWorkspace changed completely. vWorkspace is great, but Hyper-V would just start to have corrupted VMs so that I had to redeploy them. Hyper-V took more time because I had to sit down baby system. This property is set to true if I install SCVMM with a Cluster leader/Hyper-V, but I wanted the same HA capacity which gave me some VMware. The new 8.6 without SCVMM might work better, but I'm back to VMware and will continue to use it.

  • Problem starting with x 51 R2 BIOS A10

    I recently updated my CPU since the original i3 4130 for an i7 4790, updated the BIOS to the original A04 A10 and replaced the stock cooler Intel with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, no other changes.  Now, whenever I turn on the power (and sometimes when I restart) I get a black screen instead of the Windows startup screen after the Alienware logo.  By pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE usually boots to Windows, but rarely a second CTRL + ALT + DELETE are necessary.

    I use Win 7 Pro 64, (760 Ti OEM GTX) video and other drivers are up to date, and all power from standby/hibernation options are set to 'never '.

    This same question has been posted on the net by others, but the complaints include a blinking cursor (mine only blinks 2 or 3 times before disappearing) and there are no solutions posted in response.  Any ideas on whether this could be a simple BIOS that needs to change or other suggestions?

    The ePSA test showed no problems.

    Though the GeForce experience has shown that my driver is updated, the link you provided was a much more recent version. Unfortunately, it's just a little worse problem: had to hit CTRL + ALT + DELETE multiple times and then disconnect & reconnect the USB mouse to make him stop to jump wildly.  However, I have come across a solution.

    A Youtube video by using the display of Wagnard driver uninstall the software indicated that a new custom install allows you to NOT install two NVIDIA 3D components when they are not needed and make that solved the problem of the Youtuber, which was similar to mine.

    So, I went to add/remove programs and removed two 3D NVIDIA drivers, reinstalled the gaming mouse software, and that fixed the problems start and mouse.

    I'll take the 3D with NVIDIA conflict, thank you for your help.

  • UCS < 1.4.2b >, N1K and uplink

    Hi all

    I have a UCS (cluster) connected in vPC mode to a Nexus 7010.

    UCS 4.1U1 VMware ESXi, N1K with EHM PC blade-based UCS NIC is 71KR.

    Question is what happens if the two uplink of interconnection fails? I mean maybe cut fibres or stuff like that. N1K channel will be still two active link?

    Maybe the redundancy is performed by re arping for finding a mac (i've got UCS in switch mode) address, but I'm not sure. I saw a feature in the new version for a link status tracking rising full failure handling system (how?).

    last question about redundancy... what happens if a UCS IOM resets? I have some traffic disruption?

    TNX

    Dan

    Dan,

    Just to be clear, check the following:

    -UCS in switch mode

    -Adapters M71KR

    -N1k using Mac-pinning (I guess)

    -Connectivity upstream of each FI is a VPC to a pair of N7Ks.

    In this case, the N1K has no visibility of uplinks UCS.  See all your hosts VEM are two uplinks for each host (a session each fabric interconnect.)  If one of the two uplinks fails on interconnection, traffic will be the uplink remaining on this FI re-hairpin.  If the TWO uplinks on a financial institution fail, then UCS will be down (called the link at the bottom) server links and traffic should be routed through the MEC is another uplink will the other.  You can change this behavior to follow links to Server (for local switching only) but the default action of UCSM's close links to corresponding server if there are no links available on a financial institution.   Make sense?

    Now, in the last version of N1K here (1.4) is a new feature called followed by the State of the network (NST) for use with VPC - HM (such as Mac pinning).  This feature will allow to test the connectivity of a VLAN sends a probe packet and expect to get fired on another group of liaison rising/sup.   If you have a network VLAN which SHOULD be identified, you can follow with TSN.  If the network becomes unavailable, you can choose to close the uplink and re - route traffic to an another uplink.  This is useful to detect failures beyond the first jump (which would be the interconnections) as a failure somewhere in your N7K level or beyond.

    Setup Guide: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_2_1_s_v_1_4/interface/configuration/guide/n1000v_if_5portchannel.html#wp1284321

    White paper: https://communities.Cisco.com/docs/doc-20657

    Order code: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_2_1_s_v_1_4/command/reference/n1000v_cmds_t.html#wp1295608

    For your last question about a failure/reset of the IOM, the cards corresponding to each blade will lose connectivity.  This is redundancy at the host level comes into play to reroute traffic.  In the case of your hosts N1K VEM, they would simply be re - route traffic on the access road to functional IOM of the chassis.

    Another point to consider is the M71 and M81 adapters support Fabric Failover.  He is tilting at the adapter level if there is a failure with any device between the adapter and uplink (like the IOM or FI).  Fabric failover is a configurable option adapter which re - will route traffic in Menlo ASIC adapters to the fabric in the 'other', such that the host will NOT see one of the two ports down.  Without switch fabric, a failure of a MOI or FI consider the adapter and this port would descend.  FF only adds a level of redundancy in the adapter without having to rely on any OS host grouping/failover.  M51KR, M61 KR and M72KR adapters do NOT support this feature.

  • Can not join the domain of the Hyper-V virtualized system

    Hello!
    I have a domain controller active directory (adserver) in my ws12 network, and I have another physical server (server) also runs ws12 who is able to join the domain, but the virtualized systems can not.
    DNS and other settings are ok (identical to what is implemented on the server) and made the flush and registerdns steps. I even tried to add the host name of the dc and the name of FQDN for hosts files.
    I type in the domain (gczinege) and I'm able to type in the username and password. After awhile the virtualized pc SAIS: could not join the domain - not found network path
    I feel there is something with the installation of hyper-v or network server.

    Thank you all.
    I solved the problem, first I was promoting to a domain controller and to be in the area and that the installation of hyper-v after everything went well.

  • convert HV VM (P2V) like physics or server Hyper-V (V2V)

    Hello.

    I need to convert a Hyper-V VM to vSphere, this is a windows server 2008 r2 (HV and VM) and HV have simple installation by default.

    First step: with source such as Hyper-V I had a problem at 1% as "FAILED: an error occurred when opening a virtual disk." Verify that the Converter server and source running machines have network access to the ESX/ESXi source and destination hosts.'.» I think that's not commonly HV problem, because side by side test WHAT VM converted ok, but it is very pure in environment - have no software for MSSQL and big virtual hard disk. And I think if I do a google search more then I can fix the problem (or to write but here:).) Generally, only one thought was that raid-5 is degraded at the moment, and it is perhaps quick read via HV timeouts, don't know. (I brought disk raid 5 yesterday and try again to convert HV tonight.)

    Second step: with source as Physics (Yes, why not) She converted ok, however, I forgot or cannot turn off programs/processes give easy to convert average VM.

    And now I have a question:

    Is that I should try HV convert directly or just do like physics?

    Is the main differences in the VM resulted (more layer of clear virtualization or windows on a virtual computer) when I do one or enother thing?

    Finally I did not understand a main HV conversion like her need. Except for several situations: when we can run source VM for physical conversion (Te havnt free CPU/RAM/etc or is it as archive and not to run in order to avoid the change of State); When we need a quick conversion (without virtual source VM to HV layer); and when we want to exclude the virtual computer processes work effect.

    You can choose which approach you like, there is no substantial difference. V2V (cold clone) gives you full consistency, some prefer this primarily because of this. Using P2V with synchronization of change and stopping the front significant services synchronization ensures fairly constant for all practical purposes.

    With regard to the 'third way' - select a type of destination Worstation. Be aware that the WS and ESX formats differ slightly, though.

  • CPUID for VCA AMD Opteron 3-Hyper-V

    I tried several variations of the different masks, but you have not yet a little luck. Does anyone have an AMD Opteron 3 cluster with a box of Hyper-V nested? If Yes, what is the cpuid bits you use?

    Previously, you had:

    CPUID.80000001.EAX.AMD = HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    CPUID.80000001.EBX.AMD = HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    CPUID.80000001.EDX.AMD = HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    Now, you have:

    CPUID.0.EAX.AMD = HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    CPUID.0.EBX.AMD = HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    CPUID.0.EDX.AMD = HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    CPUID.8000000a.EDX.AMD = HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • ESXi or Hyper-V?

    I know it's like asking which operating system to use on an Apple forum, but I am responsible for creating a huge server (4 Xeon 10 c, 256 GB of RAM) and I try cost justify what direction I go.

    Even though I love the flexibility and the interface of ESXi and would love to see it on this machine, I'm having a problem with to justify them on the current DataCenter with Hyper-V offerings.

    The problem is that we are first and foremost a Microsoft shop.  We are using SQL Server, IIS and relying on several Microsoft products in development.  While ESXi would fit the Bill for that, Microsoft offers an unlimited number of virtual machines on top of data center.  What this means is: I have 40 instances of Windows 2008 running on the server for the price of one (or rather the number of physical processors).  Of course, it would be very likely that I would never do that, but the fact remains that the potential is there.

    All this does not mean that Hyper-V has no weaknesses as well.  I would like to install a PFSense firewall and have the flexibility to run a few Ubuntu servers and perhaps other variants of Linux for testing.  At this point Hyper-V is really not suitable for it, but I know you can get Ubuntu Server to install with a few minor adjustments, but the range of Linux offerings is a short one and requires a good deal of tweaking for some.  I also read the various reports on the parasites and the speed problems with PFSense running on Hyper-V.

    So at the end of the day, I'm stuck with a one-time deal.  The financier is going to buy what I want, but this offer will probably not apply after the initial deployment.  Looking at the initial cost, ESXi spell costs more, but it also has much more flexibility and features.  Ultimately, if, if I go with Hyper-V, I am without restraint on the number of licenses for Windows servers.

    What's a guy to do?

    Same rule can be applied for ESX/ESXi, XenServer, PHEVS.

  • Disk sharing works only with RDM

    I've got 2 VMS using RDM to share a LUN.  Adding the drive using RDM on ESX machines was not an issue, and readers of editing on Windows hosts has been problem free.  I can now see the drive and write on both machines.  The problem is that all files that I add to the reader with the hosts are powered only appear on the host opposed unless the two machines are re-initialized.  PowerPath on both machines shows the disk online and active, so I am at a loss as to why the files are not copied to.  Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the community,

    I'm surprised that you have not even data corruption. Windows NTFS is not supported to be accessed by multiple instances (with the exception of Hyper-V). In addition to this - if I'm not wrong - shared RDM is only supported in a cluster without sharing (i.e. MSCS) where one VM at a time accesses the RDM.
