N2048 - VoIP QoS, data Ports and trunk Configurations

Hi all

I am new here and also new to work with the Dell Networking hardware. I just need to some insights into setting up a new network, that I put. We use 3 switches to N2048 for access to data and VoIP. Each port will have only have only a phone or a client PC in different VLANS.

My question is what is the best configuration across all three powered to ensure that we have the optimum configuration for the quality of service for VoIP phones. Here is the configuration that I came up with this day.

Global configuration

VLAN, VoIP

Voice port

item in gi1/0/1 interface
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 5
VLAN 5 voices
Voice vlan dot1p 5
output

Client port PC

access mode swithport
swithport access vlan 10

Trunk Port

Te1/0/1 interface
switchport mode general
VLAN allowed switchport General add 5,10,100
switchport General pvid 100
VLAN 5 voices
output

Thanks for the comments

By default, the ports are configured to trust the priority of incoming user. So for your switch connections you can configure ports and trunk mode, there is no need to set general mode with VLANs voice, etc.

switchport mode trunk

switchport trunk allowed vlan add 5, 10, 100

switchport trunk vlan 100 native

For ease of deployment, I suggest to all the other general mode ports.

switchport mode general

VLAN allowed switchport General add 5,10

pvid switchport General 10

VLAN 5 voices

With the general mode configuration, you can connect a client or a phone, or both at the same time, in a port. This will make things easy if later you decide to plug a phone in where a customer to reside.

    Hi all

How do you compare Dot1Q and QinQ with access ports and trunk?

    Thank you

    Sunil Kumar

    Hey, Sunil,.

    With regard to your questions:

    1. we have a case of Dot1Q configured on the port of access of habit?  If not, then why? - Dot1q aims to tag executives leaving the switch and access is opposite, it does not therefore not used together marking.

    2. how the topology would be for QinQ case? - For QinQ as I mentioned in my last post one side will be set to while links to access than others. A simple example is explained on this link:http://networklessons.com/switching/802-1q-tunneling-q-q-configuration-example/

  • Setup of QoS for Whatsapp and VOIP application

    Hello guys,.

I have a modem WAG320N. I have wasnted to configure the QoS priority for 2 applications 'Whatsapp' and a VOIP application that allows me to call from a computer to a mobile phone. I use torrent applications and that they take all the bandwidth. That's why I was looking for to configure QoS for these two applications.

I went to the page of QoS and they are wondering about the details of the application as the range of ports etc.. I don't know what value to be filled. I posted a screenshot below of his request. Can someone help me fill out these details for both applications.

    Thanks in advance

    Image: http://i40.tinypic.com/2qi02z5.jpg

    You can add essentially Viber on QoS. Under the games and Applications, QoS, click on enable priority access Internet. On the category, find the Applications > add a new Application. You can enter the name of the Application. You can now add the port numbers. And since it is a specific port and no beach, do you this way;

    5242 - 5242 TCP (for Protocol)
    4244 4244 TCP
    5243 5243 UDP
    9785 9785 UDP

    I hope this helps.

  • How to add a VLAN on a trunk port and channal port

    Hi all

I need to set up a configuration details below.

1 how to add several VLANs on Cisco 4500 switch trunk port. (vlan existing also will be there)

    2. I have also 2 4500 switch to shared resources and channel ports.

So my question is should I add new VLANs on the trunk port and port also channel?

    Looking for an answer

It depends on your existing configuration.  If you have not specified WHAT VLAN is allowed, they would be by default.  If this isn't the case, you need to add the VLAN again to the definition of trunk.

Too far again go to that VLAN, that also depends.  IF you have VTP really set up, you have to create the new vlan on one of the master switches in VTP (probably your 4500) and the definition spread to other switches.   If this isn't the case, then you declare new VLANs on each switch that would need them.

  • Catch 22 - Port Trunk Configurations: how to combine identifiers VLAN native with DHCP (but allows traffic of VM)

Catch 22 - Port Network Configurations: how to combine identifiers VLAN native with DHCP (but allow the virtual computer)

I came across a Catch 22.  Maybe someone can restore the directly here.  I found a "witch hunt" for sure.

It comes with the Ports of junction on the side of the switch of the ESX host network.

    Context:

Ok. The Setup is a HP Blade C7000 enclosure.  I try to configure ports for switching to the blades.  ESX 3.5 U4 will be installed the BL460cs.  Installation is preferred method: revive unattended.  No problem with the syntax of Kick-Start,

I am here, it's the side network.

    The problem:

I find a major complication in that the switch ports must be configured for both traffic Service Console and VMkernel, more Virtual Machine since only two NICs by blade. Not best practices, but we have only two switches Cisco 3020 inside.  The two uplink physical NIC is paired in the same vSwitch.  (No iSCSI does fortunately).

So the Catch 22 question is as follows:

If the id VLAN native set up on the switch port, DHCP works of course and the VMware boot loader is able to grasp a binary / packets on the network (FTP Site) and install OK.  But after no installation, no communication with SC unless I set the VLAN id of the SC to '0 '.  The value "4" 0 does not communication, but "40" is the VLAN native.

If id configuring VLAN native retired from the Switch port, DHCP will not work and host does not have IP address during the VMware boot process.  This is as expected as traffic without label is not assigned an eligible

    VLAN, so no comms.

The Port of the Switch configuration:

    interface GigabitEthernet0/16

    SERVERNAME description

    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

    switchport trunk vlan native 40

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 40-254

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport nonegotiate

    Speed 1000

    No cdp enable

    spanning tree portfast trunk

    end

    Summary

OK, let's summarize where things are and if possible please attach responses to their digital identity.

    (1) is there a way to delete the VLAN tagging altogether side ESX host? Not only the id '0 '. The problem is with clearly with the VLAN native defined as "40".  If "40" IDs specified on the Group of ports for the Service Console, no joy, no comms. If the id of '0' value, capable of ping gateway and communicate on the network.

    (2) what is the problem with the definition of VLAN native as "40" when the config for the switch port is set as VLAN native "40"?  Or if it was a problem?  Both parameters clearly do not work together.

    (3) a switch receiving a unmarked frame it will assign to the VLAN Trunk native. Ok. Trunking bases and why I need a VLAN specified on the port for DHCP native work.  But it seems that since the id VLAN is set manually even as VLAN native, closed communications and no traffic as possible.

    (4) executives made tag 802. 1 q VLAN native?  I think that it is not and this could well be the problem. Since the id VLAN "40" is not labeled, but try to score the side host vSwitch port group.

Please let me know your thoughts, community and how in general, we are approaching 2 NIC ESX configurations.

When trunking multiple VLANs, you either have a default VLAN is nothing is tagged, or you don't.  That's what the vlan native to you, it defines which VLAN would be used if no tag is visible on the packets traversing the network.  For servers, if you are marking, then everything has to tag, if you're not marking at the server level, then the port must be either an access port or a VLAN native or default must be set.  I also don't keep your service console the same network as your vm.  Keep this isolated for the security of the network.  If you isolate this VLAN, you can separate and use a single IP address for installation and one for post construction.

Or, you can provide an IP address during the build.

  • LAG, VLANS and Trunking Force10

I'm with vSphere and I a vSwitch with several groups of ports configured, including 2 assigned to VLAN ID and a network of management with no Vlan ID.  This vSwitch will use physical NIC grouped to route this traffic to a physical Dell Force10 MXL switch.  My understanding of the standard networking, a trunk port must be configured and VLAN must be added to this as labeled trunk port, while the traffic that has no Vlan ID is left unidentified and by default is the vlan by default (usually Vlan 1).  The attached picture is the topology I and I need to make this work, but do not have a lot of experience with Force10 switches and so far, it looks very different.  In addition, if it is relevant, the external switch in the diagram is actually 2 Force10 switches separated stacked, and there are two connections to the other switch (currently a 6224 not managed) between the firewall and F10s, which is a separate issue - those must be configured as an OFFSET on the F10s and the 6224? One or the other?  Or?  If anyone can help with the configuration for this topology?  Please help me out here.  Thank you!

Currently, the best method to get assistance and recommendations with Force10 equipment, is through the Force10 support group. They will be more quickly and accurately help you with this inquiry.

  • JOINT-2-data ports

    Hello

I took over managing a JOINT-2 6500 implementation, as far as I can see it has been configured in

"Promiscuous" mode with a single virtual sensor assigned to two data ports 0/7 & 0/8.

The switch was configured with the following options:

intrusion detection module 8 access management port - vlan 507
intrusion detection module 8 ports data access 1 - vlan 507

    monitor the 66 session source vlan 501-509, 518-520, 601-613
    monitor the session 66 intrusion-detection-module 8-port data destination 2

can someone tell me why the data port of second order utilsed 1 and the background command uses the data port 2, it's valid and recommended?

    Thank you

    D

So a little bit about the architecture of the JOINT.

JOINT has a management or command and control (gig0/2) port and 2 data (gig0/7 & gig0/8) ports

These ports on JOINT connect to the 6500 on the backplane.

JOINT Gig0/7 connects to the data port 1 on 6500.

JOINT Gig0/8 connects to the data port 2 on 6500.

    The configuration involves two things:

1 setting up JOINT (Date, time, assigning virtual devices to interfaces, tuning signature... etc.)

    2. configuration of 6500 to send traffic to the JOINT.

You plan to put the JOINT in promiscuity or inline mode?

The configuration on the 6500 is different for the two modes.

    Configuration:

intrusion detection module 8 access management port - vlan 507

This puts the management port to vlan 507

intrusion detection module 8 ports data access 1 - vlan 507

Puts data port 1 in vlan 507. This is usually done in inline mode.

    monitor the 66 session source vlan 501-509, 518-520, 601-613
    monitor the session 66 intrusion-detection-module 8-port data destination 2

It is an extended configuration that sends a copy of the data from the VLANs to the port of data 2.

This is done when JOINT running in promiscuous mode.

So in your case, the configuration is correct on 6500 sending traffic to JOINT depends on what mode, you want the METHOD to be run in.

Please see the link below which will explain how to configure 6500 promiscuity or JOINT configuration in inline mode.

  • VoIP QoS for Tunnel from Site to Site

I need help to configure QoS for VoIP between two Cisco ASA 5505 with VPN Site to Site.

There is no need for bandwidth reservation, only 46 (EF) DSCP should be higher and DSCP 26 second queue higher and rules apply only to a site to site VPN.

  • Data Guard and auditor of the Apex

    Hi all

I seem to be unable to understand the configuration of parameters for protective Apex listener when connecting to a database.

We have a lot of servers of databases (without data guard) and we use the command line Wizard to generate the configuration file. It's straigthforeward and

    What Miss me?

You must create two entries in the configuration file "defaults.xml" for your ADR (formerly APEX Listener).

One for db.connectionType and, secondly, for db.customURL, for example:

    customurl
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=
    (ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=DB-ENDUR)(Port = 1520))
    (ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=DB-ENDURK)(PORT = 1521))
    (LOAD_BALANCE=off)(FAILOVER=on))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=ENDUR_PROD.VERBUND.CO.AT)))

    Reference: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E56351_01/doc.30/e56293/config_file.htm#AELIG7204

NOTE: After you change the configuration file, don't forget to restart independent ADR / Java EE application server support if ADR is deployed on one.

Also check if your URL for a JDBC connection is working properly and if there are any questions, you can turn on debugging for ADR:

    Reference:

Directed by Tony, you should post the ADR related questions to the appropriate forum. Reference: ADR, SODA & JSON in the database

You can also move this thread on the forum of the ADR.

  • Install PT8.53 with Linux question: connection process Data Mover and application designer

    People,

Hello. I install PeopleTools 8,53 Internet Architecture.

Server database is the database Oracle 11 GR 1 material.

Operating system is Oracle Linux 5.

I installed successfully JDK7, WebLogic Tuxedo 11 GR 1 material and PeopleTools 8,53 10.3.6, in Oracle Linux 5.

I've been setting up of database PeopleTools8.53. Because the Wizard installation problem, I created PeopleTools 8,53 database manually by using starter PT853 Oracle database instance. I have run the following scripts:
    (1) utlspace.sql
    (2) dbowner.sql
    (3) ptddl.sql
    (4) psadmin.sql
    (5) psroles.sql
    (6) connect.sql

Then, we perform Data Mover script in a Windows XP Client computer to fill the PeopleTools PT853 database machine Linux Sever instance.

I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 client for 32-bit Windows XP 64 - bit Windows virtual machine and run it successfully.

In Oracle Linux 5 Server Machine Net Manager:

    Service name: PT853
    Connection type: default database
    "TCP/IP Protocol".
    Host name: 192.168.196.102
    Port name: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

I test the Service PT853 with "SYSADM" username and password "SYSADM". The connection is successful.

In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is the same, and the connection is successful as well. Its details are as below:

    NET Service Name: PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
The host of the database Machine name: 192.168.196.102
    Port number: 1521
Name of the Basic Service: PT853
    Connection type: default database

This means that Windows XP can connect to Oracle Linux 5 successfully. But in the computer Windows XP Client, Data Mover and application designer cannot open a session in PT853 Instance of database in the Linux Server machine. Its details are below:

    Configuration manager:
    Type of database: Oracle
    The database name: PT853
    User ID: SYSADM
    Connect ID: people
    Connect password: people

    Data Mover:
    Type of database: Oracle
    User ID: SYSADM
    Password: SYSADM

    Application Designer:
    Type of database: Oracle
    User ID: SYSADM
    Password: SYSADM

When connect Data Mover and application designer, I got the same error:

ORA - 12154:TNS: can not resolve the connect identifier specified. Invalid user ID and password for the access code.

According to my understanding, process connection Data Mover and the application designer requires 3 tables in SQL Server: PSOPRDEFN, PSACCESSPRFL, PSSTATUS. I'm not sure the process of connecting to the Oracle database. I checked the database PT853 instance in Linux, and there is only one table "PSDBOWNER" created by the scripts.

    My question is:

Can any folk tell me the connection process Data Mover and Oracle database application designer? Requires only one table "PSDBOWNER"?

    Thank you.

Oh my, many mistakes action here. If PSDBOWNER doesn't have a line, it must be solved at the time that the error came out. The replacement by SYSADM first why? Why is complaining already existing SYSADM? Most likely, you HAVE created manually, where you shouldn't.

Again and again the same story. And again, sorry to say but you should take the basics of Linux training, Oracle training bases and sorry to be hard but reading training as well to read correctly the Peopletools Installation Guide where all required steps are really described in details.

I don't think anyone can help you across the network in this respect,

    Nicolas.

  • My HP 14 laptop is not recognizing the usb ports and wifi at startup.

During the last few days I been dealing with the issue that my laptop does not recognize the usb ports and wifi. After several reboots, it works fine. My drivers are up to date, so I don't know why, I'll have this terrible problem.

    Welcome @hildergarn,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I understand that you have a problem with your Wi - Fi and USB ports on your laptop from HP.

My first suggestion would be to use the wireless network troubleshooting and Internet tool. At the bottom it will ask you questions to help you diagnose the problem.

Please take a look at this great Charter called troubleshooting wireless network and Internet. This document will help you to solve the problem of Wi - Fi.

Have you tried to restore the BIOS?

Have you tried to connect directly to the Modem/Router?

You have uninstalled the driver in Device Manager?

Please try to uninstall the driver in Device Manager by using the following steps:

    • Go to the Device Manager.
    • Expand network adapters.
    • Right-click on all NICs individually.
    • Click on uninstall.
    • Restart the laptop twice.

How many devices you try to connect?

What you are trying to connect via USB?

Are - what you happened to try to use the HP Support Assistant?

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, if you not him have not yet tried. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updated.

Here are other troubleshooting steps that may help too. If the USB device does not appear in Device Manager, then it might be a question of power requirement. Unplug the machine and perform the following steps until the device is detected:

    • Reboot the laptop
    • Plug in and wait five seconds.

    • If the device does not appear, try connecting to another USB port.

    • If the USB device is displayed in Device Manager after you connect the cable to a different port, then uninstall and reinstall the software of USB device driver.

If the device is not recognized in any port, unplug it and go to the next step.

    • Open the Device Manager.
    • Double-click Bus USB controllers,

    • Double-click on a USB root hub,

    • Click the Power tab

    • Click on properties of power supply (if it is displayed).

Devices need that are connected to the hub are shown, as well as the power they have. If the total displayed power is more than 500 mA, remove the devices and use a hub powered.

    • Continue looking at the properties of the power of each USB hub. If the total power required exceeds the total available power for the hub, then remove a device on this hub to a decrease in the number of consumption.

    • Plug in and wait five seconds. If the device is not recognized, unplug and go to the next step.

Please note; Remove USB cables at high speed that are more than 3 m (9.8 ft) in length and use cables at high speed that are shorter than 3 m.

  • hidden data port 2 on Mac Pro 1.1

No one knows what that Apple engineers have reason had to have these two ports on the motherboard? Discussions I read suggested that they were for the installation of additional optical drives, but I just watched a youtube video that has already shown the optical drive port has additional sata cables already in there.

2 are there thing, data ports, but I don't see a pair of extra power cables. It has been designed a bit more from the Commission? Or was there a plan that Apple abandoned.

Wiring in optical bays in Mac Pro 1.1 to 3.1 2008 model have ATA/IDE wiring in optical bays, connectors from molex power 4pin.

In my view, Apple has included these two additional SATA ports to guard against optical disk ATA/IDE, becoming too expensive or outdated form. Additional ports gave them the data connection to allow them to switch to SATA optical drives (with duplicator of molex power 4pin or adapter) without revision of the motherboard.

There is no explanation of how to use them in any official literature from Apple. They are too close, and using both requires using at least a right angle connector. Practical power is expected, because they were never for your convenience. Research of power for additional disks attached here is your problem. (learn about amateur sites)

For the great re-design for the 2009 model, these ports were eliminated, and the optical bays got SATA wiring (including power SATA).

  • ENVY 700-527c: data port availability

ENVY 700-527c, regarding with card mother Kaili2.

This unit had a place available for an additional cd/dvd drive for a total of 2 cd/dvd players.

In addition, there are two bays available for the additional hard drives for a total of 3hdds.

I installed a dvd drive in the extra Bay and I installed a hard drive in one of the two available bays. Everything works well no problems.

I would like to take advantage of the third Bay for an additional hard drive, but there were only two available data ports.

You can see the data ports in the lower right. Currently, all four are busy (2 dvd/cd drives - hard drive 2).

My question is: How can I get a third HDD installed and operational?

    Hello

The RED edge connector is a different SATA port.  See the image below.

Motherboard taken Kaili2 supported by six SATA 6 devices. Five traditional SATA III ports and an MSATA are available.
